Alright I guess we can take care of the town and then go and see the mage, although I still feel that the mage should be our first option. However what you say is true if he is truely mad then the trip would be for nothing.

Herod concentrates on his breathing in his room, breathing in......and out..........in.........and out..........
OOC:
He will continue this practice until someone breaks his meditative trance.

"Will that Herod fellow be alright? He ran off in quite the hurry."
Oct 2, 2018 6:30 pm
"He probably just needs to relieve himself. I'd let him be for now. We should gather up the rest of the people in the outpost now, I think. To let them know what's going on and to organize our manpower. Right, councillors? It would probably be best if the news were given out by someone held in high esteem by the town, so... Any of you all rather than any of us. I think the plan so far is to send out some brave youngsters in pairs or groups - they'll need some sort of official symbol, probably - to warn the nearby farms and get them to warn their friends and neighbors and then have 'em all come back with what foodstuffs they can carry. While they're out there, they could also try to bring back the hunters, if they're close enough. Do we know where the various parties have gone? If not, maybe the townsfolk or farmers know. For the mercenaries here, some of us could go to Serpentskull for the lumber while others train and start setting up physical or magical or holy defenses? And we'll meet back together when the basics have been covered? People, protection, food, etc."

OOC:
Looks like the general consensis is to build the wall first . To do so, you will need to go and visit the lumber mill to the north east to get your logs and timber. It should only take about 3-4 hours to travel there and back again. However, just to make sure I've read the group right we'll take a quick vote on it. All in favour of going to the mill please say so in the next 24 hours.

OOC:
Herod knows that is not the best use of his time, not being a strong man. He felt lobbying for aid would be in his better interest.
Oct 3, 2018 5:00 pm
OOC:
Ronda is all for the mill, hauling lumber, and all that.
Oct 3, 2018 5:35 pm
OOC:
Being new to the group Faebis will abstain from choosing. Instead he will go along with whatever everyone agrees on.
Oct 3, 2018 8:24 pm
OOC:
Works for me.
Oct 3, 2018 9:37 pm
OOC:
Not everyone has to go for lumber, anyhow. Also, it's not likely it's getting carried back. Just shipped out. Probably going to be sent back down the river. We just need to go to this half-orc to tell him the news, get him to evacuate and all that.
As the folk around the outpost are getting gathered for the announcement, Tomas looks for Herod. Finding him off to the side, breathing, he waits a couple of minutes standing to see if the monk will answer him. Not reacting to Tomas, the half-elf gets closer and pokes lightly taps Herod.

"Hey, Herod, they're bringing the townspeople together to start organizing. Some or maybe all of us mercenaries are heading off to Serpentskull so some lumber can be brought to town. Hope I wasn't bothering you. Taking a nap?"

OOC:
Oh indeed. You could always split the party. When has that ever gone wrong :P

Herod’s breathing normalizes, and he looks up to you and smiles. Thank you, friend. I am not one to do well in crowds, especially when all eyes are on me. I began to break, so I needed to calm myself.

I will follow you, since you have the connection with the shard.

He gets up off the floor and follows Tomas.
Oct 4, 2018 3:35 pm
"Oh, I see. I didn't know. If you want, you could just tell me what to say ahead of time next time. I can speak your thoughts so you don't get any unwanted attention. And I will gladly fight alongside you, Divine Gift bearer. Hopefully it won't come to that when we're just going off to ask for some wood," Tomas smiles back and claps the monk on the shoulder.

The pair head off to where the crowd is gathering.

Back in the meeting Mr. Sigmar address the rest of the gathered members of the town and mercenaries.

Very well. I am not a military man therefore I am delegating the defence of our town to Ms Fraught here.

Ms. Fraught nods and speaks up.
The ship's captain refuses to leave his squad of mercenaries with us, but I'll continue to try and convince him. Meanwhile, Father Bennett, why don't you speak with the local farmers and see if you can convince a few of the younger ones to travel south and inform the nearby farmsteads. Haedrid, please fire up your forge and start making weapons, I prefer spears and polearms as they are easier to train, and make some nails for the wall. You lot, she says pointing to the rest of you Please go to the lumber mill and inform Serpentskull. He might have a few suggestions of his own. In any case, he needs to be informed and we need that timber. Dismissed.

