Do you have a scroll or something official with his seal or where you just sent here for a word of mouth message?

The messenger points to his tabbard. This is the symbol of his house. you see a golden lion rampant on a red field. The Duke is a marvellous man. He's intelligent, well bred and his fashion style is impeccable. He owns great swathes of lands and he is rich beyond imagining and yet he always has time for commoners.
OOC:
@Cailean you hear what appears to be absolute hero worship or maybe even infatuation. He's definitely sincere either way.

"Well now, you had me at rich... let’s go." Cailean picks up his bag and gets ready to go. "Don’t worry Raz, I’m not that drunk to know where the money comes from, I’ll hold ma tongue. Of course if I hold ma tongue to long it gets all dried out and I need something to wet ma whistle."
May 2, 2018 1:59 am
Aye, I've not poured any of me jug's beer yet today Cailean. If you find yourself parched, I've a fair bit to spare you. Baerkohm says with a chuckle as he stands, picking up his load and setting up to follow their messenger.

I speak, for the first time, running my hand through my black mohawk and ponytail. I never trust a rich man who "cares" about commoners. They don't know our struggles to relate to us. But I suppose if he has gold to spare, I would be willing to take some off of his hands. I stand and the sleeves of my black robe fall back over my deep red arm skin. My black eyes close for a second. Let us away, fellow adventurers, for Arina.

The messenger leads you through the merchant quarter and past the various shops and guild halls and into the Upper Quater. The guards posted at the entrance give you group a measuring glance and seem as if they are about to challenge you but one of them notices the messenger's tabbard and places his arm in front of his companion and you are allowed to enter. You walk past several large town houses surrounded by high walls made from white marble. The quater is filled with trees and parks and the walk is quite lovely. After a short walk, you see a house flying a flag with the same colours as the messenger's tabbard. You are escorted through the gardens, into the house, up the stairs and into a waiting room.

Everything about this house screams wealth, from the luxurious drapes, tapestries, paintings and vases that line the walls through to the incredibly well made furniture and lavish display of silver and gold ornaments that meet your eyes wherever you choose to look.

After a short while the door opens and a man in his mid-thirties enters dressed entirely in scarlet and gold. His beard and moustaches are closely trimmed and waxed.
He opens his arms and greets you warmly.

Ah my friends. Welcome to my humble abode! Let me offer my congratulations on your last job. Fancy that! The slayers of the Chimera in my house! Lady Sivilia is going to be so jealous when she finds out! Anyway, your credentials do you credit! Sir Stannon speaks very highly of you! You are quite the talk of the town!
He seems to end almost every sentence with extra emphasis, as if he is either very excited or he seems to think that everything he has to say is very important.

Araaz thinks back to the days in his youth when he would spy on his fathers meetings. He thought he was quite good at it until his father caught him on one occasion. His father began to teach him the proper addresses and etiquette of the court. These lessons, however, were few and far between due to his mothers illness.
Drawing from his limited knowledge of such things, Araaz says to the Duke, "You flatter us, Your Grace, but of course. It's what we do after all!" Araaz nods his head to the man in a show of measured respect. Not a bow, for he is not acquainted with this man and owes him no allegiance or deference. Araaz believes that everyone deserves a measure of respect. That respect can grow or dwindle depending on ones actions, but all people deserve at least some. Actions do speak louder than words after all.
"Now, for what purpose did you request our presence this day?" He patiently waits for the Duke to explain the summons.

A boisterous voice calls out from the back, as a man draped in fine desert clothes befit with a veil, pushes through the group "Tsk, Tsk, my dear Araazmaataaz. What other purpose could it be! This fine man is surely a big fan of, yours truly." As he reaches the front, he does a grandiose bow, accompanied with a shower of rose petals and two doves that flutter from behind him.

Wulfram lets out a boisterous laugh at Ryki.
"In what world would this man care about you?" Wulfram continues to laugh to himself as he begins to investigate the house. Checking some of the items on the walls and shelves for authenticity and searching for anything he may recognize from his home country.

Ryki rights him self from his bow In every world under the sun, moon, and stars! In any world where common sense exists." The rose petals fade away and he turns to face Wulfram "In the world where the smart know who is beneficial to have on their good side and where the foolish throw around trivial insults; in that world, my dear Wulfy."

Cailean nudges Baerkhom and chuckles at his companions, "And they were worried about me making a bad scene, ah think our new benefactor is a bit flummoxed." He then pulls out a flagon from his bag and pours himself some ale. "Of course, all this holding ma tongues making my mouth as dry as Ryki's homeland."

Quiet leans over and whispers into Cailean's ear This banner looks vaguely familiar to me but I don't remember if I was hired by them or was looking for someone who wore it.
May 4, 2018 11:15 am
Cailean lets out a burp, "Well that does seem to be a pickle... maybe ifin ya stay in the back ya won’t draw any attention, or wait a bit and let wulfram and Ryki start bickerin again over whose got the biggest family crest and we can just sit back and watch unnoticed ."

My what a colourful bunch you are! Reminds me of the good old days at seminary school! Why we got up to some mischief then aye! Anyway, to business!
Gentlemen, I am vexed! As you know my Dukedom is to the east. The land is very fertile but something odd has happened recently! This bloody desert has appeared in the middle of my lands! No one can tell me how it got there or how to get rid of it! Worse, it appears to be spreading! Faster than any natural desertification should. My profits from the harvest look slim. I tell you gentlemen, I am at a loss. My guardsmen and magic users in the area are stumped! I heard of your success with the Chimera den. No small feat that! So I want to hire the best in the business to deal with my desert problem! In return for your services, how does 5,000 gold sound?
OOC:
@Wulfram: the art and decor seem to be a mixture of modern and antique. However, the mixture is tastefully arranged. Give me a history check please.
May 4, 2018 12:40 pm
"When did this desert appear?" Araaz asks, pulling out a parchment, quill, and ink from his calligraphers supplies and begins taking notes. "What did your guardsmen and mages discover so far?"
OOC:
Gonna get my proficiency next lvl, but I might as well use them now since I already own them! :)

5,000? Surely you jest. We are, as you say, the best in the business and as such, our services are not quite so cheap. You're a man of deep pockets and deep influence. Perhaps a number closer to, I don't know, 10,000? 5,000 in advanced for supplies and 5000 upon completion?

Cailean puts his tankard onto the ground, "I do hate the desert, no liquids, dry, parched... makes me thirsty just thinking about it." He reaches into his pack and pulls out his decanter of endless water. "Have yer boys tried one of these in the meantime?" Cailean moves over to a window, pointing it out of the window and says the magic word. "Geyser," as a 30 foot blast of water sprays out of the window. "If ya can find yer own, it might help till we figure out what yer problem is." He places the cap back, puts it back into his bag, and picks his tankard back up.
