Round 2 Summary
Mind blanking and body seizing up, Ras barely manages to get off a crackling lightning bolt before succumbing to the strange psychic power, leaving Fergy as the party's sole defender.
Fergy stands between the two approaching horse-squids and the party. As another wave of psychic energy washes over the group, the dwarf sorcerer shrugs it off and works his mighty spell.
One of the creatures, already weakened earlier by Zenithral's arrows, trembles violently until its head explodes in a shower of steaming tentacles. The other lopes forward, squid face flaring as it continues its mental assault on the party (Ug, Zen, and Erevain take 23 psychic damage are still stunned).
The companions, however, are strong and determined. Many of them begin to move their faces and hands as they reassert control over their bodies.
But then disaster strikes as yet another of the terrible beasts shows itself, coming up from behind and latching onto Zenithral's head with piercing tentacles. It pulls the half-elf to the ground and fills his nose, ears, and mouth with rubbery, probing appendages (Zen takes 7 more psychic damage and is grappled. He is also stunned until the grapple is broken!).

"Get off of him, you... you... YOU!" Alalla grabs the monster by the throats and tears it away from Zenithral before laying into it with her flaming sword.
Alalla shoves S4 off of Zenithral. S4 then takes 30 damage and must make a strength save or be knocked prone.

Fergy slides an up to Zen as he's getting to his feet and whispers in his ear, "You got this buddy." Then Fergy quickens a firebolt and throws it at SF3.

With a squishy *pop* the tentacles are pulled free and Zenithral is left gasping for air - but with his brain in place, intact, and undevoured. Then Fergy is there providing magical relief.
The creature clambers back to its hooved feet and wheels on Alalla, tentacles flaring as it unleashes a mind blast on her, Fergy, and Ras. Alalla and Ras manage to keep their wits about them, but Fergy feels control of his motions begin to slip away under the mental pummeling (Fergy takes 26 psychic damage).
The creature moves forward again to try to feast, but another lightning bolt from Ras strikes its flank, then forks on to zap the other griff.
The other griff shakes from the impact, but stalks over to Ug and snuffles the barbarian with fleshy tendrils. The creature searches every inch of the goliath's body, but doesn't seem able to locate his brain. It is just slipping curious tentacles beneath Ug's loincloth when Fergy's fire spell takes it in the back of the head, igniting it and ending its life.
The dwarf sorcerer then succumbs to the psychic power scrambling his thoughts (Fergy is stunned.).
One griff remains. It rises from to its full height, still smoking from Ras' lightning spell.

With powerful beats of its tarred wings the squid creature takes to the air, lifting by Alalla by head. The pressure is immense, and dimly Alalla knows that in moments her skull will be cracked open like a melon.
Ras' lightning bolt pierces the air with an almighty *crack*. Woman and monster fall to the ground in a tumble of limbs (Al takes 11 bludgeoning damage). With the creature dead, Alalla gains the presence of mind to rip the invading tentacles free of her face and extricate herself from the pile, covered in slime and tar.

Erevain rushes toward Alalla, concern painted over his elven features. "Rarely have I felt so helpless! A death here would be far worse than betrayal and being eaten by giant spiders." He shudders and looks about. "We appear to have killed all those in the vicinity, but with that wall open to the air, more may arrive at any time. I suggest we keep moving!"

Alalla frowns. "Don't talk like that. No one is dying here." She reaches out to touch his face but stops when she notices the tar marring her gauntlet. "Yes, let's move." Al grunts as she tries to unstick her sword from her hand. She gives up.
"Zenithral, can you do your thing?" Al asks as they walk, twiddling her fingers as though casting a spell over the tar and ooze coating her skin and armour.

"My, er...thing?" Zenithral asks uncertainly, standing up warily. He sees her struggle with her sword. "Oh, yes, of course..." He casts prestidigitation to clean the tar off, then he shivers and shakes his head vigorously. "Yes, let's make haste."
