A New Adventure: Phase 1

Oct 6, 2018 10:23 pm
The burning of Teldrassil has relocated you all. Whether you were helping with the war effort as a medic or minor support/cannon fodder, a night elf who lived there, or a Draenei that held concern for the land of which you too reside in Kalimdor, the genocidal burning of Teldrassil and the destruction and slaughter created intense panic, and some of you don't even know how you made it out alive.

It is a disturbing image impressed in your minds, the great tree burning and the night elves which perished underneath it, and the undead Forsaken that crawl that bank.

It seems now, it is just you all on the beach of Darkshore. Darkshore has already known its plights and was touched by the burn. It seems the inn there has been abandoned, and there is burnt down trees and the inn itself is scorched, some boards now ash. Some crabs are scuttling, but not much more has to be said - you can still see the now scorched land on the horizon, but things are strangely peaceful here. At least, the screams have ended. Now, you must survive. Finding supplies, friending those around you for protection, and figuring out what you will do from here on out.
OOC:
You all have your armor, full health, other equipment. However, you may only have 1 day worth of rations and have a circumstantial -2 to swimming, jump, climb, and escape artist until your next long rest, because breathing in smoke from the fire inhibits breathing fully without pain.

We will be starting the adventure once everyone has turned in their character sheets and they've been accepted.

The dard haired gnome sits on his knees on the beach of Darkshore. He stares at the burning remnants of Teldrassil, his thoughts unspoken. After a long moment, he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He whispers, only those very close to him could hear, "Makers ... Light ... Elune ... be with us." He stands, wiping his eyes and turning inland, trying to decide what to do next.

"Greetings traveler."

A massive (well to a gnome at least) tauren steps out of the treeline near the shore and slowly makes his way over to the beach as well. He blends in well with the trees, wearing a tattered robe of stitched together bark and twigs. Even his horns appear branchlike.

"My apologies, I hope I did not startle you. I am River of the Cenarion Circle."
OOC:
(edit) Heh, sorry. Just realized I couldn't have heard you.

At this point one of the piles of driftwood and garbage on the shore starts shaking.
— Ow! A bit muffled voice sounds from underneath it. What kind of sha bit me?

From the said pile emerges a female pandaren. Her outfit that looks like it was ceremonial at some point is now a bit torn and singed. Dark red fur is covered with dirt and ashes. There is a longbow on her back together with a round wooden shield adorned with a green paw symbol. Attached to her hip is a longsword.

Pandaren kicks a crab that apparently was the reason of her awakening and with a frown begun to rummage around in the pile that she was under previously. After a few moments she apparently finds what she was looking for - a backpack with a waterskin attached to it. Bot items have green leaf symbols on them.

Done with that, she starts to look around and notices gnome and the tauren nearby.
OOC:
Fron here on now I'll switch to first person
— Hello there. I wave at others. This humble one's name is Xiao Yu from the Silentmind family. It appears that we share a path... Or at least, I hope we do. The thing is - I'm quite new to this continent.

A draenei shaman walks through the ruins of Teldrassil, letting out a heavy sigh.
So much destruction..

He said softly. Noticing the sounds of people talking, he then trudged over, shifting the weight of the greathammer on his shoulder slightly.

You are all now looking at each other, perhaps unsure where your journey will lead you now. It is quiet, and around you, there is the Auberdine inn, and a lot of the flora and foliage has been burnt and destroyed. No other bodies - dead or alive - can be seen on the shore and near the inn.

What do you all decide to do now?
OOC:
You can free-form post as you'd like! I don't mind if you guys get in the groove to post multiple times a day, btw, the 1/day is a minimum. I've also considered if people are into it enough to look at a discord channel. But for now, let's see how this goes!

Oh, and: "Spot" checks are perception checks (for those more familiar with that system), and "Search" checks would be investigation checks.

The old tauren glances around nerviously. "Oh, my. Indeed. I hadn't realized... Ahhh, but of course the fates would bring us together to witness this.. this... abomination." A great owl glides silently out from the woods and perches on one of the druid's horns and scowls at the others.

