"Looks like my last date!" Ybus blurts out. "Or maybe it was the Ye Scum and Villany privvy?"

When the blinding spittle explodes, Ybus declares, "Definitely my last date."

"Hey Urb! You can dance if you want to!" Ybus calls out, sending a wave of healing light from his outstretched hand towards the bitten human.

Dancing himself out of the writhing mass of tendrils, Ybus backs away until he reaches Don-Yi by the water channel. "You know, our Street-Play-and-Chill night went exactly like this," he says, and makes a throwing motion with his belaying pin. From the tip of his rod spurts a glowing glob of sparkling energy, aimed for one of the mouther's many eyes.
OOC:

SAVING THROW RESULTS

DC 10 WIS save vs. Gibbering: (15) SUCCESS

Baracus hears the voices of madness but tunes them out as background noise, not unlike how he details with the sea of people in the streets of Pradesh. The shifting ground occupies his attention in this sliver of time, and he fails to avoid the blinding spittle that ejects from one of the creatures' many mouths!
OOC:
Safe to assume I have the blind condition till the end of the monster's next turn? I'll roll attacks with disadvantage on that assumption.

Jabes.plays.RPG says:
OOC:
1. I will roll the Mouther's damage from now on.

2. We will use this battle grid. I have removed the incorrect map and updated the link to allow you to edit the map to update your position on your turn.

3. Isn't Erden still astride Baracus' shoulders? As long as he stays there, he is unaffected by Aberrant Ground and doesn't need to roll STR saves.

If Baracus fails his save and is stuck, Erden can use half movement to dismount and THEN he'll start rolling STR saves.

If Baracus is bitten and goes Prone, Erden falls off. DEX save to possibly land on his feet.

If Erden himself is bitten and fails the STR save, he falls to the ground Prone.

Does that make sense?
OOC:
3. Yes, he is still up there. I just wasn't sure what would and would not affect me, so I rolled them all.

This all makes sense to me :)

Baracus Turn 1
Tearing at the phlegm in his face, Baracus immediately descends into Rage.

"AS YOU HAVE DONE TO ME, SO ARE YOUR EYES NOW FORFIT!"

He pivots in place and stabs with the First Sword where he last saw an eye, then skirts around the edge of the monster to draw it away from Urban.

Action: Attack* for 24 25 and 12 piercing damage

The force of the monster's attack knocks Urban to the ground. He lands hard on his back and suddenly finds himself stuck in sludge. Before he can react, Urban is coated with a foul slime that erupts from the abhorrent thing's fanged mouth. The filth sticks to his eyes. Urban is blinded!

The voices are rolling over him now like a wave of confusion. It is almost maddening. Urban fights against an overwhelming dread that bears down on him like a heavy weight. He tries to move away from the terrible monster but cannot.

Prone Condition
Blinded Condition
Movement reduced to 0

Urban barely catches Ybus' voice, but the words are lost in the whirlwind of sound. He sees a glow of a light. What is it? He feels some sort of recovery he thinks. Urban tries again to gather his strength and get up, but still he cannot.

Even with his sight lost to him, Urban can see the monster in his mind. Closing in. The voices are wrapping around him. Horror.

Urban takes hold of his shield and reaches out with his other hand, desperately seeking to detect what is in front of him. He will try to strike out against the monster when it comes in for the kill, but in truth he is not sure if he will be able to.

Blinded, deafened, paralyzed, prone on his back, Urban finds himself reaching out. In prayer is it?
He is thinking of the Child Goddess of Skandrana Varhu. Her voice is a comfort to him. Her light a beacon. He tries to cling to her, yearning for a savior.

Reaction: Ready Action
Action: Attack on trigger of detecting opponent by limited senses (touch, sound, degraded vision)

Round 1

The monster's rasping voice, which you are now certain has been gnawing at your nerves since you crossed the first threshold, now tears at your minds like a swarm of rats, clawing and biting at your will, crowding out your thoughts, thrashing at your resolve, making you gag, making you want to run. As this abomination drops into your midst you struggle to keep your wits and shake away the waves of horror washing over you.

