This I know: no power in the wide circle of the world is strong enough to stop Ybus from mouthing off.

"He also hates when little halfling named Ybus are left to walk and not continue their drinking in leisure. You wouldn't want to make him mad, would you Ybus?"
Mar 20, 2018 7:40 pm
"You're probably right," he concedes to Baracus, then turns to Ybus with a grin on his face, "Will you be a good boy if we take you for a walk?"
Mar 20, 2018 7:44 pm
"I ne'er met 'im," Ybus says, corner of his lip curling downward in a dismissive pout. "Bendin' the wind like the steel, ne'er seein' the red morn betoken... Heh. 'E hates red. Get it?" The halfling dissolves into a mad chuckle that quickly turns into floor-rolling guffaws, obviously pleased with himself.

Rydler whsipers to Erden and Baracus "I think at this point he wouldn't realize he is being carried. Mouthing off is one thing, it's the mischief he'd cause given his own reigns that I'm worried about."

"I don't want to get on Aunt Sunitha's bad side," Urban reflects with some concern, then follows with a smile, "but I cannot resist fireworks. I'm in on a trip around town."
Urban raises an eyebrow as he looks at Ybus. "Just don't let him get near any olive oil, feather pillows, or bee hives. You remember what happened the time he got like this back at that fish monger's warehouse in Q'lactsh."

Led by Adi and Ash, you climb a mango tree in the back of the compound and slip over the wall. Ybus needs a little help but you all manage it. After several turnings through mostly back alleys you come within sight of the Trident Gate (because of Dasai, open even at this hour) and swing east towards the docks. Aditya points out the barges, anchored in between the Tusks of Gajenndra, from which the fireworks will be launched. You plenty of other people speaking in hushed tones taking positions for the anticipated spectacle, but not nearly the crowd one would expect. Aditya says it's because the Docks are generally not a safe place to be at night - not even in Dasai when the guard patrols are doubled. Occasionally, raucous laughter from one of the many taverns that line the docks rings out across the water.
As promised, at midnight, fireworks paint the night sky rainbow hues. It is glorious - doubly so reflected in the water of the bay.

He helps people into the mango tree and then sits below, alone with his thoughts.
Surely, this spectacle can be seen and heard even from the distant worlds of Acheron. I wonder if it has caught my father's eye?

Erden relaxes and watches the fireworks in the sky, letting Hedwig (the owl) out of his pocket to watch as well. He smiles with contentment; This is a night to enjoy, one of few in recent days.
Mar 21, 2018 8:23 pm
Ybus continues chuckling to himself, pulling on Aditya's clothes as a meager reverse-leash to keep him in the right direction. "Fire in th' sky, ne'er gets lost!" he chortles, grabbing futilely for the aerial blossoms.

As the lights fade, and the cheers and applause eventually dies away, the crowds begin to melt into the darkness - some to finally rest for the day, others to continued revelry in the nearby taverns or elsewhere. Still others flit among these, relieving unwitting folk of whatever wealth they carry. The sight of these remind you of the seedier side of any city. It is much the same in Port Llif.
A tavern door bangs open, spilling light across the darkened boardwalks. A bearded man with a peg leg and a parrot perched on his shoulder stomps out of the doorway. He mutters something under his breath, but then the parrot repeats it, squawking for all to hear, "Go fuck yeself, Copperhorn! I ain' afraid o' ye!!!" whereupon the man runs in abject terror up the walkway to some hidey-hole. Booming, throaty laughter echoes from the doorway before it slams back shut.
Aishwarya springs to her feet, seeming on the brink of heading for the tavern right this moment. What do you do?

Rydler intercepts in front of Aishwarya "Let's not make foolish decisions, I don't know what your plan is but I suggest you to think first before doing so."
Mar 21, 2018 8:51 pm
Erden climbs to his feet and magically dusts himself off, "How about you let us in on the plan before you go rushing in there?"
Mar 21, 2018 9:03 pm
Ybus magically conjures an illusion of miniature fireworks in his hand, replaying the show on a tiny scale.

Ash bites her lip. "Well, I don't really have a plan. I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking. I guess it's like Adi said, he's bound to be in a better mood now than tomorrow when he'll be hungover."
Mar 21, 2018 9:14 pm
Baracus rises to his feet. Though exhausted from the long and eventful day, he is ready for action. If he was lucky, his father was still watching. He pulls his axe and xyphos from the ground where he lay them to bathe in and enjoy the sky fire magic. He chooses to give the Pradeshi knife another go, pleased with how it handled against the demon.
He advances to the walkway in order to block any pursuers, still a distance from the tavern door. The wood creaks under his massive girth.

Rydler draws his dagger and vanishes it within his sleeves then steps to the side of Ash and gestures forward "Your safety is our best interest. If you think this is the most beneficial time, we will back you."

Urban watches quietly, content on seeing what the others decide to do.
He scans the tavern to size up the building and those around it, tries to identify if there are any outside sentries posing as drunks, looks for improvised weapons and shields, identifies alternates exits and entrances like windows, secondary doors, back alleys.
Urban has learned to make sure he knows more than one way to get in and out of a building, and where others might be doing the same. He knows that situations like this can change fast, and not always for the better.

"Red, yes!" says Ybus, dismissing the fireworks display. "Ev'ryone knows 'e ken see red! But 'ow shmart is 'e? Maybe 'e don' know what green looks like?" The halfling burps and doubles over, clutching his belly. "Oof... I ken show 'im, soon."
Mar 22, 2018 1:55 pm
The two-story tavern sits shoulder to shoulder with two other structures, so there are probably no side exits. Based on the glimpse of the back alley that you got on your way here there is probably a back door to service the kitchen. Out front there is a frosted glass window on the ground floor, and two on the second story. The faded sign out front reads "Ye Scum & Villainy."
Insisting he go first, Urban yanks the door open and strides inside, followed by the cousins, and then the rest of you. The place is as seedy as one might expect. Groups of patrons keep mostly to themselves in the smoky dimness of the large but cramped space. A band plays music on a variety of instruments near the circular bar curiously positioned in the center of the floor rather than to one side.
Ash heads straight for the bar to ask for Copperhorn but she spots him before she gets there. It's easy enough, because he sure stands out: holding court at the table closest to the fireplace is a hulking minotaur, his curved horns tipped with gleaming copper. He smiles widely when he sees the cousins. "Sunitha sends not one, but two of her brood! The old lady must really like me!" he booms. Downing his rum, he shoos his villainous-looking table companions with a sharp look, and gestures with a clawed hand for you to sit.
Ash declines the undoubtedly tick-infested chair. "Captain Copperhorn--"
"Please. Call me Valrakas. Or Captain, if ye prefer."
"Very well. Captain. Given our satisfaction with your previous services we wish to renew your contract with a substantial bonus of an additional 3% commission on top of the already generous previous rate of 12% of gross sales..."
"Come now, Miz Aishwarya. Tis bad luck t'be talkin' money matters a'fore a few drinks, aye?"
