Feylinde is an Half-elf, spellcaster is correct and alchemist. She's 18.

I'm normally more decisive so fixed points it is.

First time I'm leveling up a 5th edition character. Do I need to do anything else than increase hit points and take the abilities shown in the character class table? Does anything happen to the skills, for example?

No, nothing else. Skills only improve with proficiency and that doesn't happen every level.
