In this instance I think its perfectly reasonable to say that Harold walked up to the guy and slit his throat completely to your guys dismay and you all were so surprised by his actions that you did not react in time to save him...HOWEVER...if its a big deal I am willing to rewind the situation and delete posts back to his declaration and go from there.

Merlin says:

So you are basically saying that as DM you will react immediately to what a player posts without giving other players a chance to react? I don’t think that approach will work this type of delayed posting environment. I am not in a position to post instantly.OOC:
I would not say that I exclusively do that no...but it does happen if I am in a position to see the post and react to it and don't think about giving the other players a chance then yeah it can happen, like today...tbh I sometimes just don't think about giving the other pcs a chance, not because thats what I intend to do but because I hopped on...saw the post...and reacted...not saying that is good at all but just what I did/do, I am not trying to step on other pcs and I understand that sometimes I can move things along too fast with other pcs that are more active than others...In this instance I think its perfectly reasonable to say that Harold walked up to the guy and slit his throat completely to your guys dismay and you all were so surprised by his actions that you did not react in time to save him...HOWEVER...if its a big deal I am willing to rewind the situation and delete posts back to his declaration and go from there.

The Dragonborn Paladin does not look happy at all. Whatever evil has infiltrated this town it seems his own companions have been infected now. He points his sword at Harold’s chest and says, "You, Sah, are under arrest. Drop your weapons, and put your hands in the air where I can see them. I am taking you back to the keep for questioning."

Actaeon sighs, and lowers his bow, We'll deal with this later. Tie these two up, because the more we quarrel, the more citizens that will die. Now, let's drop them off at the keep, and see where we're needed next.

Kel backs up Bartholomew and Actaeon, but he doesn't brandish any weapons at Harold. "This is a matter for the Lord of the keep. He will likely side with you Harold. These murderers have no friends here. "

Harold sets the guy down that he was willing to carry. Fine, Sah! You carry the damned guy.
He steps into the blade a little, so that it presses against his chest, where his heart would be.
You would LOVE to murder a halfie, wouldn’t ya? Like your people did to my twin brother?
If you’re going to hold a sword to my chest, have the guts to drive it through me, or get outta ma face. It’s no time for debate or waste. This is a war.
Now come on! You carry this fucker that tried to kill you and everyone else in this town.

As you finish up the conversation, awkwardly, a group of a dozen bloodied but basically healthy defenders arrive from the keep with orders to relive you and defend the mill through the rest of the raid. They tell you to head back to the keep quietly while they remain at the mill.

Bartholomew does not flinch at the halfling’s unsubstantiated accusation. "I am sorry your brother was murdered, but it was not me, and that is no excuse for committing murder yourself. Now March, Sah. The Governor will decide what to do with you."

He’s not a halfling. But whatevs.Do me a favor and give your piece a blowjob, Sah!
He swats the sword down and walks in the direction of the keep, confident in his feelings about the situation.

Kel finds the leader of the relief guards and gives them what little they found out. "Those three corpses were the ones trying to burn the mill. These five were in that house. We haven't searched the other buildings yet, so stay on guard.. Peace upon you."
He'll help drag, carry one of the two sleeping prisoners to the keep.
