OOC:
I've been picturing all the troops standing in silence, staring at Aety and waiting for him to continue. Gradually, there is whispering and slowly escalating muttering.

"What in gods' names is he waiting for?" they demand.

But Aety can only stand there, hoping something happens soon.

Lol, I had in there that he set them into drills and such after his speech, to assess certain things back on page 30 and haven't gotten ANY love from Arina for follow up from that ;) Aety is patient though, after all, he's an elf.

OOC:
Yeah, I noticed the drills thing and the lack of follow up. But then, Rolana asked Lord Byron for names of anyone with intelligence experience about 10 pages ago, and he never told her squat.

She's a half-elf, so she's patient too, but only up to a point. ;)

SO THERE YOU SEE AETY! Her patience has limits, that woman won't wait forever for you to make that move! SO FOR THE LOVE OF SPORES, kiss the girl....

Sorry everyone. Yes, I am on a trip. Posting will be somewhat erratic for the next month or so. Please hang in there!

Moonbeam unlocks the door, flips on the lights, and begins running a featherduster over all the surfaces. She sneezes a couple of times, but hums a little as she tidies the temporarily abandoned thread.

OOC:
Ok. I'm almost ready to start things up again. For now, I just want to take a quick roll call to see who is still interested in playing. Please post here or in the main gane thread if you are interested in continuing. I'll post this message in the ooc thread too. You don't need to respond to both :)

The nine smaller creatures seems entranced by some etherial magic and gather into one convenient spot and then explode as a storm of lightning, fire, radiant and psychic damage assaults the lot of them. Interwoven through the attacks, several missiles stream into those that manage to survive the onslaught.
Kuz slams his massive warhammer into the massive elephant sized creature. Both strikes connect and it takes the one particularly massive hit and you hear the sickening sound of broken bones. Desperately it launches an attack of its own. The creature looks very rough.
OOC:
@Kuz: Slight mistake on the damage should be 2d4+4 so 9 damage total.

@Aetoris: Please give me an insight, perception and a persuasion check.

Rolls

Large Reptile/Insect creature's first attack - (1D20+6)

Having instructed the giant fly to stay within 30 feet of Kuz, Rolana notes the fate of the smaller nine bugs with some curiosity but keeps her attention on the very large one responding to Kuz's attack in kind. She again aims her crossbow and fires.
OOC:
Sneak Attack applies, as I'm sure the giant bug is very close to Kuz. This will add an extra 8d6 damage on a hit. She will also again use Master of Tactics and her bonus action to give Kuz advantage on his next attack.

Rolls

Crossbow attack on elephant-sized bug - (1d20+7)

(11) + 7 = 18

Sneak attack extra damage (if attack hits) - (8d6)

(21252241) = 19

Wiping the blood from the scratch the big creature gave him, "That all? You no danger to me, but I be danger to you !!!"
Kuz then proceeds to get rid of this annoyance.

@Aetoris: You see three figures sneaking expertly away from their regiment. You're not entirely.sure if they are deserting or just skiving but one thing is certain, they have some serious talent for moving unseen as no one else seems to have noticed their absence.

The drilling goes relatively well. The troops sre mostly pretty green and the nobles are particulalry bad. Most of them have probably never done anything more than parade while on horseback. It may be better to ask them to fight on foot, but it may be difficult to convince them of this fact.

At the end of the training session, the morale of the army has risen significantly. Everyone seems to be looking proud of themselves.

@The others: The giant elephant sized bug creature lets out a high pitched shriek and collapses to the ground. It is no longer a threat.
@Kuz: You did not need to use your action surge
OOC:
I deliberately didn't describe its demise as I'm not sure if you wanted to kill it or capture it. I'll leave that up to you.
What do you do?
Sep 18, 2018 1:49 pm
OOC:
The big one was an unknown factor of danger so Kuz did not hold back. After seeing how easy they are to kill, Kuz will try to be more carefull with the smaller ones and try to knock them out... at least 2 or 3... :)
Kuz first smashes the legs of the big creature so that it falls down on the ground and them smashes its head like a melon. He then yells to the others, "They not so tough. Careful not kill all."
OOC:
Sorry for the multiple edits... It seems the small ones have already died, if so, Kuz will only knockout the big creature...
Kuz first smashes the legs of the big creature so that it falls down on the ground and them smashes its remaining limbs to make sure the creature cannot escape anymore. "What we do with it now ?"

Didn't the rest already die?

Yeah. The rest are all dead.

I'll edit my last post then... sorry

Oma Salie shudders again, walking over to one of the "smaller" bugs and poking it with her walking stick. Yuck, these are not very attractive animals, are they? How are we going to bring them back to the fort?
Sep 18, 2018 9:54 pm
I'd really like to bring back one of the dead bugs as well as the large one. Rolana commands the giant fly to land and leaps to the ground. If our fly friend has the strength to lift it, we could use it to transport the larger one. I'll have my baboon carry one of the dead smaller creatures.
Sep 19, 2018 12:29 am
The big bug lizard creature is very heavy. Not as heavy as an elephant but you think it would be beyond the capabilities of your fly. The smaller creatures weigh about 70kg.
Sep 19, 2018 12:58 am
Kuz goes behind the big creature and tries to pull it to see if he could drag it along...
OOC:
Kuz has a carrying capacity of 630 pounds. He can push, drag or lift up to 1260 pounds. Is it enough to drag it along if I tie it with a rope ? Rolled a strength check just in case, with advantage thanks to my "aspect of the beast (bear)".

Rolls

strength check (just in case) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

1d20+5 : (4) + 5 = 9
