OOC:
Just so I get a clear picture. It's just Toe and Fhenryl going up scouting right?Sep 8, 2018 3:12 am
OOC:
Toe, Fhen, Rand and Jaqir all rolled Perception...I didn't roll because the instructions to roll were for people going upstairs. So 4 by my count.Sep 8, 2018 5:53 am
Toe slowly parts the curtain and sneaks through to the base of the stairs. He looks up to make sure the coast is clear before making his way slowly up. Fhenryl follows closely behind, a bolt readied for when he finally spots his foe. Once his head is high enough that he can finally see the landing, Toe looks to the left and to the right, but doesn't see anyone. The others come up behind and don't see anyone either. There's a door at the end of the landing to the left, and one immediately at the top of the stairs to the right.
Jaqir spots it - a waver in the wall, what looks like a tiny bit of movement at the leftmost end of the landing, and two bright blue orbs that seem to blink once and then disappear into the wall. He blinks once or twice because it really doesn't look like there's anything there, but he saw SOMETHING.

Roll initiative! For clarity, whatever Jaqir spotted was at the far end of the upstairs landing, against the south wall near the door.[ +- ] Ghelves Locks

Fhenryl tenses up for action, the hairs at the back of his neck bristling, heavy crossbow at the ready.
OOC:
I thought he'd be holding one melee weapon in each hand as he went up the stairs, but since you mentioned the crossbow in your description I figured we could go for that, instead... I also just realized this wasn't 5e's two-weapon rules, and he'd be at a massive disadvantage using his warhammer AND his handaxe at the same time.Last edited September 8, 2018 1:16 pm

No worries at all. ^_^ We all have lives. I want everybody to feel relaxed and have a good time, not to stress about posting. The game will go how it goes.Sep 10, 2018 3:08 am
OOC:
Fhenryl, Toe and Rand will go first, followed by me, then Elveron, Jaqir and Kija will go. We'll work in batches like this so that we don't have to specifically wait for anyone. Anyone who doesn't post in a day will be skipped and we'll just move on as if they were not involved for that round.So... Fhenryl, Toe and Rand: how would you like to proceed?
Sep 10, 2018 3:15 am
OOC:
Not sure if Fhenryl actually noticed anything as he got to the upper floor, but if he did, he'll advance towards the part of the wall where the blue orbs were... if not, he'll take a look at the ground and his surroundings, trying to note any sign of unusual activity, tracks, markings, tripwires, incongruous objects, etc. In any case he's got his weapon ready. He's also moving in a sliding motion against the wall to be less of a target in case of a ranged or a magic attack.Last edited September 10, 2018 9:58 pm

Toe puts his hand over the hilt of his rapier as he walks carefully towards end of the hall where the movement and the blue orbs were spotted by Jaqir.
OOC:
I assume Jaqir notified rest of us what he saw. Toe will check the wall and also the door, see if he can hear anything through the door. Is there anything equivalent to a ready action in Pathfinder? If so, I'll ready an attack as soon as I see something "nefarious".Rolls

Raising his shield Rand waits while the others travel ahead.

Jaqir whispers to the group that he has seen something strange -- some blue orbs near the wall at the left end of the landing. Nodding that they've understood the warning, Toe and Fhenryl carefully make their way down the hall toward the disturbance, both of them ready to attack the first thing that moves.
Toe makes his way toward the door at the end of the hall, and just as he gets close enough to open it, the wall itself seems to shift in shape and change color, revealing a pale blue-skinned humanoid with piercing blue eyes holding a short sword. It was camouflaged like a chameleon against the wall, holding the sword behind its back. The creature thrusts its weapon at Toe, but the halfling was ready for it and dodges out of the way, returning with a thrust of his own.

Toe nimbly ducks and dodges the chameleon humanoid's attack. Toe sees his opening and recalling back to his training, he uses his small size against the attacker and quickly rolls into the its space, between its legs. He then in one quick motion unsheaths and thrusts his rapier upwards to the foe's backside. Toe whispers to himself, "I can't believe that worked. You're a genius Alders!"
EDIT: I'm assuming the creature is medium sized.
OOC:
Toe is spending one panache point to use Underfoot Assault as immediate action then going to attack. If Fhenryl is adjacent to me/foe then both of us are considered flanking the foe. (See below for description)EDIT: I'm assuming the creature is medium sized.
[ +- ] Underfoot Assault
At 1st level, if a foe whose size is larger than the mouser’s is adjacent to her and misses her with a melee attack, the mouser can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet into an area of the attacker’s space. This movement does not count against the mouser’s movement the next round, and it doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. While the mouser is within a foe’s space, she is considered to occupy her square within that foe’s space.
While the mouser is within her foe’s space, the foe takes a –4 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks not made against the mouser, and all of the mouser’s allies that are adjacent to both the foe and the mouser are considered to be flanking the foe. The mouser is considered to be flanking the foe whose space she is within if she is adjacent to an ally who is also adjacent to the foe. The mouser can move within her foe’s space and leave the foe’s space unhindered and without provoking attacks of opportunity, but if the foe attempts to move to a position where the mouser is no longer in its space, the movement provokes an attack of opportunity from the mouser. This deed replaces opportune parry and riposte.

Fhenryl instinctively lets out a cry of alarm as their very unusual-looking opponent reveals himself, then his brow rises even higher in surprise when he witnesses his new halfling comrade plunging head first in between the blue humanoid's legs. As the mouser emerges on their enemy's blind side brandishing his small, flexible blade, the ranger instantly understands he has to grasp the opportunity to strike: in one split second, he lets a bolt fly loose at the creature's face then lets the big crossbow fall by his side as he grabs his warhammer in both hands with a fluid, practiced movement and closes the distance between them in a few wide, bounding steps.
OOC:
Using his bonus action to swap weapons after his shot and get into close combat, hopefully can use the flanking advantage on his next round...Last edited September 11, 2018 2:35 am

Toe deftly maneuvers between the creature's leg and thrusts upward with his rapier, sticking the creature in its backside. The creature jumps, clutching at its bottom and turning to try to move away from the halfling who is now seriously invading his space. Fhenryl looses a crossbow at the distracted creature, hitting him in the right shoulder. The creature howls in pain and stabs wildly between his legs trying to hit Toe but hits nothing.

Question to DM: how do the subduing/non lethal damage rules work here? Do we have to call it out at the beginning of the fight, or as the enemy hits 0 HP?Sep 11, 2018 12:14 pm
OOC:
I submitted my character, can you see if it can be accepted? Would be easier to post as Dracone. Not that my actions will improve but, maybe. LOLThey are no longer acting quiet, the firing of a crossbow and running footsteps, time to act.
Dracone has been at the bottom of the stairs waiting, knowing something is up there but, not able to help until now. With determination on his face, his heart racing as he will finally be entering real combat for the first time, he bounds up the stairs to assist his comrades in combat, hoping he isn't late and hoping he will not fail them.
