OOC:
Ok everybody. None of you are particulalry familiar with the terrain. How would you like to go about ambushing the orc scouts. I see this as a 3 step process, make a plan. Find the orcs, lay the ambush. The orcs are piling through a narrow mpuntain pass, and from there, you imagive their scouts will travel, East, West, South, South East, and South West. The quickest way from the mountain pass to Berda is to travel directly south west but if the scouts travel west, they will quickly come to the coast, if they follow the coast south for a day they will also hit Berda. So it might he your best bet to travel up the coast, although you may risk becoming surrounded by enemy forces.
Is there anything else you need to know about the geography to make your plans?
Is there any special equipment that you want.

OOC:
Moon would ask for maps of the region to ascertain what would be the best way to approach this and also try to predict orc scouts' movements. For equipment she would refill her quiver and get one spare. Studded leather armor would be appreciated as well.
If possible - she would ask for healing potions.

Stalwart seconds the motion for maps. He also asks for nets, ropes, spikes, bear traps and other items that can be used to ambush the scouts in the woods.
He asks the magic-users if they can put some kind of illusion on the coastal route to detour or damage the orc army.

OOC:
The equipment is probably fine. You live a life on the frontier, so detailed maps are not available. No one from the empire really cares what happens this far north. Your best bet is to find a local guide.Who are these magic users of whom you speak? The magic users in the village include yourselves, Oli, Alik the Mad, and Father Bennet, a priest of Pelor.

OOC:
Moon can also draw a map herself using words of locals as descriptions. Not detailed, but it would be better than nothing.Mar 30, 2019 11:15 pm
@Moon: You have no problem refilling your quiver and picking up a spare. You even manage to find a woman, roughly your size wearing a suit of studded leather armor. You explain the importance of your mission to her and she agrees to lend you her armor for the day. You take off your leather armor and give it to her and don her studded leather armor.
Unfortunately, when you speak to Ms. Fraught about healing potions, your request is flatly denied.
We are going to need all the healing potions we can get once the siege begins. I'm sorry but we have none to spare.

Stalwart tries to persuade someone in Berda about being a guide in the woods.
Stalwart also asks Oli, Alik, and Father Bennet if they can help in our plan with a spell or magic item.

You find a tiefling with a bow and arrows, wearing undyed brown leather armor. She seems to be the sort and you start chatting with her. It turns out that she is an apprenticed tracker, she knows the land quite well, but she doesn't have any combat experience. Her name is Nyx.
You find Oli and seek her help but when you find her she is watching over several cauldrons and stirring another.
Sorry, I'm busy making healing potions. They should be ready by nightfall. I'm not going to be of much use to you today.
Then you find Alik, and convince him to cast a scry spell for you. He manages to locate the exact spot of two groups of scouts. The first group has twelve orcs and they are all mounted on horse back. They have already arrived at the eastern beach and are heading south as we speak.
They are about six hours away north up the coast. They should be very easy to find and ambush.
The second group is closer, about four hours away but they are in the middle of the forest, heading south-east towards Berda. There are ten orcs in this group. They are all on foot.
Finding them will be hard, ambushing them harder but at least you know their position and how many there are. And they will not be expecting you.
Father Bennet turns to you and says What can I do for you my son? He seems very eager to help but he doesn't know how he can.

@Stalwart: Is there any form of interaction you wish to follow up on, or shall we move along?Apr 2, 2019 3:39 am
OOC:
Sorry. Busy day today. We can move on. I couldn't find or think of anything specific to request from Father Bennet.Apr 2, 2019 3:49 am
Nyx says No worries. They should be easy to find and ambush but how are we going to neutralise their horses?
Apr 2, 2019 4:28 am
Yorrick speaks up. I haven't spent a lot of time on the beach, but shouldn't the sand work to our advantage? I can't imagine horses can run in it much better than a person can. Also, maybe we can set traps to cause sinkholes?

— That depends if this particular beach is made of sand or rocks... I turn to Nyx Any hills or other good ambush spots there?
Apr 4, 2019 3:34 am
Actually, the whole area is kinda hilly. The beaches are sandy, so it should be pretty easy to dig traps. There are plenty of sand dunes to set up an ambush from. I can show you plenty of spots. Shall we go?
