OOC:
Is another Stealth check in order? Or do we assume this little skirmish distracts them enough for us to continue?
OOC:
No, you already made a roll to move where you wanted and that encounter was the outcome of that. Now you've resolved it I'm going to say you have a clear run to a good spot to observer the camp.
You move quickly to put some distance between you and the goblins you bumped into, quickly finding yourselves cresting a wooded ridge to the east of the goblin camp. From your point of cover you can see the goblin camp is a ramshackle affair, most of the goblins seem to sleep out in the open as there are only two hide covered tents - one has a smoke trail coming from the top and the other goblins seem to keep their distance (you assume it is for the leaders use) the other seems to be still but a couple of goblins stand at the side of it looking pretty bored. Most of the goblins in the camp seem to be interested in doing their own thing, fighting with one another for the most part, but a couple that appear slightly more serious than the others are wandering about mostly beating the others to get them to start doing whatever tasks need doing.

Jabari frowns at the sprawl of the camp. "That's a lot of goblins." He scratches his beard for a moment, his gaze fixed on the camp. "Maybe we can cause a distraction to draw most of the rank and file away. Then we swoop in and subdue the leaders." The man grins and shrugs. "I mean, I'm brave, but I'm not suicidal."
May 10, 2019 7:44 pm
"There's a guarded tent possible prisoner or cache and two lieutenants to deal with besides the Matriarch. I'm a bit curious about the other tent but regardless taking out the two vigilant ones quickly will give us the option of mass confusion with no chain of command from the others if the Matriarch isn't aware of our doings... Maybe the food supply for diversion... do they even think that far ahead?" Pomin mutters trying to figure out things in his head his head rocking from side to side as he muddles through it, "Anyone know any good assassination techniques?"
May 12, 2019 8:35 am
Jabari - as you are talking about possible distractions you begin to feel a warm sensation coming from your pack accompanied by a sensation of almost eagerness.
OOC:
Anyone can make me an Average Perception check with a setback die due to the failing light if you want to try to pick out any other details
May 12, 2019 4:46 pm
"Stab em' in the neck." Khurza whispers bluntly. "Make an example out of one, watch as the others flee in terror."
OOC:
I will pass on that.
May 12, 2019 6:07 pm
Jabari tries to ignore the djinni for the moment—at least until they have a better idea of what their options are. He looks to Pomin. "You good with that bow? A flaming arrow setting one of those tents on fire might be the distraction we need."
OOC:
Jabari will pass on the Perception check. But he's mulling over whether it's worth asking the djinni for guidance.
May 13, 2019 1:07 pm
"If we take out the two vigilant ones first there'll be more panic on what to do possibly... we kind of need to deal with someone who might be in one of those tents... if there's captives I'd hate to have to report or think about we burned someone alive..." Pomin mutters still at a point of indecision shaking his head from side to side.

As you stare out over the camp two things jump out at you. The first is that you pick out a decent looking route that should let you get to the rear of the tents, out of sight of the guards. The second is that a large number of the goblins, ten by your count, seem to be getting ready to head out which should leave around six goblins in the camp (from the ones that you can see).

"Right we need to hide and keep our vantage, they're mustering for sortie likely for a patrol with about half the camp's numbers... Who would have thought doing nothing for a bit would be this helpful?"
May 13, 2019 2:21 pm
Jabari seems relieved to see the surveillance pay off. "We still might have to deal with that raiding party if we take too long at the camp." He studies the path a moment and points two fingers toward the tent. "But we can't bee too noisy getting to that tent. Else we might stir the hornets' nest—especially since we don't know who's in there." He looks to the Orc and Gnome. "Who's it you're looking for exactly?"
May 13, 2019 3:16 pm
"We just need to bring back the head of Muglack... maybe find info on Long Beard, check the other tent to see if it's a prisoner or a cache of some sort or... Mug's boss."
May 14, 2019 1:33 pm
OOC:
Looks like we have 4 Story Points in the pool. Using 2 now.
Jabari stares intently at the tents for a moment. At any sign of Pomin or Khurza attempting to say something, he holds up a finger as if to shush them. He seems to be holding his breath. He shudders. Then he rummages around in his pack and produces a tarnished brass lamp.

"So, forgive me a bit of desert magic, Coldlanders. This spirit has plagued me since before I came to your frigid lands. But it's been a bit more… cooperative ever since I came north." The man rubs the lamp with a cloth and holds it up to his ear. "Djinni! Wake up, you! Are there any prisoners—prisoners who are not goblins, you devious fiend—in this camp below us?"
OOC:
Leaving the particulars of how this djinni manifests to you, McNeils! Does the djinni manifest? Can the others see and hear it? The ability's supposed to be usable in the midst of combat, so I suppose the djinni doesn't need to be invoked in this way or to appear in any visible way (but presumably can if it wants to). Rules of the ability would suggest that the djinni can communicate with Jabari directly while still stashed in the pack. But Jabari doesn't necessarily know any of that.

As Pomin and Khurza watch the shadows seem to gather round Jabari before moving in the direction of the goblin camp before gathering back round Jabari a few moments later. A whispered, serpent like voice seems to come from the wind around you all "You alwayss sssummon me for sssuch mundane tasksss Jabari, if you were to releassse me I could be of ssso much more assistanccccceee" the voice seems to sigh, knowing such arguments typically prove fruitless. As the shadows seem to get drawn back into Jabari's pack the voice fades, whispering as it does "There are no prisssonersss in the camp"

Jabari stares at the lamp a moment. His voice is barely more than a whisper: "Odd. It's never spoken to me from inside the lamp before…." The outlander stuffs the lamp back into his pack and closes it. "This, this thing—we call it a djinni. It's why I am in your sun-forsaken lands. He keeps me alive thinking I will someday free him. Free it." He holds the sack up to his face. "It's not happening, you hear me? Not going to happen!"

Jabari throws the pack back onto his back and sighs. "So, no innocent prisoners to rescue. So much for heroics. Guess we sneak down to the nearest tent and take out the sentries?"

Pomin agrees as the group moves to begin the assault once the patrol is left for some time.
May 15, 2019 4:50 pm
Khurza makes a mental note to ask Jabari about the intricacies of this djinni later.

"Agreed, act with haste and the patrol won't even return in time."

mcneils5 says:
As for the Stealth issue when you are moving as a group it would be a group check so the person with the highest dice pool would make the check with usual additions for Skilled/Unskilled assistance (whilst this seems counter intuitive to some I view it as extra eyes keeping a lookout whilst moving) and you would need 1 net success per individual moving in the group, 3 in this case.
OOC:
So, I think this would qualify as Unskilled Assistance, yes? Looks like Pomin should make the check plus 2 boosts for the pair of us oafs following behind. Might be worth a Story Point flip to increase our chances of making it down without stirring the hornets' nest. I have my Human species ability in our back pocket to flip one back if need be.

OOC:
Nope, it's 2's across the board now. Ok, stealth roll will be Average but I'm spending a Story Point to upgrade it and you will get 2 Boost die for unskilled assistance, another for it being dark, and a forth for using the route you spotted for cover.

Total of 1 x purple, 1 x red, 4 x blue plus whatever dice you end up adding in.
