Prologue: Troubles at Red Larch.

"If you require rest, perhaps it would be best to take one." Yohna says, laying a hand on Keavan's shoulder, as if in consolation for the empty chest. "I'm afraid it must be brief, though... Let us not forget why we're here. Still, it'll be difficult to save anyone if we're battered and bruised."

Breezy moves down the tunnel only so far as the light will allow him to still see, not wanting to get everyone trapped in a dead end. Calling out to those at the end, he says "I have sssmall amountsss of healing I can give, though my ssstrength wanesss. A brief ressst would ssserve me no good, but if we can do so and pressserve my ssstrength for dire need, I am in agreement; though not at the end of a blocked passsssage. While more difficult to defend, I prefer an open fighting arena to a coffin."

"Agreed, it would be wise to keep an escape route open.
I would not suggest it if I felt there were any other option."

Moving back up the tunnel and into the larger chamber, Breezy sits so that he can see anything coming from the other exits. There, he will sit, grab another loose stone and begins to murmur silently. As he does, a glowing ember of light begins to form within the stone. As the light grows, the previous stone begins to fade, until the beacon sits on the floor in front of him and the light within the stone down the tunnel with the dead shadow winks out of existence.

Midnight plops down on the ground near Breezy and his light. "A rest sounds good." She pulls out a biscuit from her bag and begins to nibble on it. She spaces out, looking at nothing in particular, as she attempts to process the creatures they have encountered in this place.

Vardo, more angry at himself for having fallen for such a basic trap...yet again, than exhausted or hurt, leans against a wall. He's been around long enough to know you rest when you can because you don't know when the next opportunity will come along. So he shuts his eyes and allows the tip of his rapier to dip to the floor. But the sword remains in his hand and his senses stay alerted to his surroundings. He enters a semi-meditative state and allows his body to recuperate some before they are to head out again.

Keavan follows, barely staying upright, finally slumping to the ground to rest.
He takes a long drink from his waterskin and then splashes some on his face, before settling down for an hour.

Somewhat refreshed, Keavan starts at the sound of the scream.
"I guess that's our cue, let's move."
Silently hoping his need for rest has not cost Harlo his life.

The scream shakes Breezy somewhat, but the gathered group of heroes helps steel his nerve. "Lead the way, friend Keavan. Let'sss cleanssse thisss unholy place."

Checking his crossbow, and releasing the safety, the Genasi stands to take his position near the rear.

As she is recuperating from her remaining wounds, Yohna is unable to get any actual sleep. That and the general unease she feels at being in a cave filled with undead, the very thought of which makes her blood boil. That said, she instead manages to tend to the worst of her injuries.

When the scream bellows through the caverns, however, the cleric jolts to her feet. "That was..." She grits her teeth and picks up her shield, trying to hone in on the source of the noise.

"We must hurry!"

Midnight steels herself and stands, falling into her place in the middle of the group. "We can't let anyone else die in this stinking cave. Come on!"

Vardo's eyes snap open at the sound but he does not move. Looking to Midnight he says, "I share your sentiment, Midnight. I, too, do not want anyone getting caught up in the evil machinations of this place. However, this could be a trap."

He uses a shoulder to gently punch off the wall and comes to his full height. "Yohna, I think caution is warranted here. We should advance, I agree, but we need to be methodical. The madman who calls this place his lair has issued a challenge to us. This is his domain, and I find it oddly coincidental that this scream comes as we are resting."

Yohna stops her stride, gritting her teeth, but calms herself and nods. "Well said, master Vardo. It'll do us no good to rush blindly. Let's form up and proceed as we have been. In fact, pay extra attention to your surroundings, everyone. Clearly, we have the 'lord's' attention."
