Something Strange is Happening in the South...

Oma Salie smiles at Fah'lin again. Not so fast, I do want to test one last thing. I want to see if both crystals combined somehow stops the shield. In other words: I want you to step within the range of my crystal when we're in the range of the big crystal and then try to enter my mind again. I know chances of it working are slim, but I really need to look at every option. Then I'll test your theory, I will reach out and try to feel anything. Meanwhile it would be really helpful if you made some tea, just outside the range of the crystal.
But first, give us a great big hug while you try to penetrate my mind.
Oma takes a few steps back within the range of the big crystal, opening her arms wide for Fah'lin to come within the range.
OOC:
When this is done Oma will sit somewhere between the roots of a tree and try to "feel" the shield of the big crystal, if she can she will try to find other spots feeling similar. Feel free to speed things up by telling me what to roll if I should and/or give me the results^^

Fah'lin repeats her spell as requested.

@Oma Salie: You think that casting higher level spells may be a little more difficult than casting cantrips and the results may be a unpredictable.

You don't feel any connection to the big crystal on the mountain.

@Fah'lin: The spell fails to work as expected.
OOC:
Thanks for the bump!

Aetoris looks out over the assembled knights.

Well met all of you, and many thanks for mustering so rapidly, all of you. Your efforts in the trenches alongside the townsfolk and the Champion are very much appreciated. Because of your efforts, the town has an additional defense from an enemy we now know contains a large contingent of bug-type warriors. I have some of the best intelligence gathering bodies in the world getting us more specific information on how to beat these land-usurping threats. his hands swing behind his back, clasping at the wrist.

However, while we await that information, I have a long day of assessing all of you to know how best to mount an attack. I know you are all accomplished combatants and full of nothing but vigor and valor, though to know which of you is best with sword and shield and who my pre-eminent pikemen are is crucial information. To that end, I would ask that we all muster together as one unified force, rather than separate armies. We will train together, drill together, and ultimately we will ride together to glory and victory. he says, voice building, driving to push intensity and passion into the troops he'd made work in the trenches yesterday.

Once his speech is done, he will set about having them drill with one another. Simple training weapon sword bouts, some basic formation work, things of that nature. Getting an idea of where they could be deployed in a traditional battle line as well as identifying those individuals that would be better used as scout recon folks as well as possible fast flankers.

Oma sighs when Fah'lin's spell fails. Yes, we knew this would happen, thank you for proving it with me. She hands Fah'lin her portable hole. Since we don't know if we will be safe the rest of the day, stay away from the small mushrooms in jars. Other than that, go nuts on creating something tasty! I'll do my best to not stay away long.

-Feeling for the crystal-

When Oma opens her eyes again she frowns, not having felt the presence of the big crystal in the slightest way. She decides to do some more testing, with spells that drain some of her magic abilities, instead of the simple tricks she just did. She raises her hands, whispering putridus while making some intricate movements, hoping to create a smelly stinking cloud about 70 feet away from her.

Casting Stinking Cloud as a third level spell
1st 4/4 | 2nd 3/3 | 3rd 2/3 | 4th 3/3 | 5th 2/2 | 6th 1/1 | 7th 1/1 | 8th 1/1

Rolana feels a tug on her shirt. With a sigh, she tears off another piece of jerky and hands it to the baboon. Better pace yourself, she says. I'm running out of this stuff.

At a nudge from her other side, she tears off another piece and hands it to the giant fly. That goes for you, too. Without thinking, she gives it a scratch on what seems to be its head, hardly feeling any revulsion at all. Amazing what one can get used to, given enough time.

Speaking of time, she thinks, it seems as though Tinwe and Kuz have been gone a ridiculously long time. Although rationally, she knows it isn't so, it feels like she's been standing watch here for days.

Stretching her neck to one side and then the other, she murmurs to her companions, I suppose something will happen soon. Stay alert, troops. And she continues her vigil.

Fah'lin watches as Oma Salie salie casts her spell. The area begins to fill with a toxic looking green cloud. Then Salie sneezes violently and suddenly there are four of her. The four Slaies turn as one and each unleash a missile of pure force which detonate into a young tree. Finally, one of the Salies begins to glow with a soft green light. After a minute the glow begins to fade and the four Salies merge back into one.

@Oma Salie: Casting in the anti-magic zone is more difficult that you expected. You have to wrestle the wild magic and bend it to your will. You think that the higher the level of spell, the more difficult it will be to cast.
Jun 28, 2018 5:49 pm
Oma is too flabbergasted to react immediately to any of the weird things happening after she casts the spell. When the four of her turn back into one she reaches into one of her pockets and pulls out a handkerchief, blowing her nose loudle, before turning towards Fah'lin. Whoops... That was not quite what I hoped for... That poor tree.. She looks at the tree, then shrugs. Well, there's nothing I can do about that now unfortunately. She walks over to Fah'lin, looking like she already moved past the disaster that just took place. I can't feel the crystal in the pyramid, nor any others. We could go ahead and try to locate them by wandering around the forest, but I do think that might be a very bad idea, this time I didn't kill you, can't promise the same result next time, definitely if I try to cast more difficult spells. Perhaps if I practice some more it might become easier, starting with the simpler spells and working my way up. So that would be my wish for the rest of the day, to stay here and practice. I would suggest you keep enough distance that I don't hurt you by accident. I don't know if it's possible, but perhaps if you try long enough, try to feel where and how your magic stops working, you might be able to break through the shield as well. It's worth trying, at least! But first! How is that tea coming along?

@Rolana, Tinwe and Kuz: Tinwe and Kuz follow the trail of the lizard creatures slowly and carefully for about two hours before they see any sign of where the creatures came from. After tracking the creatures they notice the sounds of the local wildlife fade away and you see a strange fungus or pulp like mixture pooling on the ground here and there.
OOC:
Make a perception or nature check please.

Tinwé creeps along, trying to keep track of Kuz while surveying the area. She pulls up right next to the huge Champion and whispers in his ear. "Hey, big guy. I know it's been a while hunting and you were up all night, but let's keep our heads about us. Fah'lin would be so upset if you didn't make it back." She pats him on his massive shoulder, then turns to examine the strange fungus.
OOC:
Alright Kuz, here's your Bardic Inspiration. 1d10 for any attack roll, ability check, or saving throw in the next 10 minutes.

Also, pretty sure Rolana isn't with is. She's waiting at the edge of the antimagic zone, right?

But just in case there might be something to see in Rolana's vicinity:

Neither of you are very sure what the substance is but you do hear a strange call echo out from the forest. A few moments later the call is repeated. It sounds quite close and it is getting closer...

What do you do?
Jun 30, 2018 4:13 am
Fah'lin looks down at her hands and the portable hole. "I was never handy...with these sorts of things. Mahla, or Kara...sometimes Bollin, was always in charge of making the tea. They should be arriving at the fort in a few days, if their travels are not delayed."

The half-elf holds the item back out to Oma. "You honestly think that this," waving a hand in the air around them to indicate the field, "can be overcome with...practice?"
Jun 30, 2018 1:13 pm
Kuz tenses up. "You hear? We not hunter no more, we prey. We need run now..." As soon as Tinwë starts to run, Kuz will follow with a 10ft space between them.

@Rolana: I don't need it yet but I'll use that perception check soon!
