Missing in Modesto - One Shot story area

Denton doesn't find any clues but doesn't loose the trail. Oddly enough he stops and looks around before moving off a ways and mentions there's better footing some ways away for travel by foot it seems as he's picked up what seems to be either a path traveled frequently by people or animals making the travel quicker.

The going is at a moderate safe pace and slows as night sets in. You're surprised a bit by the chill of night being in California and the suit helps some to cut at the occasional wind that nips at you.

You catch the odd smell of cooked food which seems out of place and follow it to what looks like a small fire from a distance. It doesn't seem to be letting off that much smoke it seems for some reason into above the tree line. The only issue you can see about investigating is your vantage point being a good 30 meters taller straight up from the area the fire is among the trees below, you see shadows or possibly people moving about below but at this distance it's a bit hard to make out from the light what's what.

Denton frowns since the light is bad for the shot from this distance and looks a bit grainy. But he does notice there's what he thinks is six people by the fire, they don't have any horses though and he didn't see anyone childsize.

Molly checks and finds no new signals.

Calvin lies prone at his vantage point, training his rifle on the party below, but keeps his ears open to the area surrounding him.
