The night grows chill as you all retire to your various quarters. The occasional thumping of those who seek a much later, or earlier depending on your perspective, bedtime makes for a rather fitful sleep, but for the most part the alcohol combined with the warmth and softness of the bed and bedding provide a bit of a respite from the cacophony below.

Hraefn is the first to arise, the sounds of the stable hands along with the nearby woodland animals infiltrating your dreams and slowly dragging you back to this world. The rest of you, likewise, one by one, awake to the sounds of a town awakening and the smells of the kitchen below wafting up through the floorboards.

The sky is still mostly dark, but the first streaks of purple and orange have cracked the eastern sky, and the absence of any significant cloud cover promises a precipitation-free day, at least to start. The chill is deeper though, as the early spring day tries to fight off the lingering winter, but it invigorates even those who might otherwise be sluggish after a late night of drink.

Down below, the dining area (Area E on the map) is beginning to fill, but there is still, yet, plenty of seating for those who wish to indulge in a breakfast.

Bram
A young man of perhaps 20 approaches you as you leave your room. He is dressed in common attire, with a small bow tie that has a pair of long tails, and his hair is pulled back into a proper tail. "Good morning, sir." he says politely, holding out his hand. In it, there is a single, gold coin.

"You paid for another's room last night, and I have been told that no one else arrived to claim it. Therefore, I am returning your extra coin."

Actions, good fellows and ladies?

As a side note, should you not have seen the game posting in detail, I am hoping for daily posts. While I understand that not everyone is required to post for certain things (combat, PC interactions, etc), I would like everyone to try and make an effort to at least read the posts daily and interject where necessary. Some did not post in the last thread when I asked, and I won't keep the game waiting. That said, I am usually slower on the weekends because I am not sitting at my computer all day at home; but I will still make a best effort to post then, as well, if need be.

Regardless, Game On! Let the PC interactions continue with this next leg of the journey to Fort Nurok.

Waking and dressing, feeling thoroughly refreshed and prepared for the trek ahead, Ilwyn departs from her room after making sure her equipment is either prepared or packed and ready for travel. She heads to the dining room, where she looks around for her fellows and, seeing none of them here yet, takes a seat at an empty table to await their arrival and get some breakfast.

Cædwyn's surprisingly bright eyed and chipper for the amount of drinking he did the previous night. (Amazing Constitution) He takes a seat at the breakfast table across from Ilwyn. "Good morning Lady Ilwyn, you're looking well and refreshed this fine day." He then proceeds to order breakfast. It sounds like he's ordering food for two, but Ilwyn realizes that it's all just intended for him, along with a pint of good morning ale.

I sit alone at a table and flag down a bar wench.

"The same to you, Lord Eigendrast. I trust you slept well?" Ilwyn waves to the man as he sits. "All prepared for the journey ahead? Could be quite an arduous one."

Etna struggles out of bed as morning light filters through the shutter. On the one hand, she might have felt refreshed — she had never slept in a bed so luxuriously soft and comfortable. On the other, it was almost too comfortable, and the mental battle she fights to extricate herself from the sheets isn't helped by the burgeoning hangover. Throwing her breastplate and jerkin haphazardly on, she follows the scent of breakfast fare down to the tables below. Her companions aren't difficult to spot amid the crowd. She sinks into her seat with a stretch and a yawn before resting her elbows on the table and availing of some of the food.

Bram dresses slowly as he studies his spells. He eventually wanders downstairs, book in hand, and paying little attention to anything beyond his book. He takes a random seat and fishes some silver coins form his pouch and sets it near the edge of the table expecting the standard breakfast to be delivered.

Are we all at the same Inn or did some of the party stay at the first place we went?

Hraefn was mindful not to surprise the stable hands with his appearance amongst the horses and wagons, and made as if he was attending to them as well in the early hours of the morning. He was equally conscientious to make his way back to the Minstrel, where he expected the others would gather, and fronted the gold for more than his share of breakfast.

"Good morning all." The quiet man acknowledged his companions, and fished from his person a small parcel of fruit. "I've taken the liberty of preparing some berries for our journey. When consumed they stave off hunger, and have a minor healing effect. They'll last till the end of the day. I shall be able to supply these daily, magic permitting, " and proceeded to distribute them.
OOC:
20 goodberries in total. Help yourselves.

