Highly improbable. The chances of you arriving here purely by chance alone are astronomically high. My first guess, is that a teleportation spell went awry
It happens from time to time. Or someone sent you here. But why erase your memory? Very strange. A puzzle indeed my friends.
How about the rest of you?

The newly-formed orc monk steps forward. Ai vould normally leaf theese parrt tu Tomas, but vee need jour hhelp. Berrda Treding Post hhas been onder attack by some necromancer searching for thheese creestal.

He gestures to Tomas to show the Shard.

"I can clarify my friend Yorrick's and my presence. My name is Stalwart Jond. I was following a calling from my god, Rao, to travel north, when I met Yorrick. The two of us were pulled into the Feywild for some time, then we ended up in your castle. To not remember experiences in the Feywild is not uncommon."

Bloody Fey he says with a curse. Yes, that sounds like something they might do. Still, it shows that my plane is susseptable to magical intrusion. I shall have to improve my tower's magical defences. I don't suppose any of you know and abduration specialists? No, I guess I'll have to return to the Tower with my tail between my legs and beg for forgiveness.

Then he turns to Herod Necromancer trouble you say? Well, we'll see if we can't sort that out for you. Where is this evil magic user's lair?
Dec 12, 2018 3:44 pm
Ay, ve arre not shoor. Perhheps Tomas ken speek tu hees talking creestal and tell ju.
Dec 12, 2018 7:01 pm
Yorrick looks quizzically at Herod, then to Tomas, then back to Herod.

Did you just say that you're taking directions from a talking crystal? Better yet, you are taking directions from a guy that is talking to a rock?

OOC:
Do we need to change stats to match our new race? I haven't done so yet b/c I wasn't quite sure what was going on with that.
Tomas just stares at Alik. It was one thing to see a projected image of him, another to see the wizard in the flesh. Intellectually, he knows that Arwen, who he's trusted up until this point, is also a wizard. Also, as Spring has reminded him so many times, he's a magic user too now, but still... Tomas, even with as crappy a memory as he used to have, can't help but overlay Alik's form with those of all the arcane murderers who died and killed in front of him. It's hardly different at all. His hand clenches and releases several times as he stares. Suddenly, he realizes that people are talking to and about him.

"Ah, yes, sorry. I have become the partner of a magical crystal. It can speak to me and helped fix my head and it does other things too. It's told me of many dangers that its creator from a long time ago fought against. Now it seems that world-ending danger is looming again. Me and my companions - well, just Herod now; we've met many new people along our way to you - were attacked in the dead of night by creatures whose master wants to take the crytsal - whose name is Spring, by the way. Now because of the fact that we stayed there, the entire Berda Trading Outpost and those nearby are under threat. Maybe even you, Tomas hesitates for a second, before coming up with a word, "Knowledgeable Alik might come under attack. Though your power might be beyond theirs. At any rate, myself, Herod, and Ronda-" Tomas points out each of the company mercenaries, "-are looking for intel on this enemy and any powerful help that you can provide either out of the goodness of your heart or for prices that the Western Trading Company will probably be happy to negotiate on. I... think that's it, though Spring will probably tell me I've missed something shortly. Um, did you have any questions... Knowledgeable Alik?"

Tomas reaches up to scratch through a non-existent beard, turning the motion into a stroke of his chin.
OOC:
For the sake of brevity, let's just say that, for almost any questions Alik has, Tomas will answer forthright and to the best of his ability. He'll share as much information with the man as he's shared with previous party members (Herod and the rest) e.g. the name Destroyer, the necromantic blood minions, etc. If it's a question beyond that, I'll answer IC. Does that work?

Don't worry about changing your stats.
Dec 13, 2018 7:42 am
Alik seems to notice your hesitation. Magic hunter, aye? Don't worry, I am a member of the Mages Guild of the Emerald Enpire which has a working relationship with The Sapphire Isles' guild. I am not an illegal practitioner. Anyway, where were we? You have been attacked and you think an attack is imminent. Well, why don't we take a look?

He asks you several questions about your past escapades and then takes you to a a large mirror. Then he casts a scrying spell and you all watch as a bird's eye view of the surrounding area is projected onto the mirror.
Hmm. Nothing seems to be wrong in the immediate area. Let's expand our vision a little. Let's look east, out to sea. Hmm, looks like a legion of Triton are in the area. I wonder if they might know something is upon us? Still, nothing else seems out of the ordinary there. West? Hmm. Can't see anything there. North? What the? Why are orcs approaching the pass to the north? The raiding season is over. Very odd indeed. Wow, there are a lot of them. Look, those tribes are sworn blood enemies. Why aren't they fighting each other?

