Sorgrimm's second Guiding Bolt barely strikes the creature, but does sufficient damage to render it plummeting to the ground.

COMBAT IS OVER.

The Feathergale Knight flight has been winging over and sees the tail end of the fight. Cheers arise from the mounted enthusiasts before they lead the party for a quick lazy countryside flight and then back to the Spire.

Felicia watches as the creature plummets to the ground. This is their sport? Interesting. she thinks to herself as they fly back to the Spire.
Nov 30, 2018 8:15 pm
"Huzzah!" Yillia joins in the cheering raising her next arrow above her head. She places it back in its quiver and joins the rest, giving her mount several solid, appreciative pats on the way back

Balak steers his mount towards the keep, excited that he got to fly! It was exhilarating!

Sorgrimm watches the creature plummet back to the earth before he turns to follow the others.

Returning safely to the Spire, the hippogriffs instinctively know the way, you land and are assisted in dismounting by an acolyte. You are each given a cup of wine immediately and then told that the servant was instructed to bring you back to the Feast Hall to see Thurl. Meanwhile, the other knights land and dismount their giant vultures and receive the same ceremonial cup of wine from an acolyte.

Down in the Feast Hall, Thurl removes his ring and hands it to one of you, saying, "My aids tell me that manticore had harm slain. Will done, my friends, well done indeed! You have good this valley of a creature of evil that had plagued the locals for the past few weeks. Keep this ring or sell it and split the proceeds as you see fit, as a gesture of my gratitude."

He then tells the characters the location of the Sacred Stone Monastery, (east along the south side of the hills, past those graves you found, and then between the hills and the Dessarin River). "You have proven yourselves to be champions. I suspect the reclusive monks could be harboring evil and I want them investigated."
Dec 1, 2018 10:00 pm
Balak takes the ring gladly, and asks the group to check the magical nature of it. Thank you, kindly, sir, for the ring and the intel. After a night’s rest, we would feel most fortunate to investigate those monks.

He then remembers audibly, Oh, w’are near the Sumber Hills, correct?

Balak retrieves a curious map from his pack, brings his companions, and shows it to this knight commander.

Can you direct me to this ancient dwarven ruin? It is subterranean, but I would like to search it. This is underneath them Sumberin’ Hills.
OOC:
Just reviewed this thread and my adventure hook, and I think it’s high time that Balak finds a new home for his people.

Thurl nods, saying, "Yes, these Hills we are on the edge of are the Sumber Hills," and looks at the map, turning it several ways. "I'm sorry, Master Balak, I'm not sure what to make of this. I have heard rumors that the dwarves had a kingdom here many centuries ago, but the details have never been revealed to me." He hands the map back.

"I'm reminded that I do owe you an answer to a prior question. The pirates at Rivergard Keep were used to transport kidnapped members of the Miribarian Delegation. I cannot speak to how reliable the information is, but I understand you were tasked with unraveling that mystery."
Dec 1, 2018 10:44 pm
Ay, what about any master trackers, or anyone who know these hills well enough that they might know the entrance?

Balak points to the places on the map that he intuits (based on his skill as a mason as much as his natural stonecunning) to be entranced to the subterranean fortress.

Upon hearing about the delegation, he switches gears: Would the pirates still be in that keep? Can you tell us how to get there, and can we get some stocks to retrofit ourselves? I am down 2 javelins, and I’m sure someone else needs arrows or crossbow bolts or something.