Ybus sees Urban go down. Perhaps the halfling is himself so unhinged that he is impervious to the maddening whispers. He sends healing magic Urban's way (10 hp healed), then launches a bolt of brilliance at the monster (16 radiant) before dancing away, dodging the snapping mouths, to fall back into the tunnel.

From his perch atop Baracus' shoulders, Erden launches his magical owls at the gibbering monster (10 force damage). It was fortunate the vigilant half-orc was able to spot the thing before it descended, Erden muses. It can only be hoped that his stalwart friend can remain strong.

Baracus does indeed keep his footing despite the shifting floor, and holds the madness at bay, but is hit full in the face with the disgusting creature's blinding spittle. He cannot see! Rage wells up within him and with a cry he thrusts with the First Sword, putting out one of the creature's eyes. (12 piercing)

Urban is in trouble. He's on his back, stuck in sludge, the wind knocked out of him, and he can't see through the monster's spit. Has he lost the torch he was holding? In his confusion he's not even sure. He hears Ybus' voice and feels new strength flow through him. Rolling onto all fours Urban digs deep, an image of the Child Goddess fixed in his mind, and wills his muscles to obey. He strikes once, twice with the Captain's Shield, pushing the creature back with sheer ferocity! (11 bludgeoning total. Mouther loses strength contest.).

"Steady, Urban!" Rydler yells. "Get up and fight!" Bonus Action: Grant Urban Holy Inspiration. Reaction for Sancho Panza effect: Urban can use his Divine Smite feature (w/o spending a spell slot) before Rydler's next turn. Action: Sacred Flame.

Round 1: Turtles

Rafiel dodges the spittle and powers through the muck to charge the monster, but the maddening whispers seem to sap him of his will and he stands, swaying, his daggers hanging useless.

It's much worse for Myche: with a strangled cry, perhaps a vain effort to drown out the creeping madness, he lashes out at the back of Rydler's head with flail and fist. Luckily, Don-Yi reacts quickly and lunges forward, thwarting both strikes, and Rydler is unharmed.

Lio tries to rally his brothers, charging the monster with a flurry of kicks and sword strike. His blade slices cleanly through the mouther, sending a chunk of it flying. Shockingly, the sliced-off portion stirs and begins climbing the far wall!

The Young Goddess is standing on a hill. As Urban climbs to approach, he sees that her feet are floating off of the ground.

Corpses are strewn all up the hillside. Stabbed, cut, and broken bodies of men. Split armor and shields. Blood-covered weapons casted about. A battlefield. War has made its harvest.

"Why do you reign here?,"
Urban asks the Goddess. "Did you do this?", he looks away only briefly at the carnage behind him.

The Goddess is looking down the other side of the hill. It is a clear valley. A river. The sun setting down behind distant mountains. It is a place for suited for the gods. Could it be for men?

"You will go there then?" Urban asks, with a hint of understanding in his voice. "You had to wage war to reach this...valley? The Mountains?" He looks across the golden scene that stretches to the horizon. "Peace," he says, finding the name of the place.

The Child Goddess looks to Urban. Her eyes are so strong. Urban has to look away because of his heavy debt.

Her voice he can hear, though an unsettling noise is here now on the hill. Other voices. Whispering and mumbling.

"I do not travel to The Mountains," the Goddess says. "I come from them." Her voice cuts through all of the others, and Urban tries to hold onto it.

"I travel down now. I descend into the depths," she has a rising tone. There is a sharp edge to her words.

Urban steals a glance, sees the Goddess looking back down the hill from which he climbed. He turns to see what she sees.

The men. The warriors are back on their feet, killing one another anew. Now they are yelling and muttering, cursing in dark languages that should not be spoken by men.

A barbarian champion is knocked back and falls at Urban's feet. The man's torso is covered in mouths, eyes, teeth. Swollen rats crawl forth from the a large wound that is pouring out entrails.

"You descend with me," the Goddess commands. "RAISE YOUR SHIELD, MAN!"

----------------------------------------

Urban throws up his shield and tears the sticky filth from his eyes. He sees the nightmare...

...and charges against it!

Urban strides towards the great abomination, swinging his shield with all of his might, hoping to drive the monstrosity against the wall and smash it asunder.
