"What's our new plan? Build a boat?"
Mar 18, 2016 4:37 pm
Shuushar shakes his head, speechless for a moment. A few moments go by before he finds his voice, "I've never heard of the Deep Father... We've always revered the Sea Mother. Things have gone very wrong in my home, I fear."

"I will understand if you want to turn aside for Neverlight Grove and avoid my home, but I must return."

Soliin looks down at his hands, confused at what happened in the battle. "Did anyone else see a spray of color come from my hands?" He walks over to Hunter. "You're experienced in magic. Is that what I did?" He juts his hands out in a random direction. "But I can't seem to do it again. I saw you with a bag of what I thought was random stuff. Does magic require something other than fancy words and pretty hands?"
Mar 18, 2016 5:06 pm
"I did, Soliin," replies Hunter with a soft smile to the first question. "You are full of surprises, aren't you? Yes, certain spells do require a material component, either the ingredients to power the spell, or foci to channel your will."

She holds out her component pouch. "Here. Sarith found this back at Velkynvelve, pulled from one of our drow captors. I only need this wire and this piece of leather. You may use whatever else is left in that bag."

Hunter resists the urge to pat Soliin on the head. He's not a child, she tells herself, and instead busies her hands with wrapping the copper wire around her ear and leading it to her cheek.

As Hunter hands him the bag, he looks inside. Not sure what I'm doing, so I guess I'll have to figure it out as I go.... He holds his hand out to Hunter, as a sign of gratitude, but notices she's moved off. He turns and goes off to check the belongings of the dead for any clues.
Mar 18, 2016 7:15 pm
Hunter watches the halfling over her shoulder. "We'll chat later," she says aloud to Soliin and sees to Stool and Shuushar.

"As for your people, Shuushar, what is your plan? Something tells me you won't last long if there's some kind of religious schism tearing your city apart."
Mar 18, 2016 7:20 pm
Shuushar shrugs sadly, "I don't really know what I can do... but I do know that I have to go and do something."
Mar 18, 2016 7:24 pm
"Well... for starters, what can you tell an ignorant half-elf about this Sea Mother?" asks Hunter. "A deity of yours, I assume? Therefore you have a priesthood or some organization dedicated to promoting her tenets?"
Mar 18, 2016 7:49 pm
"Friendly bunch!" exclaims Elfog as he wipes the blood from his weapon. "If all of your people are as welcoming as these I think we skip this part of the trip and get to taking mushroom home."
Mar 18, 2016 9:42 pm
"I assure you that this is far from normal for my people," Shuushar responds to Elfog.

"The Sea Mother is the goddess that protects our people from outside threats. My people are very dedicated to her worship and are ruled by her archpriests," Shuushar explains.
Mar 18, 2016 10:56 pm
Hunter nods. "It sounds like there's a rival faction that has risen in power. Your people have no other deities?"
Mar 20, 2016 5:52 pm
"Worship of other deities is severely frowned upon, and very uncommon."
Mar 20, 2016 5:59 pm
"Congratulations, then," says Hunter, though her tone is serious. "Your city appears to have had a change of heart."

To the group, Hunter asks, "If we avoided Sloobludop, how much of a delay is there in crossing Darklake?"
Mar 21, 2016 5:01 am
Mai'ngor looks to Sarith to answer Hunter's query.
Mar 21, 2016 12:48 pm
Sarith looks decidedly uncomfortable with that prospect, "Going across the Darklake on our own is a dangerous task. No one knows what truly lurks beneath the surface. We could be pulled down at any moment without an experienced guide."

Moments after Sarith's response you hear what sounds like a foot step on the stones coming from the the direction of Sloobludop. Peering in that direction, you see a Kuo Toa come into view, followed by another, and then another in elaborate ceremonial robes.

Shuushar stares in shock and whispers, "That is Ploopploopeen... The archpriest of the Sea Mother!"
Mar 21, 2016 3:48 pm
Hunter straightens, an outward gesture of formality, but really it is to position herself between the approaching kuo-toa and Stool. She keeps her hands lowered and in sight, watching the procession.
Mar 21, 2016 4:53 pm
Mai'ngor lowers his weapons, but does not dismiss Sinag. Bright sunlight continues to flood the immediate area.
Mar 21, 2016 10:06 pm
"Looks like more enemies to me" Elfog grumbles as he reaches for his sword and approaches Mai'ngor. "Ready for another fight?"
Mar 21, 2016 10:08 pm
The archrpiest steps forward, wincing as the light enters his large eyes."I am Ploopploopeen, archpriest of the Sea Mother Blibdoolvpoolp. She answers my prayers by delivering you. Help us, and you will be rewarded for your service." He speaks in a gurgling voice, twitching and gyrating with every word.
Mar 21, 2016 11:17 pm
Hunter guides Shuushar forward with her, walking to Mai'ngor's light. "Your greeting is welcome, archpriest," she says, "particularly compared to your former brethren. May we ask what 'help' you are seeking?"
