Heyop raises an eyebrow, "Do you have a better suggestion on how to resolve it besides killing them?" Heyop asks with a level of seriousness. "If all we need is time we strip them of their armor and comms and give them minimum supplies so they can get to a water source and work their way back from the middle of nowhere to civilization, if we figure in the best of conditions what they could travel we can drop them farther out and give them a general direction to the closest outskirt of a settlement. Dropping them off with nothing to defend themselves or survive with is the same as killing them and I'm not doing that. And if our supplies are that sparse we have other problems to deal with and we'll have to hunt for food just as they will." he adds. "If you can figure out what you need and how many days to attempt to fix with some assistance from the rest of us before we drop down we'll have an idea of where to drop off the troopers to buy ourselves time."

Do their suits have any sort of homing beacons? If we can drop them somewhere and send a signal they should find a quick rescue, we wouldn't need to leave as much in the way of supplies. They probably wouldn't even need their weapons at that point.
Jun 29, 2016 1:52 pm
"A quick rescue works against what we need currently which sounds like time though. Plus we don't know anyone on world so it'll likely cost a bit to get in a mechanic to look over things plus credit for parts and equipment."

OOC:
can I roll mechanics to guesstimate how much time/parts I'll need? assuming hard difficulty since I don't really know the ship

Keeping troopers on our ship works against time, too. They aren't going to sit around play Sobacc with us. They will escape given enough time to devise a plan. I think we just dump them somewhere and let nature decide their fate. They're resourceful, they'll survive...or they won't...either way we need to be rid of them.

I think for a moment, Do you think we could sell them to someone? Kill two troopers with one stone?

If all else fails I guess two troopers with one stone can be our contingency plan...

"I'm not going to drop them off where the most likely outcome is they die." Heyop states before he grinds his teeth,
"I don't Dagger are we up for discussion on how we'd feel about being put into slavery as well for money?"
Jun 29, 2016 2:14 pm
The Empire and those of my own planet never thought twice about putting me into slavery, I say with a sudden and dark deadly seriousness. That Empire didn't even think twice when they laid waste to an entire compound of slaves. The very one I escaped. I would sell these men into slavery a thousand times so they can feel even a small fraction of that loss. Let them see what it is like to be sold into the servitude of the Empire they protect. Let them watch those burn who they swore to free, my voice is becoming hoarse and harsh.

These men, you protect are nothing more than mindless drones of an Empire that allows the very slavery you are talking about. Do you know what it is to see your own brothers and sisters in shackles around you? The women you know and care about put into perverse outfits and made to dance for their master? Do you, Heyop?, I almost shout my last words.
Jun 29, 2016 2:25 pm
"No Dagger I don't know what it's like. But what you're talking about doesn't make it right or change the outcome of how things work and in truth it won't make you feel better in the long run... You want revenge, be a better person and do good instead of letting it twist you and eat you up."

"Do you know what it's like to be one of those troopers to live their lives though? Do you want to know what it's like to see a grenade get tossed at your squad or heavy artillery atomize half a body, people you've bleed with and laughed with and suddenly one of them or you are gone? Nothing but memories that fade and scraps of flesh, an image flashed in squadmates minds that seem to be the lasting memory of you?"
Jun 29, 2016 2:37 pm
I know that feeling more than you know, Heyop. To lose those that you love because someone else was just following their orders. Because they saw you as nothing more than property to be lost. I'll be the better person. I'll leave them with their lives if they can keep them. It's better than a blaster round to the head, which is what those I love were given.
Jun 29, 2016 2:49 pm
"I can only imagine. Being the better person is rarely easy, most don't see or appreciate it, but it's like getting old... it ain't for #*$$!&$"

"On that note you seem more of the big brother type and Urik still flinches from physical contact like he's about to be tortured or worse... maybe you two can help each other out."
Jun 29, 2016 2:58 pm
I glare at Heyop a bit, not really happy with his insistence on protecting the Imperials, but not having a better solution that he seems to want to accept. I turn to leave. Fine. Do whatever you want with the bucketheads. Throw them a kriffing party for all I care. I need to go find something to eat. I'm tired of reserve rations. They taste like kark.

I walk off and ask one of the people attending the spaceport what this spaceport might consider a good diner or cantina.

Mal clears his throat uncomfortably.

"So, we give them food, water and a blaster and drop them off where it might take days to find civilization? sounds like too many random variables could go into play with that. If we had a brig, this would be easier..."

Mal opens his mouth to say something else, thinks better of it, then says it anyway

"I don't suppose 'just following orders' flies smoothly with you guys"
Jun 29, 2016 3:29 pm
"Yes and no... really depends on the orders." Heyop admits and nods towards Mal, "You have an idea on what we need to do to get the ship up and running?"
Jun 29, 2016 3:38 pm
Well, I don't know the exact specs of this ship, but in a general sense.. it's looking like a couple of days if not more to fix the hyperdrive. limping along to another system after dropping these guys off doesn't seem very appealing, we'll run out of supplies quicker that way. Unless there's some spare coolant tubes on board We'll have to scrounge some up. Not to mention spare wiring and insulation.

Mal looks at Urik appraisingly. If he's helping me he's staying out of trouble

He puts an arm on Urik's shoulder. "Sure. That's how I learned."

Sorry, deleted my post once I saw all the other posts that came in.

Urik nods to Mal, "Ok then, lets get to work. The sooner we get the ship fixed, the sooner we can be off planet." He looks out to Dagger chatting up some locals, I hope he's alright. Slavery...I didn't know. The Empire practices slavery? They are looking worse all the time. No wonder my parents went to wild space.

"I'll find some supplies. It'd be good to have enough rations to get us back home." She goes off in search of the dockmaster to figure out how to resupply the Strider while Mal worries about fixing it up.
OOC:
Good roll, Mal -- yah. A couple days should do it. Nothing is hard, it's just fiddly work and if you screw it up, you could pop out of Hyperspace Jabba-knows-where. As a result, you're not inclined to screw it up.

Dagger and Kaveri hop-to off of the ship and move on their respective errands. Dagger's on the search for a better meal and Kaveri for better supplies. Dagger is able to get pointed to a cantina with respectable, and not too expensive, fare while Kaveri finds herself haggling with the dockmaster for something tastier than protein-in-a-pack.

In the cantina, Dagger finds a seat readily at the bar and the bartender asks, "What'll it be?"

Back on the Strider, Mal begins the tedious tasks of repairs.
OOC:
Anything notable y'all are looking to accomplish? My sense is you're happy enough to get repaired, get resupplied, drop off some troopers with or without a blaster wound and move on -- but don't let me force you down a path!

OOC:
I think since Urik is helping me, I'll see what he's all about
Mal starts the process of repairing the ship, taking off his coat and choosing the right hydrospanner as Urik helps out. Mal is still slightly wary since he doesn't think the kid is entirely stable.

So kid.. Urik... What's your story? how did you end up falling in with this lot?