River, you notice as you look around, there is a well. It has Darnassian architecture, with the large clear pool being surrounded by white, smooth stone, and rocks surrounding it. It seems to be one of the main sources for water around here since the sea water would not make good for this without a purifying spell. There are also some tracks in the sand and the dirt that meets the sand, of boots and paw prints. You also see a sack outside the slope that leads to the main platform of the inn. Like traditional Kaldorei fashion, their inns are a lot more open, having wooden pillars instead of actual walls.

It is near dusk, yet there are no sounds of bugs or wildlife, besides the crabs. Usually, Kaldorei's fauna and bug life are vibrant and it is never this unsettlingly quiet.

To help with visualization: In front of you there is where the beach meets the dirt, and then a wooden slope that leads to the inn. On the left there is more forest and deeper into the lands, on the right the same, except you can see a small pier for fishing that connects to the shore.

Initially startled by the sight of the Tauren, the gnome visibly relaxes at the mention on the Cenarion Circle. "Oh, I see. Yes, well then I don't suppose you would ever be a part of that-" he gestures behind him, indicating the burned World Tree. "Very good to meet you, River. I am Kleemock Fastcog, newly appointed prospector of the Explorer's League of Ironforge. You may call me Klee." He ends his introduction with a respectful bow and a sad smile.

Upon the Pandaren's arrival, Klee waves back and introduces himself once more. "Greetings! A sorry sight to see, this your first visit to these lands. I'm Kleemock Fastcog - Klee for short - Prospector of the Explorer's League of Ironforge." He bows his head to the Pandaren.

Greetings to all.
Caelaen says as he walks over, his posture showing that he was not here to fight.
Is everyone here ok? He asked, ready to heal any injuries if he needed to.

— Well, I saw how it looked before... I approach everyone, while trying to remove some dirt and sand from outside and even inside of my outfit. I was a part of delegation sent to your lands. Well, more like a tag-along. My clan leader thought that it was time for me to see the outside world. I wonder what his reaction would be to this?
I find a relatively clean and dry spot to sit and begin inspecting my equipment, cleaning it, if necessery.

Caelaen then extended his hand to the Pandaren.
My name is Caelaen. May I know yours?
He smiled politely.
This destruction... the elements must be devastated...
He then sighed.

— Oh? Hello there, friend. Name is Xiao Yu from the Silentmind family. I shift my attention from cleaning sand from the sword sheath to the new person and shake his hand.

Steps back as everyone around him begin to introduce themselves. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath of the ash tinged air. The owl perched on his horn hoots softly. "Yes, I agree. It's quiet isn't it? Very well, feel free to take a look around, but don't fly off too far."

The bird hoots and begins flying overhead, in a wide circle around the group as if hunting. River then takes a moment to inspect the tracks in the sand at his feet, saying out loud, though mostly to himself. "Hmmm, wolf prints perhaps? Deep though... perhaps ridden upon."

Search (animal companion) - (1d20)

OOC:
FYI, "Search" is usually used to closely inspect something in details. Eg. to search room for hidden areas, traps on the floor, bookshelves for specific books, etc.
To "look around" you would use "Spot".
Oct 11, 2018 4:15 pm
River, you can make a survival check to see if you can identify the tracks.

I'm going to go ahead and take your search check as a spot check!

River's animal companion can see no life moving around as it circles around, and while the obvious fire damage, not much else is noticeable to the owl.

If everyone could, make a spot check.

Or not. Yu is busy cleaning her stuff to notice anything :D

The tracks River inspected were probably ones he had encountered before, living in Moonglade - nightsaber tracks. They were large, but some smaller ones too, seeming to be either young sabers or the smaller variety of wild nightsabers versus the ones bred for domestication as a mount. As for the other footprints, one could only assume it was from the night elves who were fleeing. The tracks seem to be going inward to the land, and away from the inn.
