In a moment another handful of quaggoths enters the corridor. These unfortunate creatures will need to traverse the entire breadth of Vincent's spell. The way is lined with white-furred bodies, but these newcomers continue to charge at a ferocious speed.

Ras sees the creatures approaching and waves his hand. Sharp spikes and thorns rise from the ground between the party and the creatures, hindering their movement.

Vincent snaps out of his facination watching the rats die in his spell, and follows Al's example readying his bow for a volley at anything that makes it through. His Spector remains at his side unmoving.

These four unfortunate quaggoths stampede through the light and spikes, and do not even come close to Erevain, who waits at the ready at the corridor's entrance.

Then the red light at the far end of the corridor vanishes suddenly, replaced with complete darkness, and a larger group of quaggoths begins their charge down the hall.

Expediting this round a little bit. Presumably everyone is readying an action to take out whatever quaggoths might happen to make it through, and so this round everyone gets to take their readied action - but remember that readying spells requires concentration.
The companions prepare to take out any stragglers who make it through the gauntlet of sickening light and spikes.

This time, just as the creatures arrive at the light of Vincent's spell, a quiet chant reaches the party's ears. Vincent feels his spell's magic stripped away, dispelled by another nearby magic-user. The light vanishes and the quaggoths tear forward.

If Erevain had had more time, perhaps he would have remembered more of quaggoth lore, and from where they originally came: the forests of the surface world. Once they were simple humanoids who dwelt in trees, until they were lured below to the Underdark, where they were twisted by the strange magics that line those deep tunnels. Whatever culture they had was stripped away and lost, but they retained one link to their past - the climbing claws that allow them to move as quickly through trees and cliffs as on the ground.

And so it is that these quaggoths leap to the walls and ceiling of the corridor, finding plenty of nooks and crannies in the aged walls for their claws to propel them forward at an unbelievable rate above the spikes on the floor - and toward Erevain. Despite his best attempts at defense, he is quickly overwhelmed and the quaggoths are upon the party!

So right here, post your rolls and reaction from your readied action, and any quaggoths who die will not be present in Round 7. Remember that readied Attack actions only let you make one attack, and readied spells take concentration!

The rolls above are for reals, but we won't add them up and count them until the end of Round 6 (so even if you get hurt and possibly knocked out, your readied action still happens.

And yes, the guys who are defending Dorn's Deep are butts. Smart butts.

The quaggoths tear into the heroes with frightening savagery. Erevain goes down in the blink of an eye, and the quaggoths move on against the next nearest companions. Alalla's superior armor turns side their claws but Ug and Vincent both take grievous wounds.

Erevain takes 41 slashing damage and is knocked unconscious. After resistance Ug takes 23 slashing damage. Vincent takes 33 slashing damage.

As the companions set their feet and repulse their foes, one quaggoth falls dead to glaive and arrow, and another is frozen in place by Ug's icy stare.

From the far end of the corridor the companions hear more chanting, but all they see is darkness.

As the wounded and desperate quaggoths approach, Reòthadh lets fly blast of frigid magic striking true.

Quaggoth 6 takes 14 cold damage.

As the temperature in the room begins to drop from Ug’s icy gaze, crystals of ice begin to collect on the dwarf, first on his eyebrows and beard, but eventually covering his form in a myriad of frost. Tracing a sigil, the dwarf runs into the group of frenzied enemies.

Reo casts a 5th level armor of Agathys and quickens a blade ward with his sorcery points.
