The ocean thrums against the creaking hull as pressed bodies cough and jostle in the dark. It's hard to say how many others are in the hold, chained and caged, but here you all are together, half starved. The attack that brought you into this lightless prison was swift and terrifying as the legendary Captain Chainfist and his undead crew swept in and systematically murdered and captured your people. The worst part of it: the vampires have started to grow desperate and pray to keep their sanity against their growing hunger, wolves caged with sheep.

At this time, your equipment has been taken from you and you are dressed in, at best, a shirt and pants.

Darastrix had given up already on tying to break or pull the chains on her free. The redden marks on her prove that she didn't give up easy. She had cursed every single one of the undead crew with no avail to even get a response. Threats of vile destruction and what not. Whatever she could think of and she has a vile vivid imagination. She has taken her captivity poorly and not without giving verbal abuse whenever possible.

She quickly find that no one wants to be near her in arms reach of her. Perhaps she bites, but she certainly claws. Evil Chainfist as already informed her if uses her known ability of force on anything, she would be sucking the bottom of the sea. From what you have heard, she is Darastrix the red. A known pirate.

Her short flaming red hair is well mattered grim and some blood where she had pounded her head worthlessly against a skeletons skull. Her clothing is working its way to rags. She had given up on trying to keep it in decent condition. She saves her energy to be spiteful. It is obvious the hardships cast upon has not yet broken her.

To be sure she has received less food than others and darn near starvation lately. Also the time she lite up three skeleton with faire fire didn't fare well for her when the figured out it was her doings. She claimed that she want to see what she was going to kill later. The final warning about the sea bottom was put to her as well not eating anything for 3 days. One day for each skeleton that she faire fire'd up.

Hurkor grunted as he once more tried to get free and said "This is not good. Not good at all, I have a brother to find!" He looks down for a moment and continues "And they put a shirt on me? No, you can't contain these pecs in a mere shirt!"

Not yet giving up he pulled at the chains and yelled "You can't keep me here forever! I'll come for you, Chainfist! You hear me? I'll get you!" his dark skin covered in sweat, Hurkor wasn't the type to give up. As he struggled he said to what seemed like an empty room, "Is anyone else even in here?"

Jergen raised his head at the rattling of a nearby slaves chains. With a predatory glance, he checks to see if anyone had made a mistake of moving closer. It would seem that Chainfist had set Jergen a few feet away from the nearest slave. Just out of reach of being grabbed and fed upon.

Seeing that he wasn't to eat yet again, Jergen settles back into his nook. A silent and deadly predator, waiting for that one fateful mistake. As he was about to close his eyes again, Jergen hears someone shouting from a few feet away. "Aye, you're not alone."

Itzel sits calmly. She knows she doesn't have the strength to break the chains, so she does not wear her skin Rae in the attempt. She prays for strength and tries her best to calm any other followers of Tilonalli or any of the Threefold Sun.

Stay strong, we have to be ready if an opportunity comes up.

The stirring of the other prisoners caused her eyes to snap open. It was hard to meditate with so much chatter. "Really?" She called out to Itzel, sarcasm dripping from her voice. "I had planned to let the first few opportunities pass me by. I'm taking this opportunity to catch up on my beauty rest."

Darastrix is very still in the darkness. Must be a more active day. she thinks. Not knowing where it is day or not. She says in a rather horse voice, The filthy swabs will break you.

And she adds with possibly a laugh of chuckle, but it hard to tell if it was much than an over breathing hard exhaling. She says with vile in her voice, Then you get to be crew.

There is no freedom greater than the skies, and so a caged siren suffers cruelly. Aglaophonos shivers in her chains, the darkness, the dank air, everything about her present circumstance draining her will to live. She sustains herself with a near-constant torrent of venomous verbal abuse directed towards Chainfist:

"You sour-faced malignancy! You craven pignut! You whoreson hell-hated puttock! May every siren of Ixalan conspire to send you to the depths! And may the darkest creatures of the deepest abyss subject you to eternal damnation!"

Not for the first time Mishana wondered what smelled worse, the walking dead or the unwashed softskins. Sharing this hold with them had been unbearable. Safety was but a bulkhead away, but chains held her, for now. She thought she might be able to break them, but she could not fight her way past her captors. Not yet. And they never rested. The undead were wicked things. Unnatural and foul. But she bided her time. At some point they would make a mistake and she would be gone.

With the rattling of chains she shifted her position. The cramped hold was too small for her towering form. Her fins were chafing against the chains. She yearned for the embrace of the ocean to wash her clean. Soon.... very soon...

Now with a good look, you can really see that her ragged clothing is just hanging on her. It is amazing that she has anything strength left in her. You imagine it is being fuel by the vile hatred in her possibly. Bother her arms and legs show redness and cuts from fighting with the chains. She now holds those chains like weapons in her hands. You get the distinct feeling she knows how to use them for such too.

She doesn't say a word as the cage is open now, but she is looking about. Perhaps she is taking where she is as it is the first time she has gotten a good view.

