Xelia notices some rot near the hinges and pulls at that end instead of the sturdy iron handle. That whole side of the door rips right off of the metal hinges, leaving them swaying in the wind. A rickety wooden ladder leads into the upper level of the warehouse, a crate-filled mezzanine and sees the following:
[ +- ] Warehouse: Second Level
On the first floor, Butler and Stitches let arrows loose, stopping the closest Kenku dead in her tracks, and wounding another. The remaining three push toward the foyer you are in, the two with the bows covering (with readied actions) the first with the blade, who advances cautiously (dodge action).

From around the corner, you can hear someone unlocking the bay door and sliding it open.
OOC:
Xelia, you still have some movement left if you want to position yourself a bit better, and a bonus action if you have anything that uses it.

Next up is Alastriona, Prince, and Vatra!
Jan 15, 2019 6:24 am
Prince clambers down after Xelia. Seeing the situation below, he drops a spell on the kinky kenku before taking cover behind some crates.
OOC:
Casting Bane on those kenku nearest my friends.

OOC:
Saving throws in progress... done!
Prince strums on the strings of the Kenku's fates, pulling their fortunes askew. After Prince lands the spell the Kenku archers spot him and fire off their knocked arrows, but their cursed aim goes awry and their arrows thud into the ceiling instead.
OOC:
Alastriona and Vatra are next, then back to Stitches. The archers have used up their readied actions and everyone in that cluster is Baned (-1d4 to attack rolls and saving throws). The sword wielder at the front of that group has taken dodge action, so attacks against him are at disadvantage. If you want to go through him to get to melee an archer, you'll take an attack of opportunity.

Alastriona turns away from her interrupted inspection as the kenku advance. She steps forward to protect Vatra, and sweeps her war scythe across her feathered assailants. As she advances, she hums a low minor key, lips parting to sound a wordless dirge of lament.
OOC:
Movement up until I get the nearest kenku into 10-foot reach, then attack.

Stitches, feel free to take your turn. Will update in a bit.
Jan 17, 2019 3:57 pm
With no enemies nearby, Stitches grumpily sheathes his rapier and pulls out his bow again. Unable to get a clean shot at the kenku in melee, he pops up behind a crate, takes a potshot at one of the archers, and ducks back down out of sight.

Round 1 & 2

The party gets the drop on the shifty Kenku. Butler and Stitches get clean shots off, killing the closest and wounding the next.

The Kenku advance cautiously but are taken unawares from the balcony when Prince messes with their mojo, spooking the archers into taking undisciplined shots. A smaller group makes for the outside, trying to box in the party.

Alastriona emerges from the shadows and takes full advantage of the lead Kenku's distraction, striking him down with her war scythe.

Round 3

One of the archers manages to dodge Vatra's fire bolt, but runs straight into Stitches' arrow.

The wounded archer cries out in mimicry: "Do not interfere with the Xanthar's justice!" You'd recognize that deep yet melodic voice anywhere: Krentz, the lead singers of the Beauties from Battle of the Bards. He fires a shot at Alastriona that goes wide and then bolts for cover behind the crates in the center of the warehouse. His partner's arrow manages to find the mark, however, who then follows behind the crates. (Alastriona takes 6 piercing damage)

The two flanking Kenku then burst through the front door. They clamour up on top of the crates and rain arrows down at Butler and Stitches from behind. One arrow narrowly misses Stitches, thudding into a crate right beside his head, but the other takes Butler in the side, knocking the wind out of him (Butler takes 9 piercing damage).

(in progress... Done!

The two archers in the center are ducking behind crates in the center of the warehouse and can't be targeted by ranged attacks on the first floor. However, anyone can get in range for melee attacks. Xelia and Prince can target them from the balcony, but they will have +2 AC for partial cover. They are under the influence of Prince's Bane spell, and one is wounded.

The two other Kenku on the tops of the crates near the entrance cannot be targeted from the second floor, but anyone else can use range or melee attacks against them. They are fresh.

OOC:
Up next: Alastriona, Butler, Prince, Vatra, and Xelia in any order. Don't worry too much about precise grid locations and such, the map is just a rough guide. For some general rules for ranges and such, see the blue text and the end of the last post :)

Upon the arrival of additional kenku, Alastriona turns and drops her war scythe. Knowing that Vatra is exposed, she slips her arm into her shield and charges the stack of crates, launching herself into the structure to try and bring the whole thing down.

OOC:
@Jabes, @CancerMan: Yes, he can use the bardic inspiration if he chooses. We're not even bending the rules here since he hasn't seen the outcome of the roll. The whole turn order thing is the only rule we're bending but doesn't worry me at all given the asynchronous way we're trying to play this game.

Also, Bardic Inspiration uses a Bonus Action, so you can still take your regular action!

The Kenku try to keep their balance as Alastriona shield-bashes into the stack of crates. One tumbles backwards and lands prone, while the other proudly stands her ground, only to be run through by Stitches' opportunistic rapier. She calls out in a gruff dwarven accent "Ah, krunk!" but doesn't fall. Then Vatra and Butler open fire, and Vatra's fire bolt hits her in the chest. She tumbles from the stack of crates, dead.

Rolls

Kenku acrobatics - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (5) + 3 = 8

OOC:
Xelia's turn. There is one Kenku by the main entrance that Alastriona knocked prone with Prince's help, and two in the main warehouse hiding behind crates suffering from Prince's curse. You'd have to move down the stairs to get in range to hit the prone one at the entrance, but you can see the cursed ones from the balcony.