Cædwyn eats rather rapidly, eating a breakfast sausage in two bites and washing it down with a bit of ale. "Ha! I'll be glad to be off myself. Spend too long in such comforts as we are accustomed and one risks growing soft. Wouldn't you agree miss Redbriar?", grinning to the girl as she joins them for breakfast. He nods to Bram as well, still not quite sure what to make of that one.

Merriweather
You aren't seated long before a barmaid approaches you. "Great morning, sir." she smiles brightly, her hair pulled back into a short tail, her ears revealing a hint of elf in her. "My name is Erlinia, and I'll do my best to make the start of your morning as pleasant as possible. Shall I get you a drink of some sort? Coffee? Tea? Juice or water? Of course, there is ale, if that is your want." she asks.
Dec 20, 2018 1:06 am
Tea and bacon please. All on that man’s tab. I say, pointing to Caedwyn.
Dec 20, 2018 4:41 am
Cædwyn looks sharply at Merriweather suddenly very angry, "My Tab? My Tab! You may be used to taking other people's belongings but don't you dare spend my coin without leave of me!" He bangs his fist on the table to emphasize his point.
Dec 20, 2018 4:53 am
"More than enough here for all of us." Hraefn had already laid out more coin than necessary to cover breakfast for everyone, without making eye contact with either Caedwyn nor Merri.

Ilwyn watches the minor drama, expectant of a fight to break out at any given moment. However, seeing Cædwyn react so fervently, and Hraefn in equal measure calmly, a smirk crosses the knight's face and with a snort she breaks into a bout of laughter.

"Thank you, Hraefn." She smiles at the druid with a nod. "As for you two, I'm sure Lord Eigendrast would have obliged if you'd asked first, Merriweather. That said, while I disagree with your... Liberal use of others' belongings, that was credit to your ingenuity. Just, perhaps save such tricks for whatever trouble we happen on during our travels."
Dec 20, 2018 2:20 pm
You know, old chap, a simple "no" would have sufficed. No need to get so upset. I clap him on the back.
Dec 20, 2018 3:29 pm
Cædwyn chuckles, the rage leaving his face as quickly as it had bloomed. He continues on as if there was nothing odd at all about his demeanor. He nods to Merriweather, "Aye, just so we understand each other. But yes, thank you Hraefn, that's quite generous of you." He picks one of the goodberries up off of the table, and holds it between his thumb and forefinger. "Hmm, I wonder if anyone's ever tried making wine from these? Still good to have on a long day's travel. Thank you again Hraefn."
OOC:
He really only has two modes of being, cheerful self-aggrandizement and uncontrollable murderous rage.

A rare smile played across Hraefn's face at the thought of making alcohol from the goodberries. "Then it would be a fortified wine, like a sherry for Merri." And with that, all tension dissipated as a result of Hraefn's terrible sense of humour.

Tea for me, actually. I’m not a big drinker. I prefer to keep my wits about me. But I will enjoy a pile of bacon if you don’t mind.

The servants work quickly to bring your desired breakfast. Juices, ale, water and other refreshments accompany large slabs of cooked pork, biscuits, gravy thick with spiced sausage, fruits, nuts and succulent melons. As you begin to feast, your guide, Elavain arrives.

"Good morning, my lords and ladies. 'Tis appearing that this day will be as fair as the last, though as we move westward I expect a bit more of a biting wind to dampen the warmth of the sun. If we leave soon and press hard, we can make Grasmere just past nightfall. It is a small town, nothing much more than a farming weigh station, but Agrobar has the finest kept secret of a brewery as ever I have known, so cold or not, warmth awaits us there."

Elavain grabs a large biscuit, dabs it fully into the gravy and quickly pushes it into his mouth, the thick, white sauce dripping on the table and down his chin. Scooping the fallout into his mouth, he follows it up with a quick pair of gulps of hot coffee, before wiping his sleeve across his face.

"Another day or so to Hartland before the long trek to Tycha. Barring unforeseen troubles, we should reach Nurok in a week." he adds before bidding you all good morning and turning to depart.
