...advantage if Oma can use the help action on a perception check... - (1d20+6)

(6) + 6 = 12

Rolana listens to Oma's excited outburst quietly, without intruding, from her position in her bedroll nearby. She ponders what this new information means. It seems the party may have some leverage where the anti-magic is concerned, after all. She drifts back to sleep thinking of the possibilities.
OOC:
Rolana has the Alert feat, so she can't be taken by surprise while awake. She also has the Reliable Talent feature and proficiency in perception, so she can't roll less than a 10 on this check.

Oh, and there is still a black bear in the camp until dawn. He has a passive perception of 13, and has been instructed to defend the camp.

Sorry, forgot to add that the Perception roll is for second watch. And screw Reliable Talent. Nat 20, baby!

"The dark is afraid of me." Ryestro simply states and, upon her hesitation and leaving, the door shuts.

Watching from her perch on a flat-topped boulder by the road, Pyrrha silently observes as the group go about their business of setting up camp and organising watches. I have much still to learn, she realises, taking in every thoughtless, effortless motion of people who had done this more times than she has years of her life. There is a rustle in the bushes. The young druid snaps alert, thrust from her reverie. Every fibre of her form trembles with nervous energy. But no one - nothing moves. A rabbit shyly creeps from a shrub and off into the burgeoning night. Her muscles relax. A powerful druid and mage she may be, but out on the frontier, surrounded by eminent danger, she is still the child princess left behind on that fateful day. To them, she wonders, she is but a callow hatchling stumbling forward.

As the conversation picks up again, she skips ahead into the camp trying to disguise her shakiness and leftover adrenaline. "I'll join the last watch, gladly," she says evenly. "The sun will be coming over the canopy and the eastern hills by then."

Have you seen our checks? Fortress shmortress!
May 4, 2018 5:30 am
OOC:
man, i should have hung out with those guys!
Still humming lightly on the roof of the fortress, Tinwë arranges her blankets to look like she's sleeping in them. Then she laces her song with magic and fades from view. She internalizes the song, remaining as quiet as possible, and flies around to the various arrowslits to peek in on Ryestro. What do you do when you think nobody is watching you?
OOC:
Casting Invisibility. Tinwë probably won't keep this up for too long. Maybe a half hour of snooping, then sleep.

I'm under the impression the arrow slits are on the second floor. Ryestro would be on the first floor. In either case, he isn't doing anything interesting, most likely sleeping or getting ready to sleep.

OOC:
I'm not enough of a history buff to know whether arrow slits could be included on the ground floor or not, but it's your tower anyway!

Let's start with the first watch. The first few hours pass uneventfully. You hear the local wildlife chitter and chatter away. A small breeze blows a thin wisp of cloud across the full moon...
May 4, 2018 12:10 pm
@Tinwe your night passes mostly uneventfully but some time around 11pm you hear a strange sound as if some rocks fell from the masonry. That's relatively normal for a regular castle, but this is magical...
May 5, 2018 4:27 am
Tinwë rolls quietly to her feet, then pauses just for a moment to see if she can identify the source of the noise. Thinking quickly, she shoulders her bow and slips towards a different edge of the roof from where she heard the sound and drops down to the ground. Keeping to the shadows as best she can, she circles around to flank the origin of the noise.
OOC:
you guys stole all the 20s!

Second watch: It is part of the way through the night when you notice that the birds and insects seem to have stopped churping. The trees and fields around you are deathly silent. Looking out into the gloom you see several large shadows skirt by avoiding the firelight and head towards the corpse of the bulette.

What do you do?
May 5, 2018 1:20 pm
Rolana uses her spyglass to get a better look at the shadows.
OOC:
Reliable Talent makes the 8 into a 10.

You don't see much. Ironically, the spyglass makes it more difficult. There appear to be more than one creature of slightly different sizes. The largest seems to be about the size of a large bear. The smallest maybe the size of a doberman.

OOC:
How far is our camp from the bulette?
May 6, 2018 11:27 pm
OOC:
Not far at all. You could certainly see it if it were daytime.