You make your way north out of town, you cross the river and follow it in a northeastern direction until you see the saw mill.

The industrial area is quite large. It comprises a saw mill, two other log buildings and a large area of cleared land where lumberjacks are busy harvesting the Berda trees and turning the logs into timber.

You arrive just as the workers seem to be taking a break for lunch. You ask around for Sperpentskull and a few minutes later a giant of a half orc appears and speaks to you. You fill him in on the current situation. He scratches his head for a moment before replying.
I've been sayin it for da pas' six months. Da Wesin Trading Compny needs to protect dis place. Buildin a wall'd be a great start and we got plenty a timber for ya. We'll start floatin it down da stream right now. Hey, I got an idea. Me and da boys could head back to town and start buildin ya wall or we could see about divertin the river. We could dig it out and create some kinda moat. What do ya think?

Before you can reply you hear a scream coming from the edge of the forest. A moment later a man appears sprinting towards you.
We're under atta.. He gets cut off mid-sentence as a javelin comes flying out of the treeline and strikes him in the back.

You look to the treeline and see a massive orc riding a stallion emerge. He raises his javelin to the sky and you see a bolt of lightning strike the javelin and swirl about the tip if the weapon. Then a group of fifteen orc warriors charge towards you. They are about 60 feet away from you.
OOC:
Please roll initiative and take your first turns.
@The new players: I run combat a little differently. Each combat round lasts 24 hours (Although i'm pretty lenient during the weekends). Everyone has 24 hours to take their turns but you don't need to wait for anyone before posting. Instead, please add an initiative roll to your first combat post and at the end of the round I will write up everyone's actions into a combat sequence.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

OOC:
Gonna try to do something, maybe it'll work, maybe not. Using Tides of Chaos on initiative, just gonna roll that first and act accordingly.

Edit: 18... going to make the post assuming Tomas is one of the first actors in this encounter.
Tense during the entire journey to the saw mill, this surprise ambush is one that Tomas had been prepared for but is simultaneously unexpected. This mercenary has seen a couple of half-orcs in his life, but hasn't crossed paths with a full-blooded orc, before. He can see how and why they've earned such a fearsome reputation as they sprint towards him and his allies. Still, at least they're not magical minions. "Perhaps they can be talked with," the half-elf thinks to himself. Then, to his artifact, he thinks, "Tell the big one 'He is my messenger. Listen.' with your magic, Spring. Please."

Tomas gets ahead of some of his slower companions and begins to shout, growing louder with each word, "Stop This - NOW!"

A stern, confident look is on this martial half-elf's face as he slams his shield with an open gauntlet three times, coinciding with his words. At his last roaring shout, electric sparks arc across the front of the shield - somewhat mirroring the orc leader's javelin. For a half-second, Tomas's eyes open a fraction wider in shock before he returns his gaze forward, maintaining his mask. Knowing this is a long shot, the half-elf's hand moves back towards the war pick at his hip - ready, but not yet drawn.
OOC:
Subconsciously casting Shocking Grasp on the shield.

Herod sees this happen, and he rushes about 20 feet up, next to a tree or some form of cover(a tree, fence, building, stack of logs, something), and takes a dodge action.
OOC:
He going to wait for the orcs to come closer. Once they come, he’s going to do some fun things ;)
Oct 6, 2018 3:42 pm
Seeing the man go down, Faebis will run forward, using all 30ft of his movement and attempt to get within 30ft of him so he can cast spare the dying. If I'm unable to get close enough I will use my action to dash and get within 30ft.
OOC:
Circle of Mortality let's me cast Spare the Dying as a bonus action and at a range of 30ft.

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20)

(7) = 7

Krigare swings his massive greatsword from his back in one smooth movement and steps forward. He calmly strides directly toward the oncoming fray timing his walk so as to meet the melee combatants on his terms, on ground of his choosing - not simply rushing toward them and the ground they've chosen.

He raises his gleaming red-black sword to eye level and touches the crossguard to his brow in salute as he strides confidently into battle. Making and holding eye-contact with the clear leader of the group, he calmly says, without raising his voice, "You.", points his blade, then swings it into a guard position as he continues his advance.
OOC:
He is baiting them closer. Once there are enough of them within 30' of him, he has a surprise for them.

Rolls

Initiative - (1D20+1)

(14) + 1 = 15
