Popping up behind the Larva Mage, Vincent stabs him with his sword, kicks his hip and head bashes him in the nose unleashing a flurry of blows. As the Larva Mage reels from these attacks Vincent's final punch goes wide. Pulling his sword out from the squirming larvas, Vincent is ready to block incoming attacks with his sword.

Vincent gets +2 AC, Larva Mage takes 31 damage.

Sorry forgot to add my +5 to the unarmed attacks, also Vincent's walking speed is 45.
Seeing his hope for winning flee, and not understanding that they are so low on health, Vincent runs away following them, and probably taking an attack of opportunity.

Zenithrals radiant wings start to form as fear fills his eyes, but Alalla's hasty retreat shocks him out of it and he follows.

(Takes the Dash action. If any ally would be reduced to 0 hit points, Zenithral uses Martyr's Empathy)

Ras's eyes go first to the gem, still in Ug's hands, and then rest on the spot where he last saw Fergy. He sees Fergy's cloak, coated in Fergy's dust, and impulsively grabs for it. Then, with a yell at Ug, he turns on his heel and runs after Al and Zen.

Ras also uses Dash, but first quickly grabs Fergy's cloak.

The shock of seeing his mother almost overwhelms Ug but the pain afterwards jolts him back to his senses. He notices only now the full chaos around him, how close he was to dying in this cursed place, and a very angry lich advancing on him. Ug hears ras voice and dashes after his friends.

Round 1 Summary

Chaos.

As horrific powers are unleashed, the Hand continues to tremble.

The larva mage reacts first. With each of Vincent's blows, many grubs and worms flake to the ground, crushed. It whirls on the strange swordsman, only to find him vanished. Chittering incoherently, it raises its staff high and issues a magical blast that zaps both Larrel and the slimy whale (Larrel takes 9, whale takes 8).

The whale hefts its bulk up and rolls over to gaze about with one watery eye. Being out of its usual element and seeing that the most threatening foes will almost certainly be immune to its usual charms, the creature does the logical thing and goes berserk. Tentacles and tail fin lash out in every possible direction... resulting in Gelarith being seized and splattered in frighteningly quick succession.

Focusing primarily on speed, the party twists and dodges through the fray. Most of them are fortunate to get out unscathed, but Alalla and Zenithral each take a hit from a whale tentacle. Alalla shrugs off the hit, but Zenithral begins to feel queasy... (Al takes 11, Zen takes 9 and is diseased)

An elvish curse from an age long gone leaves Larrel's withered lips as the party runs. He reaches out with a skeletal hand to seize Ug and sap away his strength, but Ug manages to pull away from the undead chill and refuses to succumb to its paralyzing touch (After resistance, Ug takes 6 cold damage and is not paralyzed - WHEW).

Then Larrel is forced to confront the other threats in the room. He turns and throws himself into a powerful spell of mass banishment, then claps his hands together in an impressive demonstration of abjuration. For a moment, there is silence as the other three monsters wink out of existence...

Then the archmage turns to cast a single fiery bolt at Ug's fleeing form. The spell hits Ug squarely, but instead of wreathing the goliath in biting flames, there is a flash of white light from Zenithral as the half-elf magically transfers the pain to himself (Zen takes 18 fire damage on Ug's behalf - WHEW).

Larrel lets out a scream of rage and moves to pursue the party, but an awful ripping sound emanates from behind him. "No... NO!" Incredibly, impossibly, the three strange creatures return from their planar jaunt, and once more the room is full of twisted, misshapen monsters (Whale, Larva, and Forgotten each expend a use of Legendary Resistance to avoid Larrel's Banishment spell).

The larva mage stamps the floor with its staff and releases a swarm of biting insects that cover the others, leaving gaping sores and infected wounds, though this tactic seems less effective against Larrel's undead form (Forgotten and whale take 35 necrotic damage, Larrel takes 17).

The floating mass of fat vomit opens its mouth wide and lets out a wave of bile that covers the whale (Whale takes 31 acid damage), then drops its bulk atop the larva mage, scattering its form into thousands of skittering bugs. Then the gross creature turns on Larrel. It speaks a single awful word, and the archmage grasps his head in agony (Larrel expends one use of Legendary Resistance to avoid Feeblemind).

Vincent reappears alongside the companions just as they reach the stairs. The last thing the party sees before going down is Larrel desperately beginning another spell.

"What?!" The librarian's face twists unnaturally into a cruel, manic grin. "One of my prized books! You will suffer. You will all suffer!" Shadows leap to surround the old elf, and he vanishes from sight. Judging by the laughter echoing about the library he is still about and readying to pounce.

Lightning quick, Erevain darts towards the librarian and slashes with his vibrating sword, hoping to bind it in place with magic, but the blade connects with nothing. In a flash Erevain is back with the group, running at full speed. "It was worth a try..."

The shadows melt away from the librarian, and Zenithral sees his Lethias standing there instead. The Bladesinger looks so much like his grandfather... "Nephew. It is so good for you to have come home. You belong here." He points at the books and shelves that Ug has toppled. "Would you please clean this mess up that your friends made?"

An ominous buzzing fills the air in the library, and then arcane portal opens up for just a moment. Its form wavers violently as though it might explode at any moment, and then Larrel steps through, head pivoting to look for the party. The portal slams shut just as he passes through it, and the resulting shockwave knocks the archmage into a table (Larrel takes 10 force damage).

With a fierce growl, he turns on the party and flings another bolt of fire at Ug (Ug takes 22 fire damage). "We are all going to die anyway! Why deny me the truth?!"

The librarian lets out a nasty hiss at Larrel's appearance.

Alalla skids to a halt as Zenithral stops running. "Zenithral, what are you doing? Someone grab him!"

Al growls as Larrel appears. She was counting on him not being able to leave his domain. She had forgotten that different rules applied to the lich-thing.

"No, you're going to die. I have things to do." Alalla drops Ras and her glaive (as gently as possible) and charges at the skeletal wizard. Her sword comes alight just before it bites deep into Larell's bones. Larrel takes 146 damage (41 is fire). If the punk lives he needs to make 3 strength saves or be knocked prone.)

With the wizard down, Al continues her flight. (Al will go as far with her movement as DM will allow.)
