OOC:
For this game, especially as we just started, I’m allowing you to make Death Saves, rather than outright dying.
Jan 15, 2019 1:15 am
Cædwyn, seeing Merri fall immediately flies into a rage. He moves to AL:16 in order to flank the creature and begins hacking away violently with his two handed sword. He loudly starts screams obscenities as well, trying to attract it's attention.

Rolls

Greatsword 1 - (1d20+7)

(5) + 7 = 12

Greatsword 1 (Adv) - (1d20+7)

(2) + 7 = 9

Greatsword 2 - (1d20+7)

(16) + 7 = 23

Greatsword 2 (Adv) - (1d20+7)

(19) + 7 = 26

Jan 15, 2019 1:18 am
The damage is all weapon damage with me, I'm guessing attack 1 missed, but including it anyway.

Rolls

Greatsword 1 Damage - (2d6+6)

(14) + 6 = 11

Greatsword 2 Damage - (2d6+6)

(13) + 6 = 10

OOC:
Well then, death save it is.

Rolls

Death save - (1d20)

(7) = 7

Jan 15, 2019 4:21 am
Caedwyn
Roll an intimidation check, DC13

Merriweather
1 failed death save
Jan 15, 2019 5:12 am
OOC:
Merri, maybe Ket will let you roll up another character, maybe someone we can save from the swamp. Of course it would have to be someone we would want to save from the swamp. lol
Jan 15, 2019 5:16 am
Hraefn watched the brutality of the troll's attacks when focussed on one target. He considered whether there was an opening to save Merriweather's body, but the opportunity seemed slim at the moment, given that the troll stood back up after the Bram's blast. The next best course of action was to provide more distractions for the beast. Still maintaining his distance, the druid summoned help from nature to attack the monstrous troll.
OOC:
Casting Conjure Animals for 8 CR1/4 beasts to surround the troll on every side and attack. DM, do I get to choose? If so, it's 8 wolves. Including 1 initiative roll for them first (I'm guessing you don't want 8 rolls). If you confirm it's wolves I'll roll for their attacks and damage.
Also, reserving my bonus action declaration for Wildshape for later.
OOC:
Hehe now that I see the crappy roll I'm open to rolling initiative for them separately, and you can still group them according to which ones act first and which act after the troll. Your call :D

Rolls

Wolves' Initiative - (1d20+2)

(6) + 2 = 8

Jan 15, 2019 1:53 pm
OOC:
For conjured creatures, I am treating them as one for the purpose of initiative. Also, while you can definitely surround the troll, it is at the waterline, so some might be in the water. Tell me what squares they are each on, and I will add them to the updated map.
Jan 15, 2019 3:02 pm
With Caedwyn and Ilwyn on either side of the troll, Hraefn directed 7 of his wolves to surround the monster. The eighth he directed to head for the fallen body of Merriweather, with instructions to slowly drag the body away from the troll and towards Hraefn.
OOC:
Ok, 7 wolves at AM15 AN15 AO15 AP16 AL18 AM18 AN18, the 8th at Merriweather's body, AM14. Unless you rule that the bush is too thick for a wolf. None of them in the water squares. Posting the rolls in two sets, 1st to 3rd, and 4th to 7th because there's no space to actually generate all 7 numbers in a row heh. Wolves' Bite attack has DC11 Str save against being knocked prone.
Declaring if the troll closes in on Hraefn this turn, Hraefn will wildshape into a giant constrictor snake as a bonus action. If not, then he'll remain in human form in the same position.

Oh dear, Suppose I should have put some points into this...

