OOC:
Fernal and Korgazhar both speak giant.

Julian
OOC:
That makes reasonable sense, though I would want an intelligence check to do so.

"Good. So either you and/or Alain must make it to the tower to charm the guard. The three of us will take care of the guard or guards on the ground at the entrance."
Mar 5, 2019 2:15 pm
"Don't worry Julian, enchantment is my specialty, and I do speak Giant. I will take care of the guard." Alain waits to Ælfric to cast his spell before getting on his own mount.

Fernal listens as the plans form up. She finally says something, I teach you giant. I know well.

"Once inside, should we head for the meeting room where we last saw the triumvirate together? The Drow may prefer to stay in the darkness and slavery of the caves when not needed," Ælfric added after acknowledging that he, too, knew the language of Giants.

Gathering up your gear, you mount your steeds. The sun has set to the west, and long shadows stretch across the valley as the last of the light fades away. Giving the land a chance to transition into night, you finally give the signal and your steeds lift you all into the air. The sky is overcast, blocking the light of the moons above, a boon for sure given the bane of the last two days.

Flying low, the magic of stealth encompasses the group and you fly swiftly and surely to the steading. You see no sign of patrolling giants, though you are sure they must be there, giving you an uneasy feeling that this trip is going far too well. Finally, you land about 100 feet from the southern end of the giant fortress. From all indications, you are undetected.
OOC:
Stealth checks across the board, please. You get a +10 due to Aelfric's Pass Without Trace
Mar 6, 2019 2:31 am
Stealth check is (29).. seems I didn't get the dice loader right.
OOC:
Fernal rode with someone else or someone created a mount for her unless you made her able to fly. Fernal doesn't own a mount. And she left her barrel in the cave for later perhaps.

Rolls

Stealth Check with +10 bonus - (1d20)

(10) = 10

Mar 6, 2019 2:42 am
OOC:
As a note, if you put a space in the dice, the parser fails. Thus, 1d20+3 is correct, while 1d20 + 3 misfires.

Before leaving, Ælfric made sure the others knew his cloaking would only last for one hour and they must stay close to him.

Ælfric enjoyed riding Garuda, his griffon, and almost forgot the danger they were already in. He formed an arcane armour around himself and extended it to his mount, and after securing Garuda, left him with the mental instruction to remain alert.
OOC:
Casting and concentrating on Pass Without Trace on everyone. Stay within 30 feet of Ælfric for +10 to stealth rolls.
Casting Mage Armor on Ælfric and his mount.

Rolls

Stealth + 10 - (1d20+23)

(7) + 23 = 30

Korgazhar didn't mind that when it was decided that they should all get flying mounts, he received a peryton as his steed. It was an irritable, fussy creature given to bouts of aggression, not unlike its rider, but his retainers did a good job of appeasing its temperament, such that it obediently ferried the half-orc swiftly and purposefully to the steading. Korgazhar was never one for stealth, and knew his movement presented especial challenges in attempting to sneak about. His approach was going to be as direct as possible: see giant, kill giant.

Rolls

Stealth - (1d20+12)

(9) + 12 = 21

Stealth (with disadv) - (1d20+12)

(15) + 12 = 27

Find Greater Steed says 'While mounted on it, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target the mount.'
OOC:
Bah. Yeah, I had forgotten that you all got your steeds through the use of the ring. I stand corrected.
Mar 6, 2019 3:34 pm
OOC:
Lol, I forgot that too. I should have picked a self targetting spell.

Rolls

Stealth - (1d20+16)

(15) + 16 = 31

Following Ælfrick's example, Julian enshrouded himself and his pegasus Ligeia in a field of magical protection before following the others into the air.
OOC:
I described Julian as resting after casting the wards. Seeing as that was first thing at dawn, and it's now sunset, I presume I had time to do that @DM?

Rolls

Dex(Stealth) - (1d20+13)

(13) + 13 = 26

To do what... rest? Yes.

Creeping quickly across the sparsely vegetated landscape, you soon find yourselves at the corner of the steading. The thick timbers forming the outer wall stretch high above, with the roof ledge extending perhaps 5 feet over the wall. The ground here is soggy, as when it rains, it run off the roof in heavy sheets, wearing away the ground. Moss and fungus grown across the entire outer walls, most thick around the bottom, and climbing the outside is no small task with it being so slick.

Coming around the corner, in the middle of the south wall you spy your target. The guard tower extends out from the steading proper, and its roof juts up perhaps 15 feet more than the main wall. It is black as pitch, so those without dark vision cannot see anything. Those with it, don't see anything either, though you can see the four, thick support timbers at each corner of the tower. From here, you cannot see the guard.

OOC:
Short rest. Sorry. Should have been more specific. Using Arcane Recovery to get that 4th level slot back from casting Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum on our hideout.

"The doors are on the other side. The direct assault ones need to move there, and take out the guards, if any, at the doors. The stealth ones will take care of the guard tower."
Mar 7, 2019 6:35 am
"I should stay with the main group to cloak us," Ælfric said. "Alain? Julian?"
OOC:
I'd love Rary's Telepathic Bond right about now. :P
