Kithri watches excitedly, bouncing her feet slightly in nervous anticipation.

Wendealynn waits patiently. She stays out of the captain's way unless asked to assist, and otherwise stands quietly as the journey progresses.

Bragg, still looking uneasy about being on the boat, scans the Skies as well praying for favourable weather.

Sirraah stands with feet firmly planted at the bow of the ship, eyes closed, nostrils flaring as she inhales the salt air. Without opening her eyes she says aloud to Bragg. "Do you not feel the anticipation of battle giantblood? My only fear is that the threat that we are seeking requiress but a firm boot heel. There would be little honor in dispatching a small pesst."

I scratch my head a little. Hmmm I look around trying to see if I can locate the source of the mysterious draft.

There doesn't seem to be any sort of source, the winds never seem to remain. Walking into the winds in one spot, going back there later it no longer is there.

Wendealynn says nothing, remaining where she stands while she packs her pipe.
Mar 27, 2018 3:18 am
Captain Caespen looks over to Wendealynn before back on the sea "If'n ye don't mind me askin', lady, be there a reason of offin' ye armor when ye know ye be goin' to fight?"
Mar 27, 2018 3:27 am
Wendealynn pauses and looks at the captain briefly. "I don't doubt your skill, sir," she says, "but if the unfortunate should happen and I find meself overboard, I'd do far better afloat than plodding along the sea floor. Tell me when we're about 10 t' 15 minutes out, and I'll be back in me formals, for certain." She sticks the bit of her unlit pipe in her mouth.

Grateful for the opportunity to distract himself from the dread of sailing Bragg looks over to Sirraah, I am looking forward to a challenge but like you said if it is just a stomp to dispatch such a foe, I'm not sure I'll be interested in pursuing this assignment to futility. But something that I have learned in my travels is that many things are not what they seem, and hopefully this foe will be much bigger and stronger than we suspect!

Curiosity having gotten the better of me, I return to the top deck and locate the Captain.

"Excuse me Captain, hate to bother you with such an odd question, but have you happened to notice any odd drafts or winds from the interior of your ship before?
Mar 27, 2018 6:01 pm
Captain Caespen chuckles at Wendealynn's rebuttal "Fair 'nough, lady, fair 'nough."

He turns to Barixius with a raised eyebrow "Odd drafts or winds? What are...Ah." his face returns to normal "Ye be talkin' 'bout me crew most likely. Can't be havin' a mutiny if ye crew don't have brains or goals. They be a wee bit of me magic."
Mar 27, 2018 6:55 pm
Never having witnessed magic such as that, Barixius is intrigued and impressed. He goes back to casually meandering about the ship, waiting for landfall on Meese Island.

Sirrrah's mouth opens slightly and her lips pull back a bit in a smile that another dragonborn would not find unnerving, but others often mistake for an impending attack. She continues to face the wind with her eyes still closed.

The weather proves fruitful and before you realize Captain Caespen calls out "Land ho, lads and ladies; if this weather keeps up we'll reach it in about 15 minutes. Prepare yeselves, both mentally and physically for who knows what lurks for ye on land."

Within moments, you reach the island; the captain throws anchor and drops the gangplank "I'll be waiting for ye back here when ye be ready to leave or need a rest. Be wary out there."

The islands golden sands merge into the greenest plains you've ever seen that seem to stretch out forever. Rolling hills, shrubs, little lakes, and small fruit trees dot the landscape. It is a serene paradise with supposed evil lurking within.

You see a somber look on the Captain Caespen's face "Sad times indeed, the meese are usually so abundant—scurrying 'ere to there, gathering fruits and bugs—now it's like they don't even exist. May the winds fill ye sails to see ye completion swift, to the lot of ye."
Mar 28, 2018 7:24 am
Wendealynn had taken the time to don her chain mail when Caespen made the announcement, and with an expressionless nod to the captain she makes her way down the gangplank. When she reaches the sand, she looks back at the half-orc. "Have you seen any of these predators?" she asks.
Mar 28, 2018 7:47 am
Caespen shakes his head "Only the bodies left in their wakes; don't know if'n I can even call them bodies, they be more like husks or empty shells. Discarded and drained of their very life source..." His thought trails off as he stares off at the island.

As we are about to hit landfall Barixius decides its time to speak up to the ground. When everyone is gathered Ok, just so everyone knows, I work best from the shadows. I have a proclivity for liberating items from people and making sure they are unaware it is I doing the liberating. I pull my dagger out. Now while I haven’t honestly done much in the way of murder or assaniation, this skillet of mine will surely come I handy should some sneaking about be required. I may perhaps even get the drop on our prey, with your all’s help of course. Distraction is a key part of deception and stealth. So, in conclusion, I hope that as we learn to work here as a team this information will help you better understand the tactics I will look to employ as we hunt our prey.
