I'll do my character and write a small backstory tonight. Then we'll find connections.

Custom background
Herbalist
You specialize in finding rare herbs to make to make cures and healing kits. But you also know not all herbs have healing properties, some of them can be used to make poisons...
Skills: Choose two from Medicine, Nature, Perception or Survival
Tools: Herbalism kit, Poisoner's kit
Feature: Wanderer. You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.

How do you want to deal with crafting (if it's possible) in your game? I mainly want to be able to craft healers kits, antitoxins, basic poisons and potion of healings. If possible, I'd also like to gather materials for them and maybe collect poison from creatures we kill (like snakes)...

We'll be using the crafting rules in Xanathar's. Healing potions take a day and 25g worth of goods. You can certainly gather materials. Likely have you do a Nature or Survival check to find materials and harvest them. How well you do determines how much you collect.

Healer's Kits you can make by gathering all the requisite pieces and parts worth 4 gold or so and spending a few hours to bundle/package/whatever.

The rest we'll kind of play by ear, but similar in nature (huck yuck).

Background looks good. What gear are you going to be taking?

I'm gonna submit my character tonight. It's almost done. I'll take a chance and roll for starting gold (2d4x10gp)
I'm not sure what feat to choose, Healer (my first choice) or Magic Initiate, Druid (mainly for more cantrips and 1 more spell slot)...

Here's Mandrake the Healer, a human child from an unknown origin. He was left in the Mosstop forest and found by elves. Since nobody knew in Bromwich who's child he was, the elves kept and raised him. He learned the ways of nature from them and now uses his knowledge to help both the elves and the humans when they are sick.

I will edit his gear and some wild shapes soon...

Hey guys, here's my finished character. Dramasailor did say to go wild...

As an Eladrin, Nàdair is very much connected to nature and the feywild. I was thinking this could be reflected by her changing with the seasons.
These changes include appearance, personality and available arcane schools! Now, this possibly just makes her useless, so there may need to be some re-balancing. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions! (and remember, "common mortals" may not understand what an eladrin is and assume the information below is just pretty elf magic, at the start of the game ;) )

Also, because Nàdair is a story teller, here are some of her tales you may have heard (being a bard, it doesn't have to be all true).

Glenk is the second in command of the town guard. Generally questioning and trying to learn about magic at all regardless of source. Druids, bards, paladins, he’s probably talked to most of you if you e come in to town in the last 30 years. He’s nice enough. Doesn’t expect too much, but he wears his chain mail everyday. He says he can’t grow rusty.

Deadpool, Mandrake looks good.

LWunder and Squadfather, how are you coming on characters? Is there any help either of you need (either in terms of creating them or getting them set up on GamersPlane)?
Apr 4, 2019 7:49 pm
so do we have like 3 people as guards? or is it less? I cant keep track so far :P
Apr 4, 2019 8:13 pm
ah yes, (updated) tracking people may be a good idea. lets see...
2 knights and a city watch (below knight status I presume) and 2 teams forest casters
OOC:
Since triquetra0 and Squadfather44 and on it together and me and deadpool_qc are kind on in negotiations.
I'd like to suggest that CavernTavern joins in with the knights, maybe as second in the city watch he coordinates defenses with the various knightly orders and such.
While I'd invite my fellow wood elf to join the bard and the druid on our forest team

If we were to start as 2 teams and reduces overarching "motivations" in the group, I guess it would be easier to bring everyone together, compared with everyone having their own goals (that's kind of what happening in another game I'm at...). Just to be clear, I fully support individual goals, particularly if they involve a good twist :D
triquetra0: half-orc; paladin of conquest knight
Squadfather44: human; fighter Knight of the Order the Ravensbane
CavernTavern: Glenk Stonebone, dwarf; fighter/sorcerer City Watch

Lwunder: wood elf rogue
CESN: Nàdair Ràithean, eladrin; glamour bard courtier
deadpool_qc: Mandrake the Healer, human; dream druid herbalist

For my connections with the other characters...
1) Nàdair (CESN): Your suggestions are perfect. So we know each other closely and have often traveled together. The Archdruid has asked me to keep you safe when I'm with you. He only told me you were important for the future, but never told me how or why. But Mandrake will protect you with his life simply because you are his friend.
2) For everybody in town, especially the soldiers, I have probably healed you from a training wound or helpped with some lasting disease. I know the clerics also do all that, but I have never charged anybody in the village, doing it only to help people.

I’m a fan of being teamed with the knights. Send me some more info in the discord knights! If we haven’t traded yet.
