OOC:
When they die, they explode in a pool of blood.
Lena takes aim and shoots the wounded assailant and it explodes in a pool of blood. The final figure looks at you all and lowers its weapons.

Give me the shard! The master has awoken. Give me the shard and he will spare this town. Defy him and every man, woman and child will be slaughtered.

OOC:
Since I technically go before Herod in initiative, if chief12justice feels like retracting his actions, could he?
Tomas, now safely beside his comrades next to the proprietor Lena, suddenly throws his arms up and waves them.

"Hold on, everybody, hold on! Let's hear what they have to say. Who is your master?"

Tomas then directs a thought to the shard, still lying under his sheets mere feet away from the assailant.

"Can you hear me at this distance? Did you hear that person talk about a master awakening?"

The creature takes the beating from Herod without flinching. The floor of the common room is now covered with blood.

The master knows your location. His forces are already on the march. Surrender.

Then, the shard instantly appears in Tomas' hand. The creature sees it and rushes toward you, with one arm outstretched.

Give me the shard! It screams fanatically.

OOC:
Tomas's turn is over, having attempted diplomacy but I do believe that triggers some reactions from Tomas's allies as they stand next to the enemy or between him and Tomas.
Jun 26, 2018 6:53 pm
OOC:
im not sure what position I’m in for initiative but I’m acting in reaction to Tomas’ words.
Sovelin moves as a reaction and attempts to slice the creatures arm off before it reaches Tomas.

Is there a way to roll more then one die when I’m doing attack and damage rolls? It gets a bit annoying to write the same thing over and over.
Jun 27, 2018 2:21 am
OOC:
I guess this is a continuation of the previous move?
Sovelin attempts to attack only the creature's arm while it is approaching Tomas(While attempting to not kill the thing).

"We were attacked by these... things. Lena, do you have any spare bandages around. You'll probably want to get some things to clean up this stuff too. They made a mess," Tomas tells Lena wearily.

To the investigative Sovelin, he asks, "Recognize anything?"

He then peers intently at the glowing shard in his hand that these assassins seemed to want so much.

@Sovelin: The blood has clearly been magically altered in some way. You recall that blood magic has been linked to dark cults that worship evil gods, demons and devils. You find absolutley no evidence that the creatures were here. It seems that all of their equipment transformed into blood the moment the creatures were destroyed. There really is no evidence of their passing but you imagine this is by design in order to sow distrust, as the eyewitness account cannot be supported by evidence and to prevent the assassins' creator from being identified.

OOC:
I just changed your last post into a spoiler so the others could read it. Otherwise they would miss important information
Jun 27, 2018 11:48 pm
Sovelin stands up and addresses Tomas mainly and then everyone else. Besides the fact that these things come from magic and that whoever did this is extremely crafty, nothing much. All evidence they were here is basically gone except for this blood. So what do we do now?

[ +- ] Tomas to Spring: Telepathy
Tomas looks distracted as Sovelin addresses everyone.

"Uh, right. How about we help Lena clean up this awful mess? For me, I'd like to patch up these wounds and, as Herod suggested, sleep and heal a bit."

Whatever the group does, Tomas follows along. When Lena leaves and the four are alone, Tomas begins to tell them many things in the early hours of the morning, before heading to bed.
OOC:
Or, if there are other people sleeping in the common room, he'd tell them in a private setting the following morning such as a nearby glade.
"So, this shard, the thing they were looking for... it can actually talk. It talks to me. It's magical. I mean, it's glowing, it's obviously magical. But Sovelin can tell you I used to be an idiot. Now I can talk fine. It's thanks to the shard. I've named it Spring. It has told me a lot, more than I think I can remember, but it knows some stuff. The first about the things that attacked us but also about a terrible, world-ending evil that is coming.

Spring was made by some powerful wizard called Titus Scientia Maximus about three thousand years ago. At that time, Titus banished some nameless evil from our world. Its goal is to destroy all life and then turn it into unlife. So we'd all become skeletons or something. Apparently, it's called the 'Destroyer of Worlds' since no one knows its actual name. And this Destroyer is now coming back in...

Tomas looks down at Spring for a split second, concentrating.

"eleven years and seventy-two days. I don't know if Spring was made before or after this banishment but it was made for the purpose of holding Titus's knowledge so that someone worthy of wielding Spring could maybe kill the Destroyer once and for all, something Titus was not able to achieve in his lifetime, or at least be banished again. ... Now that I'm saying it out loud, that's a really big deal. Jeez.

...
...
...

As for the things that attacked us, Spring says that they come from a spell that requires a lot of sacrificial blood and are used for assassination. Next time they attack us, we can figure out a little bit about who created them if we manage to unmask them. Since they keep the face of their creator as their face, for some reason. Since whoever made these things knows about Spring, it could be that they are working for or with the Destroyer.

Now, when we met you two, Herod said something before about his own magical trinket and that they somehow meant we ought to travel together. So, do any of you have anything to share about your magical items? Can they talk to you as well? Are they in any way related to this Destroyer or the magic of unlife? Even if it's just something you guess but can't prove? More importantly, are there going to be killer creatures coming after us, not just for Spring but for the things you are carrying too?"
OOC:
We can either resume or start and finish a long rest in the aftermath of this battle, correct?
