OOC:
Grog doesn't have enough swim speed to get to M2 & M3. But we can apply Attack #3 (the only one that hits) to M1 instead.
Apr 2, 2019 4:59 pm
Jack leans against the wheel once more, voice booming out. YOU LOT THERE! Loose the sheets and fix the boom. You lot, break out the oars, we need to try freeing up our rudder!

Wheeling on the sailor with the wounded arm. You don't need an arm to slip lines loose from cleats, do ya? Make haste, I was that sheet unfurled and filled with wind yesterday. We need to fight against this big turtle damnit all! Doc'll be back soon enough.

Eyes cast to the individuals by the corpses, Leave the bodies, we deal with them later. Don't bloody up the water, makes Cap'n's job that much harder. Grab some lines and toss them in the water so shippies have a way up, yeah?\
OOC:
In short, taking whatever he needs to start barking decisive orders.
Apr 2, 2019 5:13 pm
Knowing that Khiiral will be little help underwater, he busies himself with the lines and helps where ever he can.

Round 10: Grog, Jack

Still adjusting to underwater fighting, Grog's stabs at the merrow leader repeatedly, but only lands one strike. (8 piercing damage)

The Kestrel comes to life as Jack takes charge, and the crew hops to it, getting the ship ready to fight a tug-of-war. Khiiral and Severn throw down lifelines from the stern rail and scan the water for their mates.
OOC:
Coming up: Valrakas, then baddies.

Round 10: Valrakas

With more crew members in the water, and the dragon turtle on their side, Valrakas pushes the advantage, ramming his electrified horns savagely at the merrow captain. (10 piercing + 9 lightning)

Round 10: Merrows
Battle Music

The turtle dragon turns and snaps at the merrow captain with its mighty jaws. It narrowly misses, but the merrows know the battle is lost, and orders a hasty retreat down into the depths.
OOC:
Disengage action and 40ft dive by all three merrows. Those in the water may give chase if desired. Otherwise, combat is over!
[ +- ] Status (Orange have acted. Green may act.)
Apr 3, 2019 4:26 pm
Zale considers giving chase - he can swim faster than the merrows after all - but decides against it. Swimming towards the Kestrel instead, he lays a reassuring hand on the turtle dragon as he swims past. He speaks again in Aquan, "I am called Zale, young one. First, let us loose your bonds, then let us destroy this trident!"
OOC:
What rolls do you need to detach the chains from the dragon and from the rudder?
Apr 4, 2019 8:04 am
OOC:
No roll required.
Working together, the crew are able to remove the chains from both the dragon turtle and the ship's rudder.

Jabes.plays.RPG sent a note to campeador
All hands are eventually accounted for on board. The captain is a bloody mess, and retires to his cabin, leaving Ian and the other officers in charge.

The woman who was rescued with the baby thank all of you profusely, but weep for some of the weresharks who were once men from her village before they were bitten and turned. Magda is her name, and she says the child, Lena, is not hers, but a friend's. Their village is a league and a half north of here. She and her companions (basketweavers, fruit farmers, silversmiths) were on their way to sell their wares at the Floating Market when they were attacked.

Where do you sail?

Magda's and Lena's village is a safe place where you can make repairs and rest up. Did she say silvermiths? Yes, she did.

The Floating Market is where you can most likely buy and sell anything you need, and plenty of things you don't. When Magda is shown your sea maps, she doesn't recognize anything. She says their maps look totally different. You can find some, and perhaps speak with other sailors, at the Floating Market.

There might be a third option, depending on Zale's interaction with the dragon turtle.

I don't bloody like aby of this. Where in the bowls of the Abyss are we?

Jabes.plays.RPG says:
Zale, you learn that the young dragon turtle's name is Chelonax, and that she was taken by the merrows from her mother about three leagues east of here. Do you share this with anyone?
OOC:
I share this with the ship's officers, and with a select few crew mates. (In other words, with all the PCs but no one else).

What would be the best way to destroy the trident? Just break it over my knee? Give it to Chelonax?
Apr 4, 2019 3:07 pm
OOC:
I missed something...what's the issue with the trident?
Apr 4, 2019 3:17 pm
OOC:
I convinced the dragon turtle to fight for us by promising to free it, and destroy the trident that was being used to control it. See here.
Apr 4, 2019 3:26 pm
OOC:
Ah, no worries. break away
Apr 4, 2019 4:28 pm
At first, Valrakas isn't too happy about letting a powerful weapon go to waste, but when it's explained to him that this was the price for the dragon turtle's aid in that crucial moment, he doesn't protest any further. At any rate, he's too tired to argue.

As none of you have any particular knowledge of matters arcane, you'll have to seek help figuring out how to destroy it. Chelonax doesn't want to take it, but says her mom might know what to do with it.

So what'll it be? Magda's village? The Floating Market? Chelonax's mom? Something else?
Apr 4, 2019 5:32 pm
Seems to me if Chelonax's mother may know how to destroy it, we should utilize that information. Zale, would Chelonax be able to ensure our craft's safety if we head that direction? If not, we should return Magda to her village and then be gone from this tract of sea. Jack says after relinquishing control of the helm back to the officers.

"I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN MY TIME IS WASTED!!! With the apparent changes of hostility, Phillip releases Ian. He looks about and storms back down into the hold grumbling on the way down.
OOC:

With Zale translating, Chelonax says, "My mommy is big and strong, and could protect your ship for sure! If she's still there. I sure hope she's still there!"

Grog seems groggy from the fight. He doesn't seem to very injured, having sustained what he would consider little knicks. He listens to the babble, not really offering anything helpful; that is, even if he was able to.

He heard the shiny word 'silver' and got excited, but upon hearing that they may go for the dragon turtle's mummy first, he let off a big stomp to get their attention.

"Grog! Shiny!"

He then points to his greataxe.

"Grog no like bitey men, bitey men no like shiney! Shiney make Grog axe! "

Nela goes the Cap to heal him. She says to him, No more hero. She then begins casting some healing. She heals him for 34 HP.
