Chapter 2: Smoke on the Water

Nela while hang on the rigging calls for Shine to fly by her and with a word when Shine is close, she suddenly disappears and reappears mounted on Shine. She glares at the harpooner. Then says an arcane word and points it him. On him forms a numbing frost freezing and slowing him. Then she sends Shine to a good 70' above the combat hopefully out of harpoon range.
OOC:
Nela as a bonus action casts Misty Step (verbal only spell) to teleport to Shine. Then casts cantrip Frostbite (v,s) "LOL" 2 HP of cold damage then takes Shine 70' above the ship.

Feeling little in pain, the raging, once-feral dwarf lets out a howl and snarls viciously as he shouts, "Grog make you chum!

He lets off another barrage of blows with his greataxe, hoping to not only make chum, but a sharkskin suit and a shark's head hat as well.

Round 6: Grog

Grog's greataxe cuts Sixgill in half and bites deep into Hammerhead's side!
OOC:
I've decided, at least for this battle, that I will let melee attacks "cleave through" enemies (If you drop one, any excess damage will apply to another nearby enemy) as long as it makes sense in the fiction (for example, an arrow is probably not going to skewer two guys).

Three hits: 13 + 11 + 14 = 38 total slashing damage. The first 26 drop Sixgill. Hammerhead takes the other 12.

Round 6: Phillip

This is turning out to be the worst vacation ever! Phillip hits the hulking hammerhead upside the head with his oversized club. As the angry tourist steps back, the weresharks take cheap shots with their weapons.
OOC:

I assume Kitty is doing her best to keep up. Domare flies back to Nela for safety after seeing what just happened.
Mar 19, 2019 9:01 pm
The Kestrel is being dragged slowly, so Kitty is able to keep up. There's no telling how long her stamina will hold up if nothing is done to get her on board.

It's strange that the merrows now seem intent on taking the Kestrel as a prize, when just a few moments ago they were lobbing fire bombs onto its deck. Perhaps the fires were meant to drive the crew into the water rather than actually burn the ship? But what of the charred flotilla? Why were they burned rather than taken?

Round 6: Khiiral

Khiiral levels his dragon pistol at the weresharks crowding him and Ian on the main deck. The elf pulls the trigger, and the weapon roars. Flotsam manages to duck, but Bait and Chum eat lead.

Dropping his bow, Khiiral draws his rapier, and with one quick thrust skewers Flotsam and Chum through and through! (Mislabeled roll. It is against Flotsam, not Bait. 6 piercing damage. Double kill!)
OOC:
Oxbox, I have edited your GP character sheet. Thanks to your fighting style, you should have +10 rather than +8 to attack with the dragon pistol. Dang, I should have declared Sharpshooter with that!

Enemy turn up next.

Round 6: Enemies
Battle Music

The dragon turtle slowly picks up speed under the goading of the trident-wielding merrow lieutenant, whose weapon now appears to be glowing.

The merrow captain now raises a conch to its lips and blows a single, low note rallying the weresharks on board the Kestrel. (Rally Maneuver: Eyepatch gains 7 temp hp.)

Amidships, Bait seems about to kick away the bow at the Khiiral's feet, but the wereshark sweeps its tail at the elf's knees instead, sending him sprawling! (9 bludgeoning + Prone) The wereshark then scoops up its fallen buddy's cutlass and opens a gash in the Quartermaster's exposed back. (7 slashing.)

As Ian continues to struggle in the net, Jetsam slashes at him with its hook hand. (6 slashing.) Luckily, the First Mate is able to dodge the wereshark's chomping jaws.

Up on the poop deck, the Blackfin manages to knock Jack down, and take a big, bloody bite out of him! Jack is in trouble! (10 bludgeoning + 21 piercing. Jack goes Prone. CON save vs. lycanthropy: SUCCESS!)

The Hammerhead strikes carelessly at Grog with its tail & huge cutlass before striding away towards Valrakas. (5 bludgeoning + 6 slashing damage.)

As Phillip backpedals, Mako harpoons him in the chest, but is unable to pull him close. The wereshark chases after the tourist and rocks him with its tail, but Phillip is able to stay on his feet. (2 piercing. Phillip wins STR contest. 6 bludgeoning.) The Mako then turns to join its mates at the stern rail.

Mako, Eyepatch, and Hammerhead work in tandem to heave Valrakas overboard.

As he swims up next to Kitty alongside the Kestrel, Zale sees the captain fall into the water.
OOC:
Grog, Jack, and Phillip are up for Round 7.

Grog, and Jack may take OAs vs. Mako or Hammerhead. Phillip may take OA vs. Mako only.
Hammerhead attacked Recklessly this round, so attacks against it have advantage.
