Steading of the Hill Giant Chief

"Stop, you will do no such thing! Gruumsh commands it! I kill the giants, come free your tribe!" Korgazhar raised his voice to match the Keeper's, but spoke in orcish, to countermand the giant's call for help, before the orc had a chance to act on the order.
OOC:
Shamelessly rolling with advantage because we're orc-kin! If not to stop the orc from calling for help, then at least for the orc to pause and investigate below.

Korgazhar
The orc at the top of the stairs pauses, if only briefly, before it squeals and runs away back toward the kitchen.

The bugbear reinforcements split up, soe coming at Korgazhar and the Keeper, while the rest run to aid their comrade engaged by Fernal.
[ +- ] Lower Level - 11
OOC:
Bugbears all take the DASH action to get into position as indicated by the map. All can go, but note that the Keeper's action will go after Ambrosia.

Ligeia charges out of the cell block to attack the bugbears engaged with Fernal while Julian stepped forward to drain the Keeper of his life essence.
OOC:
Ligeia: Attack most heavily damaged bugbear in melee with Fernal and not under the effect of Hypnotic Pattern.
CRIT for 18 damage
Julian: Toll the dead on the Keeper. Wis Save 17, or 15 damage

This was last action from the previous turn, not the new round?

DM, are there any Bugbears still effected by Ambrosia's Faerie Fire?
Jun 27, 2019 8:19 pm
OOC:
Yes - 3, 4, and 5 (though 4 and 5 are still hypnotized)
Jun 27, 2019 8:29 pm
OOC:
#3 is still Faerie Fire'd? Here's my advantage shot from my last turn!
OOC:
If allowed, the damage from that shot was 31. Should I bother rolling for the crit?

Rolls

Longbow attack - (1d20+9)

(20) + 9 = 29

Jun 27, 2019 8:35 pm
Fernal is foaming in the mouth as she passes into rage. Still holding out and she has went reckless or frenzy yet. She screams in a high pitch thrill "I Cheee" has she launcher herself at the bug bear.
OOC:
Hit for 19 and 24 damage. Is the bugbear dead? That determines the rest of her round. And if it is dead can she step over it and attack the next bugbear while standing in its dead space?

Sorry I'm a little confused with the init order now. Can I be lazy and just say let me know when I'm up again? or could you repost the order?

OOC:
I'm keeping count! It's a new round. Bugbears have gone, dash action. Ambrosia is up, then Keeper, then the rest of us. Although I believe DM's ok if we post in our usual messy order. Julian's action is for the previous round, but Fernal's and Aelfric's actions are for this round. Ambrosia, the Keeper, Dwendylin and Korgazhar are up.
"Get these buggers off me!" Korgazhar was undeterred by the three bugbears, but was more concerned about further reinforcements of the gigantic kind. "Light them up!" He called out for more of the magical illumination which made his attacks so much more deadly.
OOC:
Since Ambrosia and the Keeper are ahead in init order, can Korgazhar declare his actions after that? I'm hoping for more Faerie Fire!

OOC:
Ok, let's take a step back. As Benzie indicated, the bugbears all went, as they are at the top of the order. They all used DASH, except #3, who is attacking Fernal. I updated the map with everyon'e current position.

Julian never posted an action last turn, so what he just posted was the last thing I needed for last turn. However, rather than continue to wait, I had intended on him losing the turn if he didn't post (though I would have reached out before doing so). That said, since he went and the bugbears went, I told everyone else to go.

With the order shown below, you can see that only Ambrosia comes between the current enemy. So, I just let you all post, with the understanding that the Keeper's action would come before the party. I don't like to wait for everyone to go in turn, so I just go in groups. Again, in this case, the entire party is in one croup so it works out. Maybe I will try annex's way of doing combat next time, especially if enemy and party are all intermixed, but for now we go as groups.

Initiative
---------------
Bugbear 20
Ambrosia 17
Keeper 14
Ligeia 11
Dwendylin 10
Julian 09
Fernal 08
Korgazhar 07
Aelfric 06

So, once everyone posts (Julian included for this turn after I roll the keeper save), I will post the Keeper action to close the round.
Hope this helps!

Julian
All around the lower cell, a loud, heavy bell sounds, as as you watch, the Keeper is visible shaken as his life force is pulled from him.
OOC:
Official end of the previous turn.

Rolls

Keeper Save DC17 - (1d20+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Jun 29, 2019 11:53 pm
OOC:
Yep, got that, I tried to summarise that to say for this turn the bugbears had gone, and was intending to wait for Ambrosia's actions before posting Korgazhar's.
Frustrated that bugbear reinforcements had arrived, Korgazhar pressed his attack on the giant, intending to ignore the distractions of the lesser humanoids. "Coward. Come face me alone!"
OOC:
Major edit: Ambrosia has cast Faerie Fire, so if it's successful, I'm going to attack with GWM instead. This won't disrupt init order because it's Ambrosia then Keeper then the rest. So Korgazhar would be able to see the effects of Faerie Fire and adjust his attacks accordingly. If the Faerie Fire doesn't succeed, we'll stick to the non-GWM set of attack rolls.

Having healed her ally, Dwen goes on the offensive once more. Intent on focusing down the Keeper, she raises her hands before her once again, palms facing out, and unleashes yet another volley of searing hot beams of focused sunlight.

With the Pegasus helping Fernal for the moment, Ælfric focused on helping Korgazhar against the bugbears surrounding him by firing an arrow at the nearest one! After his attack, he retreated into the cell vacated by the Pegasus.
OOC:
Moving next to Dwendylin, firing at Bugbear #7 with extra Sneak Attack damage since it's within 5 feet of my ally, moving into the nearest cell.

Rolls

1d20+9 : (5) + 9 = 14

5d6 : (61221) = 12

OOC:
Based on Aelfric's updated attack from last round, Bugbear #3 has fallen. #8 and #10 are now closing to attack. I will allow Ligeia and Fernal to re-point their attack this round to a new opponent. $4 and #5 are still under the sway of Hypnotic Pattern, with 7 turns remaining on the spell.

Also, Fernal only rolled one attack, so you cannot have 2 damages. Please update your post to include the second attack and damage if you want to. I'll wait for the results of any updates before posting.

OOC:
So for this turn, I have Ambrosia as yet to go, so I will wait until then to declare the Keeper's action. Korghazar attacked with his glaive, but I need to know against who. Dwendylin has atatcked with a scorching ray for 24 HP damage against the Keeper, Fernal has attacked, but I need to know against whom, and Aelfric has missed with his arrow.
OOC:
I need Ambrosia, Julian and Ligeia (this turn and any adjustment to who he attacked last turn) to post.
After this turn, we will shift to going in order. Bugbears, Ambrosia, Keeper, Ligeia, Dwendylin, Julian, Fernal, Korgazhar and Aelfric... in that order. Sorry this got away from us.
Jul 1, 2019 9:29 pm
Poor way of writing it.. Fernal made a hit with a 19.... and her damages were 22 hp (13+9) of damage ( had 24 due to poor addition).... Her attack was with advantage and she rolled 13 and a 19.

Was bugbear three dead already before her attack?
Jul 1, 2019 9:38 pm
OOC:
Yes, so you can choose to move up and attack any of the 4 bugbears in front of you. #4 and #5 are still under Julian's spell. The other two have just arrived.
