2.0 - Lure of the Lost

I'm good.

Given the day you've had -- you all suggest that the third holocron can wait another day while you rest up a little from the day. Marc and Joka learn the layout of the Temple -- it's not that large after all -- and become familiarized with the holocron personalities of the Curator and the Warden. The Warden gamefully offers to spar each of them.

Joka finds his way to a security room that has been thoroughly trashed and Joka sees that he can apply his mechanical skills to good use here (PPP computers or mechanics check) if he'd like to bring the systems back up to snuff. Right now he can operate the security cameras that have been restored -- but it looks like there are some additional defenses that are shut-down and in a bit of a dire state thanks to some dude named Malefax, according to the Curator when Joka idly asks.

Adding this to his list of things to do, Joka joins Marc, Mal, Heyop and Csillag -- along with Hethan Romund -- in the holocron room as the third, and final, holocron is returned to its place.

The snap as the holocron fits into place precedes the sound of new systems deep within the temple whirring to life, just as with the previous artifact. The Curator and the Warden manifest with pleased expressions, joined shortly afterward by a hologram formed of pure white light—the final gatekeeper. The figure is a short, humanlike Miraluka, dressed in plain robes and wearing a blindfold over his vestigial eye sockets. His round face creases with a smile as he observes you within the holocron room and, at last, he speaks.

"Greetings, young aspirants. I am called the Jailor, custodian of the Dawn Temple. It is my duty and my burden to oversee the care of those who have fallen to the lure of the dark side of the Force, and the return of their wounded spirits to the light. I understand from my compatriots that you are to thank for restoring me to my place in the temple, and for bringing new hope into these dark times. If you will forgive me, I must begin a diagnostic of the dormant systems and ensure nothing has gone amiss in my absence—but when I am done, I will be glad to assist you in any way that I am able."

The Jailor disappears as his work begins.

Excited and encouraged by the Jailor's words regarding diagnostics, Joka eagerly gets to work trying to restore some of the damaged systems.

Joka gets to work on the security system and over the course of the day is able to bring some sentry guns back to life, enable some forcefields that can be activated locally with wall-mounted control-pads throughout the temple (this will cost a manuver) as well as some stasis traps. With the internal security system repaired, Joka is pretty happy with himself and you all feel that much safer in the temple -- certain that the defenses will help hold back any external interlopers.

Several days later as each of you stands in the main temple taking turns to spar against the Warden, youou are startled by an outbreak of noise echoing through the corridors—the sound of stampeding feet and shouting voices. It sounds like a huge crowd, but you aren’t sure how anyone could have approached the temple so suddenly—and then you realize it is coming from the sealed-off lower levels. After a scant few moments, the source of the clamor spills out to where you are, revealing itself to be a horde of wild-eyed beings of various species, all dressed in the ragged remains of some simple uniform. A few of them see you, and hatred flares in their maddened gazes. They brandish scavenged weapons, even as the rest of their compatriots stream toward the temple exit.
