"I can move it, and I can scale this easily, but it will be noisy." Korgazhar assessed the wall to climb over, and figured he'll have the same problem as Fernal.

"My cloaking field will muffle some of the noise but I don't know if their drunkenness is enough to muffle enough of it. It is worth a try."

Ælfric wasn't sure if the half-orc was really strong enough to move the tree or if that was merely Korgazhar's bravado talking but there seemed to be few choices at the moment.

Based on the diameter (12") and length (15') of the heavy bar, you estimate that it has to weigh in the neighborhood of 500-600 pounds.

OOC:
I just want to clarify - the gap between the top of the gate and the roof is only about 12 inches. One must be pretty small to climb over it and into the entry room, and even then it would need to be without armor... which is why Fernal could not do so. So, unless there is something like that happening, or magic is involved, none of you would be able to squeeze through.

Fremal needs to go on a diet!...Probably still wouldn't work.

OOC:
For some reason I kept thinking that the gate opened into an open area, as opposed to an actual room, so I thought we could climb over it, my bad. I will retcon.
Korgazhar acknowledged that none of them could squeeze through the gap, or at least, not without some shrinking magic, watching Fernal attempting it without success.

"I meant climb or enter through the tower, neutralise the tower guard, then come down and open the gate. Aelfric, if you anchor the grappling hook on the tower wall, Fernal and I will go up."

"None of us are suited to squeeze through this door, and the magic required to circumvent it would be far too taxing. If we are to climb the tower, we all should go, lest we be caught alone against the giants."

Alain sighs. "I may be able to move the tree, but it will be at significant cost. Do not count on my healing past this point."
OOC:
Sorry for the lack of posting, spring break has completely thrown off my daily routine. I can move the log with Telekinesis, but it will take a 5th level slot.

"It seems like our only way in as a group. Cast your spell, Loreweaver."
OOC:
We'll need all the high level magic we can get to survive inside but we have to get inside. Telekinesis away, Gene Grey!
Just to clarify... There's no open space beyond the gate. How will climbing the tower help us gain access to the fortress?
Mar 14, 2019 11:15 pm
Korgazhar did not like the fact that he didn't know enough about the capabilities of the rest of his party, especially out in the open and at risk. He waited as patiently as he could while Alain moved the bar from the door.
OOC:
Annex, if we had climbed the tower, the tower stairs would take us back down into this first room with the gate.
Mar 14, 2019 11:35 pm
OOC:
Makes sense. If we can save a 5th level spell, let's try it.
So.. Shall I get that rope up or are we committed to the telekinetic option?

OOC:
Nudge Nudge - Where to? Up the tower? Or through the entry gate?

"Save your powerful spells, Loreweaver. Let the parlour tricks suffice for now," Ælfric said as his invisible mage hand lifted the grappling hook with rope attached to secure it to the guard tower. "Prepare to deal with the giant if his drunkenness is not enough, though."

Frenal moves in position to climb after Aelfric. We can make fast work of him if he bothers us.
Mar 16, 2019 1:24 am
"I go first. Then Aelfric and Fernal. That way Aelfric's spell still covers us." Korgazhar began his ascent.
OOC:
Adding advantage if DM wants to give it to us for using a rope, rather than sheer wall scaling.

Rolls

Athletics (climbing) - (1d20+11)

(10) + 11 = 21

Athletics (if rope, then adv) - (1d20+11)

(1) + 11 = 12

Moving swiftly for one so armed and armored, Korgazhar ascends the side of the tower easily. At the top, you pull yourself over, your armor making a clanging noise as you do. The expected giant is there, lying on a cot next to a large gong. As the sound of your armor reverberates, the giant snorts and turns over.
OOC:
Stealth check please. Also, anyone else coming up will need athletics w/ advantage.
