The third group leaps from the trees at the witch on her broom, hoping to bring her down to the ground. Not all of them grab her, to them, trying to pull down the broom must seem like a good idea.

A quick twirl on her broom, and Carlin evades all of the raccoons, who seem surprised to be falling towards the earth. They land with a satisfying thud. Chuton manages to break free of the ones trying to hold him down. Good thing too, since the black thing is coming to him...

"The tide has turned," Chuton says aloud to Carlin. "Let us fall back towards the village. I shall cover our withdrawal!" With that, the dragonborn puffs out his chest and sucks in a breath before letting it out in a roaring gout of flame.

Without looking to see if the non-raccoons or black liquid are affected, Chuton disengages from the battle and begins to head towards town.

Action Surge. First action to use breath weapon. Anyone in a 15-foot cone from Chuton takes 2d6 fire damage, or make a Dexterity save DC 11 for half damage.

Second action, Disengage, and full movement to leave.

Oh my gosh, my bad, it was blob's turn... Well now is Carlin!
The black globe apparently doesn't want Chuton getting away and attempt to chase, but is much too slow to keep up with him. With Carlin flying above, there's not much it can do, but give chase.
The only ones that manage to escape the fiery blast are, surprisingly, the large raccoons. jumping higher than should be feasible, some of them manage to grab low hanging branches to escape. The others fall back into the flames, quickly burning.
The lanky raccoons, having not recovered from their fall, are not so lucky, and end up a quivering, burning mess on the ground.
The black ball of liquid falls to the ground, having made no obvious attempt to dodge, and showing no signs of discouragement.

More black liquid from the dead raccoons, still pooling on the ground near them.

No longer in danger from flying raccoons, Carlin sends a trio of magical darts toward the black blob.

The blob gets knocked back a tiny bit on its "legs" as each bolt sinks into it, then detonates in a small flash inside of it. The black blob falls to the ground after, then sprouts a new tendril for each downed raccoon, reaching out for it. The large raccoons lose their grips on the branches and fall down into the expanded field of goop. On all fours, they start retching, as if to puke.

So Chuton is leaving and Carlin is staying to fight?

Chuton continues on his way back to the village. He spares a glance at Carlin to assess her intention and whether she will need assistance.
OOC:
Full movement back to the fields. If Carlin is not moving, Chuton will take the Dodge action. If she is moving, he will Dash.

The blob connects with the burnt raccoons, and draws more of itself from them. Mini globules of liquid travel through the tendrils, and on reaching the center, three shoot upwards at Carlin, with a thin web between them. On contact the ooze burns, sizzling slightly, as it sucks away at Carlin's energy.

Carlin: Dex save 13 for half damage. Damage is necrotic.

Carlin again attempts to swerve on her broom, highly unnerved by the reaching tendrils. Managing to avoid some of them, she turns toward town and follows her companion.

Carlin can easily catch up to Chuton on her broom, and the black goop seems not to be interested in following.

I count 8 rounds, so not a significant amount of time. Also you both moved mostly directly from splitting with Isuna to this, so... I think we'll rejoin the party. Does this sound good?
