"Yorrick, do not worry. There is no danger as yet, just questions. If danger arises, we will face it together."
Nov 21, 2018 12:03 am
"Hello, Yorrick, Jond. I'm Tomas. Herod. Ronda. Moon," he points at each of the others in the room in turn, "And Arwen. Who's something like... the student? Of the person we're trying to meet? Before we got taken to this demiplane. Funny that you two are talking about going north of Berda Trading Post, because that's where we came from. We were trying to get some help from Arwen's master, since some evil things are coming to attack that town soon. We can definitely lead you to Berda on our way back and, since you two look like adventurers, maybe you wouldn't mind helping out with defending the town too? For coin, of course. That's the pitch I gave Moon-" he hikes his thumb at the fur-covered humanoid "-at least, for all she doesn't care about money. And that's basically the general situation, Arwen, for you to tell your master, once we get back to the Tower from... wherever we are. Probably best out of your mouth, I'm guessing, since some wizards can be... particular."

After you finish your introductions you notice a spectral projection appear. It takes the form of a late middle aged human, of perhaps fifty-five to sixty years old with long brown hair and a beard both of which have mostly turned white with age. His eyes sparkle with ammusement as he looks at you all.
Greetings and welcome to my humble abode. I'm sure you can deduce that I am Alik. I hope that none of you were startled by my little prank. I can assure you that you are all quite safe, and once you leave this little game you will appear at the top of my lighthouse and we will meet more formally.
Anyway, I have a set of three challenges for you to test your mental acuity. The first awaits through this door.

He points to a section of the wall which suddenly forms into a corridor. Within you hear the sound of lively, yet somewhat childish music. The beat is quite catchy.
Bom bombombombom bom bombom bom bombombom bom bom bom.

What do you do?
Nov 21, 2018 5:04 am
Mental acuity, eh? Well... no reason to make the man wait.

Yorrick stretches and starts walking leisurely toward the door, hoping the others will follow.

Tomas shoots Arwen a put-upon look as he moves behind the blonde human. At the very least, he thought to himself, he wasn't getting blasted at or have minions set upon him on sight like back when he worked for the Arcane Authority.

"Not like we have much choice here. So, Arwen, you said your master might consider local nicknames rude... You didn't really say if they were fitting or not... Is this type of thing normal? For him?"
Nov 21, 2018 6:26 am
"So the Fey wasn't responsible for all of this," says Stalwart, mostly to himself. "Be right there, Yorrick."

He then turns to the others. "Arwen, Moon, Ronda, Herod, Tomas . . . if I've learned something recently, it's that there's no stopping Yorrick when he gets like this."

Stalwart tries to walk through the opening ahead of Yorrick. "Friend, allow me to go first. We don't know what we face. My armor has proven to be needed protection in the past."

OOC:
Is wizard's image still there? Or did it disappear?

OOC:
It is still there

After giving the nod to the newcomers, I listen to the speech of our 'host' and ponder for a few moments.

— Sorry, sir? I address the wizard's image. Few questions about this 'trial' if you don't mind. Does this 'game' involves three separate challenges in separate locations or they are combined? Should we be weary of possible combat in there or in between? Do we need to treat our path as possible hostile environment?

"And we're in a bit of a hurry!" Ronda adds, irritably. "Impending murder of innocents and all that."

To her companions she murmurs, "Here I was talkin' about balls, when I shoulda been more worried about marbles!"

The figure answers your questions
Yes, yes. Time is always of the essence. I'm sure the end of the world is coming or some such thing.
I could deduce that. No one comes to visit me simply to converse. Also, you know that I'm bound to ask you for a favour. You will deliberate before finally agreeing to my request. So I simply skipped these steps. You are doing me a favour right now by participaring in this study.
So if time is of the essence you'd best get on with it,
he says with a smile.
There is nothing dangerous in here besides yourselves. Three separate challenges all in this dimensional space, no combat. You'll know when you're done.

I nod to wizard's projection and move towards the door.

— Let's get moving then.
Nov 21, 2018 3:37 pm
Herod follows, walks up to be closer to the knight, flipping his coin in the air.
Nov 21, 2018 3:55 pm
Master Alik, I am confused. Am I to participate as well? Arwen feels a growing sense of unease about the whole situation.
Nov 22, 2018 3:09 am
Yes, and I will be monitoring your performance very carefully.

You all follow the corridor towards the music. After a few moments you begin to make out the lyrics to a song. It appears to be sung by a choir of children.

If you go down in the woods today you're sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today you'd better go in disguise
For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain
Because today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic

Every Teddy Bear who's been good is sure of a treat today
There's lots of marvellous things to eat and wonderful games to play
Beneath the trees where nobody sees they'll hide and seek as long as they please
That's the way the Teddy Bears have their picnic
Picnic time for Teddy Bears
The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today
Watch them, catch them unawares and see them picnic on their holiday

The corridor opens up into a larger, room sized space and hanging on the wall you see a set of ridiculous looking teddy bear costumes, in all sorts of shapes and sizes, complete with a stupid looking brown hat with teddy bear ears sewn onto the head but it leaves the face completely exposed.

There is another exit from the room. Looking out you see an open, spiral staircase leads to a massive room below you. Below you, you see a small forest setting and a whole bunch of teddy bears of various shapes and sizes dancing, singing, and playing, obviously the source of the music. Looking up you see a beautiful blue sky, and on the opposite side of the huge forest you see a big, gaudy looking golden door.

Yorrick stops walking upon seeing the costumes. He looks at Arwen as if this is somehow his fault. Seriously?
Nov 22, 2018 5:29 am
I... uhhh... so, teddy bears... let's be... good? Arwen sighs. Sorry, I had no idea this would happen, honestly. But only powerful wizards can create demiplanes, so I think we'd best just continue. Arwen will slowly pull a bear costume down and put it on, seeming to sink into it as he tries to make himself small.
Nov 22, 2018 6:23 am
[ +- ] Tomas to Spring
No stranger to humiliating circumstances, Tomas follows along with Arwen and wordlessly puts on a suit that's big enough to contain both him and his armor.
Nov 22, 2018 6:57 am
Stalwart dons one of the larger costumes. The Fey made more sense than this, he thought.

He says to the others, "It seems obvious we need to go through the golden door. But it can't be that simple. Do we need to sneak past the others without being seen? We need a plan."
OOC:
@Arina, are the Teddy Bears below actual stuffed bears or people in costume such as us?
