OOC:
I can't think of anything.

After several minutes of waiting, you hear footsteps approaching down the stairs. Moments later, the door opens back up and Habe steps out, holding the arm of a tall, sickly looking man in a straightjacket. The man's skin is pale and looks gangrenous, his hair is
wild, and eyes milky white.

He shuffles in slowly behind Habe, who directs him to a chair where he eventually sits down, head lolling and eyes unfocused.

"This is Grayst. As you can see, he is not well," Habe says, "He's sick and nothing we've tried has worked to heal the man of it. I think that his mind is too far gone that his spirit just no longer accepts the healing magic. Feel free to try to get through to him, though."
OOC:
If you're trained in Heal, feel free to roll me a check to see if you can figure out what's wrong with him

Gongar is taken aback by how bad the man looks. If he didn't know any better he would have thought the other man had escorted a zombie into the room. Cautiously approaching the very sick man he will try and ascertain what is afflicting the guard.

Gongar can tell that the man is clearly very close to death at this point. His skin sags and he wobbles unsteadily even as he sits. Hearing movement, he looks up and around at your group.

As his vision move across Urthask, his eyes bulge and he gasps, "He said. He said you would visit me. His Lordship. The one that unmade me said so. He has a place for you. A precious place. I'm so jealous. He has a message for you. He made me remember it. I hope I haven't forgotten. The master wouldn't approve if I forgot. Let me see ... let ... me ... see ... "

He begins to sweat as he grabs his head, trying to remember, before blurting out, "The master said that the bodies you are finding are signs and portents, that when he is done, you shall be remembered forever and the Misgivings shall be your throne!"

Habe's eyes widen and he looks very confused as he moves to the seated patient, "Oh my, I'm so sorry. I had no idea he would react this way. He has barely said a word since he got here... I... I'm so sorry!" he stammers as he tries to calm the very agitated patient.

As the man speaks, the word "Misgivings" sparks Gongar's memory. As he listens, he remembers hearing stories about the Misgiving, an abandoned estate to the south called Foxglove Manor... But isn't Foxglove the last name of the noble they rescued during the initial goblin attack?

A few moments after speaking, Grayst suddenly collapses to the floor, moaning softly. Habe bends down and checks him over, "I think this was all too much for him. I'd best get him back to his room."

"Well that was...disturbing," Shadow says wryly. "Where to next? The witness?"

Urthask looks long and hard at the man as he is led away. The half-rc clenches and unclenches his fists."I still don't understand how I've become implicated in all this. Who could this master be, and what do they want with me?"
Sep 24, 2018 5:34 pm
"Misgivings" is another name for Foxglove manner that belongs to the nobleman we rescued at the festival. That can't be a coincidence in my opinion. Turning to his friend Urthask, We know you have nothing to do with these killings Urhtask, and the faster we find the person responsible the faster your sward and my hammer can give them a proper send off the the next realm.

OOC:
Do you want to wait for Habe to return? Or do you want to do something else now?
Sep 24, 2018 6:21 pm
OOC:
did we get the sense he might have some further information? Maybe its my interpretation of your description of him but he sounded like an airhead to me so I don't know how much use sticking around would be.

OOC:
He seems... distracted and annoyed by your presence. It could be the stress of his work or it could be something else altogether.

Gotta admit I haven't got a clue here.

OOC:
You really aren't supposed to have much idea at this point!

What you know so far:
1. There's been a series of murders in the area, all involving the seven-pointed star that you saw among Nualia's followers
2. The murderer seems to have some knowledge of Urthask and appears to be trying to frame him
3. This Grayst person has mentioned the "Misgivings", which appears to be linked to Aldern Foxglove, the man you saved from the goblins in the initial attack and then went boar hunting with

"Did that Habe fellow seem unusually unfriendly? Maybe we should find out if there's other odd things going on around here. Maybe this fellow isn't the only one that's 11 loaves short of a dozen."

If you want to go check something out, let me know. I'll link the map here so you can see options

As you sit and consider your options, your noses picks up the scent of rotten meat.

"Do you smell that?" Urthask draws his sword. "The murderer is here. Or was here recently."
Sep 28, 2018 4:26 pm
That can't be good, Quickly see where its coming from!
OOC:
Gongar moves around the room trying to identify the source of the smell.
