How are we doing hp and starting gold?0
Dec 28, 2018 4:47 am
So unless I am mistaken, we are rolling for wealth based on your class, you can find it on pg 143 of the player's handbook. The starting hit points can be found under the the class feature section in the player's handbook as well. So for example, since I am a rouge I am 8 + Con Mod (which for me is -1), so my starting HP is 7. For my gold, I am rolling 4d4 x 10GP.

Rolls

Gold - (4d4)

(1234) = 10

Warlock character submitted for approval.

As is the Rogue but I will need a hand with the Expertise part of the Rogue class, I am unsure the way proficiency works with the thieves tools.

I've 'approved' Whistler and Jovian83's PCs, but I haven't reviewed them yet. Today is a travel day for me, but I'll go over any submitted characters this weekend.

As to Expertise and Thieves Tools, Expertise doubles the Proficiency bonus. At level 1 your Proficiency Bonus is +2. The description for Thieves Tools on page 154 says "Proficiency with these tools lets you add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make to disarm traps or open locks." On page 177, it clarifies that picking locks and disarming traits are Dexterity ability checks. All told, if you select Thieves Tools as one of your two Expertise, your character's bonus to picking locks or disarming traps would be +4 +(Dexterity bonus).

Awesome thats what I thought I will take expertise in my thieves tools and stealth then. Is there a way I can alter my proficiency bonus for those two skills on my sheet or should I just make a note of it?

Also there are a couple of things I would like to discuss with the group. First whats everyone playing? I know we have a warlock but what else? Second, I just wanted to reassure everyone that as the rogue anything I find while roguing will be delivered back to the party so it can be shared evenly and you wont have to worry about Atrix's kleptomania. In game he'll come to see you as his warren but the real reason is out of character, I take the golden rule seriously.

you would want to just edit the skill's name to reflect the change i.e. {x} Stealth +6 {expertise} and don't mind the other number the site spits out or just put it on the bottom of your sheet, truthfully its up to you to remember your stats when you make the rolls
I use G'sheets for all my GP characters, I've got a good template going and i keep tweeaking it every time making it almost automated.
Like this: Hasan "Slice"'s Sheet and this will be getting updated too as the time goes by with better features :D it works well cause i have all my GP characters on 1 workbook so i can edit the games in a "fluid" motion.

I'm cool with that the easiest way is group share so yea im cool with that.

As for what i'm playing is a human (v.) fighter who uses the crossbow way more then he should. As part of the City watch I feel it is Hasan's job to investigate whats going on and keep the party on the rght side of the law? (i'm totally not lawful) but deffinatly listens to his supers very well!.

Well I will say that excel sheet is awesome and thanks for the help. I have updated my character sheet with a few more odds and ends. I have a weapons now that will do slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage just in case. I have caltrops and ball bearings to throw down in case I need to beat a hasty exit when roguing. I have a backpack to easily carry around my various kits as well as a few empty vials and a heap of empty sacks so that I can carry whatever goodies I might come across while rouging.

Can I also just confirm, since my character is primarily ranged (he can get up close but with 7HP, I'd prefer not to), what rules are we using regarding shooting a bow into melee? I don't want to be that guy that accidentally hits a party member when aiming for the goblin :P

RAW (rules as written) Ranged attackes in melee suffer disadvantage (lesser of 2 rolls)

Sneak attack works with Light & ranged iirc, so you'll still get your sneak on. shooting into melee, is not a RAW deturant (unless DM says otherwise) That being said RAW has no "crit fails" (once again up to the DM)

Also thanks for the kind words on the Spreadsheet i've sunk probably the better part of a working week into it and its still not prim and proper yet.

I always have a great appreciation for a good excel spreadsheet. Also so long as the party has someone that doesnt mind getting up close, my character should be able to combo pack tactics, flanking and stealthing to ensure I end up with advantage on a bow shot even into melee, to ensure I get the additional sneak damage. Thats assuming I'm reading the rules correctly.

My character is mechanically complete, I just need to finish the backstory.

I think the roster is currently:

Rogue (Jovian)
Warlock (Whistler)
Fighter (Cave)
Monk (Me)
Barbarian (Pious)
and not sure on Campeador.

So plenty of front-lining for sneak attack.

oh yea as a rogue its way more simple to get sneak now,
To get sneak you need: Adv on attk roll. (i.e. Hidden/stealth) OR be enemy to be engaged with a friendly regardless if they know youre there.

As for Flanking that is one of thoes fun rules thats up to the DM but them focused fire should do well, I understand we have at least 1 martial class (monk

Even better when you get to 2nd lvl, and you can hide as a bonus! gives you an additional attempt to get that sneak off.

I think you may have gotten me and Jovian back the front since I am the Rogue but thanks for the update, that's really helpful. The fact we have a Fighter, Monk and a Barbarian means that the part should have plenty of upfront distracting muscle, so I can come up from behind and do what I do well. Also thanks for the info CJ, I am really keen on making sure I understand how the rogue functions and how I can make sure that I do my best to benefit the party. With the way Altrix is shaping up, I'm not too worried about stealth particularly after second level, since he is shaping up to be a dead set ghost.
