I know that we are starting things at level five which is a little different. Your characters should have some knowledge of the local area and persons of importance in the city and the surrounding areas. If you have any questions or would like some additional information then feel free to ask away here. I'll keep my eye on this thread and reply as soon as I can.

Furthermore, I would like to add that I actuvely encourage collaborative world building. If you have a good idea and would like to add something then please feel free to do so. I'll do my best to run with whatever you come up with.

So any ideas what our name should be? Are we independent contractors? Soldiers of Fortune? or some other sort of guild? As far as world building, my Monk wants a brewery/distillery, but I don't know if this is more of a world traveling/expedition type of a setting or if we want a home base and place to operate out of.

You're probably a bit low to have your own home / distillery / base of operations. You are an adventuring group. But everything else is up to you.

Yeah, sorry I meant that as a future goal, sorry... I know I didn’t express myself as clearly as I should have

I have been writing a bit about Wulframs background. He belongs to a proud group of knights called the Winter Knights. If that is something you would like to work into the story that would be cool.

Absoultely. What do they do? Do they have any distinguishing features?

Ok so quick explanation of the Winter Knights

Four royal families maintain control of the north.

Far North - beyond the map - Thurdull Clan - have not seen or heard from in a decade (since the last tournament for Winter Mantel)
Main North - Norenia proper - Warwick Clan
East Isles - The Baraghast Isles - Beowulf Clan
West Isles - Skergaldr - Skelega Clan
(Change as desired - names can be whatever)

The royal families must present a champion every year for a major tournament - the champion gets the winter mantel (a title more than everything but actually gets bestowed a huge amount of magical power - usually the winter mantel manifests as a really fine bear/wolf cloak/pelt)

The Winter Knights have 4 commanders (from the royal families) and then approx 50-100 soldiers under each of the commanders.
The soldiers are always in constant combat with each other to best in combat/valor/good deeds.

These soldiers are generally good in nature and will help any and all in need.
However there are plenty of lawful evil soldiers that maintain the laws of the land with an iron will and fist.

These Knights honor strength, valor, honor and respect. Magic is extremely frowned upon, but not uncommon - generally the high ranking officers/commanders have some control over some magic, but the common soldier does not.
In order to climb the ranks there are several challenges a soldier must accomplish before he/she can get to the next rank.

The higher rank you get the more respect you get from the rest of the community and an opportunity to fight for the Winter Mantel.

Wulfram is like a rank 2 soldier and has just begun his adventure to complete a series of challenges to prove his bravery and strength. In order to complete this challenge Wulfram must collect several pieces from ferocious beasts - dragons scale, krakens beak, storm giants tooth, rocs wing etc.

He was able to get through rank 1 by making a pact with a fiend in the middle of a one on one combat and was able to best his opponent using magic. (Fiend may have been Dispater or Aseroth Wulfram is not sure)

Symbols
The stronger a winter knight gets the more intricate their symbol. When a knight starts they pick a symbol that represents their house/clan and as they progress the symbol gets more and more defined - most knight enchant a shield/sword or even their armor with the symbol.

Wulfram's symbol is a snowflake.

Wulfram is from the Warwik clan - but since he is not a winter knight he does not take on the clan name yet.

Great. Let's have the nation of the Winter Knights located to the north of Dia Monde.

I just made up a name for your adventuring party. If someone has a better name then let me know. Otherwise from this day forward you are Arina's Vengeance.

Arina was a very beautiful half elven woman with a tragic story. You know that her village was destroyed by some kind of fire and she lost her entire family. She was a skilled magic user but she also had a dark side. Her powers seemed to be fueled by some dark entity but this never seemed to effect her character. She was a very friendly, cheerful and charasmatic companion.

Arina - can we get another thread for character backstories specifically for the lvl 5 game...I am having a bit of a hard time keeping track of all the players.
Do we have 5 or 6 playing the lvl 5 game?
May 3, 2018 12:37 am
I think that's a good call. We had six but lost one. We are now down to five. Ill open a new thread in this forum. Ill copy the relevant backstories and post them there.

Looks like we only have two backstories. One from Silver.hawk and one from Dramasailor.

I just added my backstory, it'll help gain a better understanding of Cailean.
May 3, 2018 6:50 am
Thanks Coachthor. I've added Cailean to the first post.

Is it too late to join the 5th level game?
May 3, 2018 8:40 am
Never. Make a character and get in there!