Each of the four large cages holds roughly an equal amount of prisoners. As you know, cell one contains the player characters that rolled 1-5, aft starboard. 6-10 is aft port, 11-15 is fore port, and 16-20 is fore starboard. The cage doors are port and starboard facing, each with a pair of "pirate" skeleton guards. In addition to the pcs and the old salt, there are 20 humans from the Sun Empire, five vampires and ten humans from the Legion of Dusk, five River Heralds and 15 pirates of various races from the Brazen Coalition; making for 66 in total and very cramped quarters.

The first part of this chapter is meant to be cinematic, so we won't be rolling for initiative, advantage will be given to attack rolls that are well played out. The skeletons are only meant to be a threat to individual characters, but are easily overwhelmed by the mob about to break free from the cages. Welcome to slave rebellions. That being said, feel free to put as many skeletons in your way as you like. Have fun!
The Old Salt stands as his chains are undone, and rubs the stump where his right hands should be, the pale light reflects like fire in his weary eyes. "That's a good lad," he nods to Tenoch, "Make sure that key gets passed about, we'll need the lot of us to get through this. Now for the rest of ye, gather yer wits and courage, you'll make for the forward hold and your gear, then up to the longboats. Get on with it ya bilge rats!"
Aug 3, 2019 5:03 pm
Cinematic: To be sure there is lots of flashes of force between curses from Darastrix. When her hatred cools a little from blowing skeletons apart, she looks to rush to the forward hull as she heard the Old Salt say that her gear might be there. She wants it before she leaves this forsaken ship that she has thoughts to lite up on the way out. She will not be the one to help the wounded or sick out. If your helping her blow away skeletons then she offer for you to come with her on the way out. Arg me mate's.
Aug 3, 2019 5:52 pm
Itzel will allow those more well suited to destroy the skeletons. If there are any prisoners who are to injured to make it on their own, she will do her best to help them. She won't leave anyone behind.

Here's trademark feral grin spreads wider as he sees the chain break free of the wall. Looking down he sees that a section is still attached to the manacles around his wrists.

Flipping the loose end up and catching it in his hands, he makes a rough blunt weapon to swing. Stepping forward he sets to forcing open the cage door. Looking around at the other vampires that are in chains, his grin spreads even wider.

For game purposes, Darastrix has +3 ranged attack and does 1d10 force damage. She does hold a +2 INIT. She is running 12 AC.

Also known she can cast Faerie Fire which she can do even curled in ball chained up, but will not use that while we easily overrun the skeletons.

Her vile tongue doesn't not constitute a weapon but she uses it often. Currently it is mostly centered on skeletons and Chainfist. Her slurs define her a sea loving creature. (Use the word loving figuratively.) She is definitely seabound and some of the Pirates especially might well recognize. Her flaming red hair and attitude well mark her. LOL. If they are looking for a new leader to rally under she is available.

She will gladly lead the way to the forward. In fact it probably would be hard to stop her and any skeleton that did is no doubt blown to pieces.

As the key was passed to her Mishana unshackled herself and passed on the key to eager hands. the merfolk stood calmly, rubbing chafed limbs. Others were already running ahead to deal with their undead captors. Good. She waited a moment, then followed near the rear of the mob. Unlike the others she did not require a boat for escape, but she did want her personal belongings back. Thankfully, the mob was easily overwhelming their foes ahead.

Hurkor shrugs, then proceeds to the forward hold. He searches a while before finding his longsword and his mace, twirling them a bit. As he calms down a bit, he starts to call out. "Linfar? Aug 6, 2019 9:12 pm
With the realization of freedom dawning upon her, Aglaophones shakes off the chains of despair that had been weighing her down. She becomes the embodiment of but one idea: to revenge herself upon Chainfist; to manifest the thousand curses she had uttered against his hated name.

In a blur of movement that those around her perceived as if in slow motion, Agla tore through the skeletons before her, clawed hands tearing at bone with insurmountable force, vile words spewing forth from her mouth. When not cursing skeletons to an eternal peace, Agla's words filled the hearts of those humans, vampires and other creatures around her with burning hopes of freedom exceeded only by fiery thoughts of revenge.

Reaching the cache of the detainees' equipment, Agla found that which was hers, quickly donning her leather armor, readying her rapier and crossbow. And, surrounded by a host of captives that moved as one vengeful body, she mounted the deck ready to fight.
Aug 7, 2019 3:45 am
Te'e'no grabs a longsword and shield. It's not the a nice Imperial blade like he's use to, but it's still sharp. From another fallen skeleton he acquires a chainmail shirt. Lastly, four javelins are lean against a corner, forgotten and unused. "Time to step back into the sun," he says to no one in particular. He makes his way through the chaos to the decks above.
Aug 7, 2019 4:04 am
Amongst the bustling crowds, Caprio tries to find his treasured weapon... His violin! Obviously nobody bothered to steal it, but as he attempts to test it out, the music causes either awe or annoyance to the other escapees. "Could do a little tuning..."

