— I'm not staying for any suicide mission. I wave my hand at Yorrick. And also running head first into troubles? Without me.
Mar 22, 2019 8:08 pm
"Yorrick, our cause is just, but no one needs to die for it. I think we need to both divert the river and try to delay or stop the army by taking out their commander. Going after the scouts may take too much time since they are probably spread out."

"Lieutenant, are there other villages or towns between the border and Berda? Do we need to warn others? Can we expect refugees?"

OOC:
Diverting the river is the most likely to work solution, but the aggressive tactics are likely higher reward for higher risk.
OOC:
That is exactly how I see things. I don't mind telling you that I plan on making two rolls. The first will determine whether the river gets diverted and the second will determine whether the training of the villagers is successful. Depending on your actions I planned on adding a significant modifier to those rolls.

So if you helped to divert the river then I'd give a bonus to that roll and if you had decided to drill the villagers I'd give a bonus to that roll.

If you try and delay the orcs through either ambushing the scouts or assassinating the leader of the orcs then I will give a bonus to both rolls but if you fail then neither roll will get a bonus.

Does that make sense to everyone?

Ms. Fraught looks to Stalwart Thank you for your concern but no. There are no villages north of here. This isn't even a village truth be told. It is a secret enterprise of the Western Trading Company. It is a very dangerous place here but the Berda wood is a very important and expensive commodity. However, since we set up this little enterprise, farmers sick of the cramped conditions to the south have moved up here and built farms here and there. We have already warned them of the danger and most are behind the walls. We are still expecting one more family. They are probably on their way now.

Then she turns to Moon
I don't believe this is a suicide mission. We can win here. Alik is a powerful mage, and my marines and I are no strangers to battle and war. If we can hold out or even drive the orcs back, we can save our way of life. We do not expect you to do this for free. You will be paid 500 gold each if that helps to motivate you.

Duke will lend a hand as much as he can to help redirect the waters, till he plans to leave for helping stop the orcs.
OOC:
No idea what to roll. LOL.
Mar 23, 2019 3:02 pm
Yorrick is almost entirely untrained and unfit for combat himself. He would also go to help with the river until it is time to go.

OOC:
Just a quick summary of the situation.
You spent the whole day travelling from Oli's grove to Berda. It was sundown when you arrived and is now well into the evening.

You know that the orcs are going to show up either tomorrow night or the following dawn.

It looks like the group consensus is to try and either ambush the scouts or assassinate the orc leader. A risky plan, but if successful, will allow the defenders more time to prepare Berda's defences.

You are all tired from your battle and journey. You could either set out to the north and camp in the wilderness, which is pretty dangerous as its filled with Dire Wolves, or you could spend the night in Berda.
OOC:
What are your thoughts?

— Let's sleep on it, shall we? I offer to everyone. Many of you are still not recovered from that spider incident... So get some shut-eye and we'll decide on our next plan of actions in the morning.
Mar 25, 2019 2:32 pm
I think a good meal and night rest would help us all some. Duke says agreeing.
Mar 25, 2019 3:00 pm
"I am for spending the night here as well."
Mar 25, 2019 5:27 pm
Is there a place for us to rest here?
Mar 25, 2019 10:52 pm
At that, a small, young-looking halfling woman pipes up Yeah. We got some rooms upstairs. I'll get some food ready while you wash up.
OOC:
Assuming there are no nay-sayers. I'll move us along to the next day. You all gain the benefits of a long rest.
Mar 26, 2019 4:02 am
OOC:
A long rest would be great.
Mar 26, 2019 5:08 am
OOC:
I'm also not 100% sure of the plan
It looks like you want to go after the orcs but did we end up deciding whether to go after the scouts or the leader?
Mar 26, 2019 7:06 am
OOC:
I don't think there was a decision between the two. Upon reflection, I vote to go after the scouts by using ambushes and traps in the woods. I think we have a better chance of success doing that rather than going after the orc leader.

Also, can one or two of the party help divert the river to increase the chance of success?
Mar 26, 2019 7:33 am
OOC:
So you want to split the party? Insert evil laugh.
Mar 26, 2019 7:49 am
OOC:
On a more serious note though, yes, I will add +1 to the roll for each character who helps.
Mar 26, 2019 10:49 pm
OOC:
Splitting the party for a small bonus is kind of a terrible idea.
Mar 27, 2019 2:59 am
OOC:
Point taken. Then I think we should all go after the scouts and block forest trails to delay and confuse the orc army.
Mar 27, 2019 4:10 am
OOC:
A small party is a lot more effective if we would stick to the woods, for sure. Getting caught out in the open would probably spell our doom. I vote for Rpgventurer's plan.
