Tomas' story

@Sovelin, the imagery in the mural from the first room where you entered the cave is repeated here with a large stone statue of the reptilian creature holding the longbow as if it were offering it to you. Something finally clicks in your brain. Fenrir. You have heard tales of the creatures. They served ancient and powerful gods long before the modern pantheon were born. These ancient creatures were said to have been able to achieve legendary reality altering things with their magic and their civilizations lasted for millenia but something happened and the creatures disappeared without a trace.
Going by the murals written in the last room, you wonder if the undead had something to do with it.

@Both of you: Anyway, as soon as Sovelin lights the torch for his non-darkvision human friend you hear something screech from above you. Looking about you see that you have stumbled into some sort of giant spider's web!

What you thought to be a giant sack is actually a cacoon, probably the spider's last victim. Looking above you, you see an enormous, sickly, pale green coloured spider descending from the ceiling.

Please roll initiative and take your first turns.

Strangely enough. Even with his powerful new weapon, Sovelin still manages to miss. Thomas, however, lands a mighty blow on the spider. It rears back a little and then tries to bite Thomas in retaliation

A hit! Well done Sovelin! Together your strikes beat the hell out of the spider. You crush limbs and pierce it's eyes. By all rights it should be dead. Then you watch in horror as it seems to suck sickly green energy from the cacoon and magically repair it's body.

Then, it continues its assault against Thomas. Make a DC 13 consitution saving throw or you are paralyzed for the next round.

Rolls

Undead Fortitude - (1D20+3)

(20) + 3 = 23

Spider Bite against Thomas - (1D20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Damage Piercing - (1D8+3)

(8) + 3 = 11

Right as the spider's fangs are about to sink in through Tomas's bracers, a soft blue glow appears. The bite seems to hit true but the blue energy slows the attack to where the fangs simply scrape the leather. Tomas himself doesn't seem to notice the energy or the fact that the spider is taking way more of a beating than is reasonable. As such, the beatings continue.

And with that you beat the creature into the ground. The sickly green magic fades away. There is still a small amount of green light coming from the cacoon.

What do you do?

Undead Fortitude 1 - (1D20+3)

(7) + 3 = 10

Undead Fortitude 2 - (1D20+3)

Keeping his distance, Tomas will use the end of his stave to poke at the cocoon and open it up. Maybe there's someone in there?

"Hey? You there??"

You don't find a person in the cacoon but you do find a fist sized emerald green shard. It is radiating a soft green glow.
Jun 6, 2018 11:33 pm
Tomas brings the odd shard to Sovelin's attention as he hesitantly pokes the shard with a finger. If nothing bad happens, he'll grab it, give it a sniff, and slip it into his pack.

He steps back from the cocoon and, with the help of the torchlight, looks for an exit out of this chamber. Upon noticing Sovelin's shiny new longbow, he'll give a long whistle, a thumbs up, and a wink to his companion.

How much XP was the spidey?
