Actaeon finishes climbing into the loft after they start heading downstairs, takes off the mask, carefully putting it away, and takes out his trusty bow, nocking an arrow, and readies to fire as soon as the counter-ambush is triggered. Though, he focuses harder than usual, and quietly mutters the words of a magic he's learned to use on the leader of this group, marking him for prey as soon as the fight starts.
Action: Readying an arrow| Bonus Action: Casting Hunter's Mark on the leader.

The cultist Group descends the stairs, exiting the barn into the office area and then open the exterior door.

Kel and Bart can each also take an opportunit attack as the group rushes past you out the door. You can choose guard 1, 2, or 4 or cultist 3.

Imitative order following surprise round:

Actaeon
Harold
Kel
Cultist
Guards
Bartholomew

Seeing as you will be at the top of the order Actaeon Harold and Kel can take two full turns right now (Surpise round 1 and round 2)

Bart just provide one turn (Surprise round 1)

OOC:
Sorry, I didn't fully specify that Actaeon went downstairs, but I assumed it was implied since he had to have the cultist in sight to use hunters mark.
Actaeon smiles, and quietly mutters Dont underestimate an Astor and calmly fires an arrow at his marked prey. If killed, he moves his mark to the rear guard number 3, and fires a 2nd shot.

The Ranger wastes no time, firing a deadly shot and dropping the leader as the arrow passes through the back of his skull. Acting quickly, Actaeon moves his spell and follows up with another pinpoint strike taking out the rear guard.

Bart’s sword swings at the air as the enemy avoids the strike.

Kel’s dagger swipe makes contact drawing blood. Upon casting the Sleep spell Guards 1,2 and 4 fall to the ground under the effects of the spell. (The purple square was the area of effect- the tokens with purple boarder are Unconscious and fall to the ground)

Harold takes out the last standing guard with his bow.
OOC:
Wow, very efficient guys, combat is effectively over though you have 3 sleeping guards on the ground. What do you do?
Sep 22, 2018 10:34 pm
Actaeon looks up at his group, and smiles Well that went way better than I planned. he scavenges for arrows and loot as he talks, We should tie them up, and bring em to the keep for interrogation.
OOC:
Welp, at least I got the 1 for something out of combat. "Hey guys, I found a rock!"

Kel nods at Actaeon. "Good. Yes, quickly now. But be ready... They can wake up any time." Kel brandishes his bloodied dagger near the head of one of the sleeping forms.
Sep 22, 2018 10:58 pm
OOC:
Actaeon, you are able to recover 1 arrow.
Sep 23, 2018 1:37 pm
Harold quickly says, They don’t deserve life, and we only need 2 for my questioning.

He puts his bow away, takes out his scimitar, grabs the sleeping guard #1 and slits his throat.
OOC:
Do you want me to roll it, or do we assume that he dies?
Sep 23, 2018 6:35 pm
The unconcious guard wakes as the blood vacates through the massive wound in his neck. After only a few seconds he stops making noise.
Sep 23, 2018 6:47 pm
"Elminster's balls!" Kel says, dryheaving. "What did you just do?"
Sep 23, 2018 8:52 pm
Bartholomew immediately steps forward and attempts to stop Harold.
OOC:
If this was around a table I’m sure I could intervene even before he acted. After all, he stated his intention.
"Sah, to kill anyone unable to defend themselves is an evil act. I will not allow it."
Sep 23, 2018 9:46 pm
Actaeon moves his hunters mark onto Harold and draws an arrow, I agree with lizard brain- this isn't just dishonorable, it's pure evil. They were going to absolutely kill us yes, but killing an unconscious man isn't right.
Sep 23, 2018 10:23 pm
Merlin says:
Bartholomew immediately steps forward and attempts to stop Harold.
OOC:
If this was around a table I’m sure I could intervene even before he acted. After all, he stated his intention.
"Sah, to kill anyone unable to defend themselves is an evil act. I will not allow it."
OOC:
Fair enough...I'm going to just say that it happened so fast that you didn't have time to react. Since you were not expecting it at all.
Sep 23, 2018 11:24 pm
OOC:
So you are basically saying that as DM you will react immediately to what a player posts without giving other players a chance to react? I don’t think that approach will work this type of delayed posting environment. I am not in a position to post instantly.
Sep 23, 2018 11:46 pm
OOC:
Harold would have said that stuff as he did it. He’s of neutral alignment, not good, not evil. Having 3 enemies is a liability, and you only need 2 for good cop/bad cop.
Ah, get your panties out of a knot, pussies!

He stares the Dragonborn and the ranger down.

Let’s take these 2 into the keep for questioning. He sheathes his sword, then grabs one of the cultists that lived, and heads back towards the gate.