Tenoch, clutching his wounded arm stops in the forward hold to grab a spear that had been cast aside. His eyes flit over the lessened pile of packs and supplies that had belonged to the slaves and he spies his woven satchel. Wincing he slings it over his wounded shoulder and follows the crowd of fleeing slaves to the main deck.
Aug 7, 2019 1:07 pm
Jergen smiles a cold smile as he enters the equipment room. It takes a few moments, but he eventually locates his armor, weapons, and backpack.

With a practiced ease, Jergen slides into his armor and secures his weapons and gear. Walking out if the room, Jergen follows his fellow prisoners out onto the top deck.
Aug 7, 2019 11:19 pm
Finally freed from her chains, Lyra stretches languidly and dispatches the skeletons guarding her cell. She follows the stream of other prisoners to where she assumes they are grabbing their equipment. She finds her own gear, her fanged smile showing her pleasure at seeing her possessions unspoiled.
With her pack secured and her shortsword brandished, she charges with the others towards the deck of the ship, eager for revenge.
Aug 8, 2019 1:09 am

Agla, who knows Darastrix from her pirating adventures (although she's not sure if Darastrix will remember her), pulls Darastrix aside. "When Chainfist is dead, shall we not keep this ship? She fair flies over these waters. And we could make a pretty penny together". Alga holds out her clawed hand.
Aug 8, 2019 10:18 pm
&**(^% Chainfist is beyond us. Best we can do spoil him a ship. Arg and his curse will be no more. Appears she well set in her plans.
Aug 8, 2019 11:32 pm
Maybe burning a ship we are standing on is not the most prudent course of action
Sep 1, 2019 6:25 am
OOC:
I'll see if I can GM this. Since I don't have the stats of chainfist, I'll handle combat through cinematic, until I might pick one Stat block.
The escaping prisoners climbed up onto the fog covered deck. In front of them, the rest of the skeleton crew stand ready to confront them with their swords. Behind them, the infamous figure of Captain Chainfist stands forebodingly as a silhouette.
"I'm afraid this is where yar meet yah doom. Don't worry about dyin'. If I find yah can be a good pirate, I'll make yah join me crew..." His ghostly eyes looks at Darastix with intensity.
Sep 1, 2019 6:42 am
To the deep six with you Chainfist and all your bones. Darastrix will lead the other pirates in the attack. Chainfist can take that as a NO. Darastrix will take effort to also blast the skeleton next to Chainfist for added insult.
Sep 6, 2019 2:58 pm
Chainfist gives an unholy growl as he raises his chain-wrapped fist to signal for his loyal undead to throw themselves at the angry and terrified pirates.
Sep 12, 2019 8:34 pm
Darastix will lead off the pirates on the ship to stiffen up their moral against the skeletons. She will pick off a skeleton now and then with her blasts.
OOC:
Is anyone doing anything else?

OOC:
We still cinematic, right?
Agla takes to the air, and rains down bolts and curses upon the skeletons.
Sep 12, 2019 10:58 pm
OOC:
Cinematic was my guess. I didn't see a call for INIT.
Sep 13, 2019 5:23 am
The skeletons fell one by one under the wrath of the formidable escapees. A few of the frailer pirates were slain, and Chainfist reached out his hand to use his necrotic powers to raise them as zombies.
Sep 26, 2019 1:48 pm
Darastrix takes a mean shot at Chainfist with her force to disrupt him. She now has all her dear attention. Something most people probably wouldn't want.
Sep 26, 2019 4:10 pm
As Chainfist gets directly hassled by Darastix, his cold anger turns more fiery as he advances towards her, striking out with his chains like a whip, and with an axe that has been mucked with decades of dried blood.
Sep 26, 2019 4:15 pm
As the fight gets fiercer, the cowardly vampire decides to take the opportunity to abandon the ship by leaping into the water, but not before taking a bite of one of the escapees to reinvigorate himself.
OOC:
My character leaves the party so I won't control him as a dmpc.
Sep 26, 2019 4:51 pm
Darastrix watches as Chainfist clear away anything between her and him. Surely this would bring fright to anyone else, but Darastrix stand ready with just a baling pin she had picked up. As he smashes his way, she calls By all the deeps let a pirate's HEX curse be upon you.
OOC:
(She actually casted HEX on Chainfist)
She target him hard as he destroy all in his path.
OOC:
(She casts Eldritch Blast on him multiple times. Extra damage from Hex.)
She holds her ferocious stance as Chainfist is making his way to her. She knows if there was one person this who ship that he hated the most, it was her and it just makes her happy. Darastrix was never one to back down on anything. Her rep shows well now. Even with death on its way, she still manages to infer loyalty among a few of the pirates as they stand with her.

"Aarrgh! I cannot be defeated! May Davy Jones take you to his locker!" Chainfist curses as his ribs flew away from the barage of Eldritch Blasts. He still continues his assault while his crew and his undeath health withers away.
OOC:
I'll have Davy Jones be the Death God for pirates.
