"What do you think of the doctor, Barry? What do you think of what we do here?"
Oct 30, 2018 10:35 am
"Quite honestly I didn't think it would help. I've had what's described by Dr Thorne as 'sleep paralysis' for about six months. I'd wake and be unable to move for several minutes, leading me to panic attacks. Jenny, that's my wife, suggested I come here and it seems to be working. I've suffered fewer instances, have been getting more sleep and Dr Thorne prescribed medication for the panic. He puts it down to lack of sleep as I read til late and I'm beginning to accept he might be right. I've been here two weeks, and though I dread the night, I can't deny I'm feeling better than I was."

"Malaise due to lack of sleep, remedied by nightmare-filled nights, Barry? Intriguing." Karabekian muses, adjusting his spectacles. "And by the sound of it we've all of us been suffering these nightmares. Even while awake. What do you think of Miss James? Celia?"

"She came in a couple of days after I arrived and seems to have become a favourite of Dr Thorne. She's been having recurring dreams and before coming her family reported seeing her walk up and down stairs while sleepwalking. It seems she does the same here, trying to reach a memory of her late brother. Seems obsessed with her dreams."

"Well, Marc, unless you want to check something out together, maybe we should catch up with the rest of the group?"

At the end of the day, the other patients are sent to bed at 10pm and you are invited to attend a therapy session. You are each injected with a cocktail of drugs then Dr Thorne proceeds to hypnotise each of you. You drift towards sleep but remain conscious; it gets harder to focus as your perceptions become distorted. Colours are vivid one moment and subtle the next.
"Close your eyes."
"Close your eyes."

Karabekian has niggling reservations about doctor Thorne's methods, but decides to give him the benefit of the doubt. He does as instructed.

A few moments later, Doctor Thorne asks you to open your eyes. You are alone, standing in Dr Thorne's office, but you see yourself and the others sitting, eyes still closed, in Thorne's office. It feels like you are floating inches off the ground.
Thorne's voice fills your head, "Leave the room, walk down the corridor to your room and confront your nightmare."

It's not real. It's just a dream. Karabekian tells himself over and over as his dream self complies.

Each of you move to your rooms and face the same thing you faced the previous night.