Well, I don't see any undead forces in the immediate area but if those orcs are heading south then Berda will be in for one hell of a fight!
Dec 13, 2018 2:39 pm
Ay! Can ju please geev is somesing to hhelp weeth ze undead?

After thinking a moment, the new orc flips his coin and an idea forms!

Tomas, show hheeem how ze creestal creates skeltons. Perhheps Aleek ken enelize zet megick.
Dec 13, 2018 3:46 pm
Tomas nods curtly as Alik astutely determines his background. Well, if the man does harbor a hidden grudge about that, there's nothing Tomas can really do now.

After Herod speaks up, the elven man turns to the orc-ish monk, "Sorry, Herod. I need to rest and get back my energy before doing that again. Also, I could be wrong but I don't think it's the same type of magic. Not exactly. They're both in the same school... the school of unlife, the proper magic name for it being... neck-romancing? But I think the methods are different. Right, Spring?"
[ +- ] Tomas to Spring
Returning his focus to Alik, "Even if you have nothing to 'give,' just having advance warning on threats would be an incredible help. Would you somehow be able to send a quick message to Berda if you see any future threats?"
Dec 17, 2018 3:41 am
[ +- ] Spring to Tomas
I'll do more than that. I'll inform the mage guild in Northwatch. They can inform Lord Bradford. He may even send you some troops but it may be quite some time before they arrive. At least two weeks. Anyway, I will go to this Berda and see if I can't increase the town's magical defences. If the orcs march directly south they will be through the pass in 5 days. I recommend gathering all the people and food you can before then.
Dec 17, 2018 5:08 pm
The smile disappears from Stalwart. "Undead and orcs? No wonder the Fey sent me here. This dual threat must be thwarted immediately. The Fey's ways may be incomprehensible most times, but I believe their ultimate aims are pure."
Dec 17, 2018 7:17 pm
What are we to do with all these collected people? Is there a safe place to go?

Might it be better to spend the time setting up a defensive position?
Dec 18, 2018 1:14 am
OOC:
@Yorrick: I think that is the idea. Currently the party are trying to turn Berda into a defensive position. If you were to ask the party, they would tell you that workers from the mill are currently building a wall around the town. They would also tell you that it would be possible to fortify the Southern end of the pass but there is currently nothing there. It would take quite some time to fortify and it lies about 2 days north of Berda, so three days from your current location. You could try and evacuate the village and move South to Northwatch but that would be a long, dangerous journey.
Dec 20, 2018 5:54 am
"Perhaps we can find a way to remove whatever, or whoever, is uniting the orc tribes."
Dec 20, 2018 2:15 pm
Anyway, it is far to late to leave now. I insist that you spend the night here. In the morning you can decide youe next course of action. I will make a few preperations and then head to Berda myself.

Then he shows you to three double rooms where you all sleep soundly soothed by the ocean noises far below you.

You wake up, and find that breakfast has been prepared for you. Those of you who have been mahically altered find that your changes have reverted and you look normal again.

The tower seems otherwise abandoned and there is no sign of your host.
OOC:
Where to next everyone? You know that there is a monestary to the south. It is probably about 2 days journey away. Enough time to make it back to Berda assuming there are no complications. Or you could head back to Berda and see about rounding up the rangers, training the local farmers into a militia or otherwise preparing the town's defences. Or you could visit the Druid who lives West of Berda. That would take about two days assuming you don't get lost in the wilderness.

Let me know which option you prefer and we will take a vote
Dec 20, 2018 7:50 pm
OOC:
Two of us don't really know what our options are or really where in the world we are. We will probably have to defer to those that were here before us, or they will have to at least mention their thoughts on the options.

Tomas blinks and smiles wide with great sincerity at Alik's words, before bowing and stepping back among his newfound companions.

In the morning he awakes late to find his beard having regrown at night. Scratching through it, he thinks about the curiosity of magic.

Coming in late to breakfast, he finds the others discussing and wondering about the next steps people should take.

"Well, I haven't talked too much about it with Herod and Ronda, but I think our plan was to head back to Berda after asking Mage Alik for help. Check on how things are going before deciding our next step. Though, since Alik is going there, maybe we're not needed. But if Arwen is going to accompany his master and you two were headed to Berda for your own reasons, then it would make good sense to travel together. Especially if you're going to be joining the efforts to protect the outpost. Stick with each other. What are your thoughts?"
OOC:
Sorry for the delays - holiday season and what not.