Rolls

Intimidation Check - (1d20)

(6) = 6

Jan 15, 2019 4:30 pm
OOC:
A 15 foot tall creature righting itself from a prone position as a bonus action? I would rethink that. It should take at least a round for it to do that.
Jan 15, 2019 5:06 pm
OOC:
1. A lot of what I do is for the flavor of the game. Lightning did not, in fact, knock the troll prone, but the description might have made it sound that way. 2. If I elect to adjust a creatures abilities, as the DM I reserve that right. Like a water-breathing dire troll with 50 move instead of 40.... 3. My world, my rules. Those who game with me know I am notoriously pro-player, but enjoy posing a good challenge to them. 4. Thanks for keeping me honest. I am, by no means, a rules expert. 😳
Jan 15, 2019 9:12 pm
OOC:
Based on the troll getting blasted backward, I am adjusting everyone's position to the logical spot where they would have gone had the troll moved a few steps backward. This includes the wolves and Caedwyn
Etna grimaces at the sight of Merriweather being shorn like a sheep then tossed lifeless to the river bank. With a flourish she once again looses a pair of arrows, the first sinking deep into the belly of the monster, drawing a howl of pain from it. The second, however, flies wide of the mark as the sudden appearance of a pack of wolves interrupts her concentration. Fortunately, the creatures focus their attacks on the troll, as the thing looks confused by their appearance.
OOC:
8 wolves, CR 1/4, AC 13, HP 11
From above, Caedwyn sweeps at the faltering troll, the first going wide as he misjudges the moving monster, but the second landing deep into the upper back of the thing. With a howl, the monster once raises itself high. It's eyes are red with rage and it emits an unholy howl that echos throughout the valley and causes eardrums to pop. It begins to whirl in place, its arms going rigid as it begins its horrid Whirwind of Claws attack.
OOC:
I need Caedwyn and the 7 wolves around the troll to make a Dexterity saving throw, DC 19. Luckily, Ilwyn is now just out of range as the troll stepped backward.

A failed save takes 48 HP of damage, a success takes 24

Rolls

Troll Whirlwind of Claws Damage - (8d10)

(943103469) = 48

Jan 15, 2019 9:35 pm
It's probably not going to help, but:

Danger Sense
You have advantage on Dexterity Saving Throws against effects that you can see

Rolls

Dex Save - (1d20+2)

(15) + 2 = 17

Dex Save (adv) - (1d20+2)

(9) + 2 = 11

Jan 15, 2019 9:51 pm
Caedwyn
As the troll begins to whirl, its dagger-like claws rending the flesh off of the surrounding wolves, you try to get up and out of the way of the viscious attack but are too slow to react. The shock of the sheer ferocity of the rending claws is more than you have ever faced before, and before you know it the troll has ripped your blade from your hand and rends your body mid-flight. With a screeching snarl, it pitches you to the water below, where you hit the bottom with a thud. The water rushes into your open mouth, and you taste the scum and disease-laden water nearly entering your lungs, but at the last microsecond you catch your breath and stumble backward.
OOC:
The water where you hit is about 5 feet deep, so you manage to get your head out of the water. You suffer 48 HP of damage, leaving you stunned. DC 10 CON save when your turn comes to shake it off. You are now in AJ:15
Without stopping, the troll continues the rending attack until nothing is left of the wolves surrounding him. With tiny puffs of magical energy, the fey conjurations pop out of existence. Thew last wolf, however, manages to drag the body of Merriweather 5 feet, to AM:14.
OOC:
Well THAT was cool... in a macabre sort of way. :D Ilwyn and Bram are up.

OOC:
Oh right, when I'm raging I should have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. So 24 then?

Good catch. I saw you mention flying into a rage, but didn't think that you were 'Raging'. :) Correct then, 24 damage.

Jan 15, 2019 10:14 pm
OOC:
Aye, that's what I meant, sorry if that wasn't clear. Also, am I disarmed? What will it take to retrieve my weapon?

OOC:
Yes, your sword landed in the water. Assuming that you make your CON save vs stunned, you can retrieve it as a bonus action. It is lying near you, so you can retrieve it and attack.
Jan 15, 2019 10:57 pm
OOC:
Jesus, there goes our cannon fodder.
Ilwyn grimaces as she sees Caedwyn launched backwards, worried for a moment that he has also been felled. Seeing him stand, she breaths a short sigh of relief, only to bare her teeth and turn her attention back to the foe at hand. Roaring, she charges forward and lashes out at the troll twice more, her weapon once again igniting with divine fury.
OOC:
Closing and will use Divine Smite again on any hit, 2 2nd Level Slots.

Ooooor not. This is gonna end fantastically.
