Absoultely. What do they do? Do they have any distinguishing features?
Ok so quick explanation of the Winter Knights
Four royal families maintain control of the north.
Far North - beyond the map -
Thurdull Clan - have not seen or heard from in a decade (since the last tournament for Winter Mantel)
Main North - Norenia proper -
Warwick Clan
East Isles - The Baraghast Isles -
Beowulf Clan
West Isles - Skergaldr -
Skelega Clan
(Change as desired - names can be whatever)
The royal families must present a champion every year for a major tournament - the champion gets the winter mantel (a title more than everything but actually gets bestowed a huge amount of magical power - usually the winter mantel manifests as a really fine bear/wolf cloak/pelt)
The Winter Knights have 4 commanders (from the royal families) and then approx 50-100 soldiers under each of the commanders.
The soldiers are always in constant combat with each other to best in combat/valor/good deeds.
These soldiers are generally good in nature and will help any and all in need.
However there are plenty of lawful evil soldiers that maintain the laws of the land with an iron will and fist.
These Knights honor strength, valor, honor and respect. Magic is extremely frowned upon, but not uncommon - generally the high ranking officers/commanders have some control over some magic, but the common soldier does not.
In order to climb the ranks there are several challenges a soldier must accomplish before he/she can get to the next rank.
The higher rank you get the more respect you get from the rest of the community and an opportunity to fight for the Winter Mantel.
Wulfram is like a rank 2 soldier and has just begun his adventure to complete a series of challenges to prove his bravery and strength. In order to complete this challenge Wulfram must collect several pieces from ferocious beasts - dragons scale, krakens beak, storm giants tooth, rocs wing etc.
He was able to get through rank 1 by making a pact with a fiend in the middle of a one on one combat and was able to best his opponent using magic. (Fiend may have been Dispater or Aseroth Wulfram is not sure)
Symbols
The stronger a winter knight gets the more intricate their symbol. When a knight starts they pick a symbol that represents their house/clan and as they progress the symbol gets more and more defined - most knight enchant a shield/sword or even their armor with the symbol.
Wulfram's symbol is a snowflake.
