WoD: Hunters/Hunted

So I've been inspired to try and run a game idea that my friends and I have been brewing since high school. It was inconceivable to run IRL, But I think it could work in PbP.

Using World of Darkness rules, we pit two groups of PCs against each other. One as Predator and the other as Prey. We can work out the plot details together. But the prey will have some kind of win condition (other than not being caught/killed) and the Predators goal is to kill the prey.

I'm initially thinking Werewolves tracking Vampires but we can discuss that as agroup .

Anyone interested?

It would take me a bit to set this up and figure out the details but I wanted to gauge interest first.

I'm not familiar with World of Darkness, but that sounds like a good time. Don't know how many players you're looking for, though.

Well we’d have two separate teams so it would be a decent sized group. If there was enough interest I could see this game being somewhere in the 6-10 player range. I’m nervous to have much more than that seems like a lot.

Would the hunters be more powerful than the prey or is it going to be equal combat? Also would the focus be more on how the prey can avoid conflict with the hunters (ie very little pvp) or would the game be about the prey prepping for an attack by the hunter (ie few planning posts the direct pvp)?

Still working on the details, but I’d like it balanced in such a way that the prey is very much discouraged from just making a stand. The prey will have a primary win condition that they are seeking aside from survive. The predators would be at either a decided tactical or power advantage in a straight fight

At some point direct pvp is inevitable and I’m hoping not to be too railroad-y. Once the game starts, what happens, happens and everyone is playing for keeps.

I expect at least at first, the prey game will be a fairly normal WoD game until they become aware of being hunted. The hunter game I expect will involve a lot more investigation and tracking leading up to attacks. Hopefully a couple good chase scenes in there too.

I think you are on the right track WarDomo. A motivation for the prey that makes running away (like...totally running...leaving the city/country) a no-go idea, is the right approach in my mind. But it has to be something the hunters don't have direct control over, at least at the start of the game.

I am curious, which version of WoD you intend to use? New or Old? I have mostly physical copies of Old that i would have to dig out, New is a little of both (digital and physical) but more easily accessible. Also, will you be using the canon setting of those versions? (Like Camarilla & Sabbot or the Covenants in Vampire) Or a more generic "anything-goes" setting?

I’m more familiar with Old World of Darkness and I have some ideas about plugging it into some meta plot to drive the motivations.

Bump. Still interested in adding players. We're still discussing the basic parameters of the game so it's a good time to get in on the conversation.

I've narrowed the options down to one of the following:
1. Werewolves hunting Vampires
2. Vampires hunting Werewolves
3. Hunters hunting Vampires
4. Hunters hunting Demons

If we put the PVP element aside for a moment. I'm like to play hunter or a demon. I've never played a demon but it would be cool to try.

Update: We've decided to go with Hunters vs Demons. We'll be starting character creation next week. If anyone is on the fence about joining it's still a great time to join

A lot of folks will be new to the system so don't worry about that. All I'm.asking for is people who are active and actually roleplay their characters. PvP is just one element of this game. There will be actual story arcs for both sides of the conflict.
