Watching in horror as the creature wraps Coreene in a tentacle, Verrian spots something on the ground where her friend was just standing. It's Verrian's crossbow! She judges whether she can retrieve it without attracting the attention of the hunter.

Might as well risk it. I can't fight that thing up close. Verrian darts forward, grabs the crossbow, and backs away, fishing in a pocket for a bolt and loading it.

Swan shields his face with a raised arm, deflecting some of the explosive debris. His heart sinks woman Coreene is snatched, and all thought of tactics flees his mind.

Once the guards are surrounding the sick bed, Wil signals Previan.
Once he does whatever he is going to do, Wil yells.

Vesina, now. Try not to kill and do not hurt Brick.

Wil reaches into his boot to grab his dagger. First open chance he has to grab a rapier or second dagger, he will.

[ +- ] Initative Order
The hunter casually drops Coreene to the ground, completely disinterested in her despite the fact that she cast a spell. Luckily it's not far to fall, and isn't likely to cause any significant damage.
OOC:
Coreene, make an acrobatics roll to avoid going prone.
The hunter scans the people before it, until its attention falls on Elora. "There you are, my dear," it purrs in its curiously high-pitched voice. "Come over here, please."

Its tentacle-like arm lashes out toward Elora, seeking to wrap around her and pull her close.

Yelnar charges to the side of the creatures opposite his comrades, hoping to open up a flank for his comrades. He looks to chop with his Bardiche into one of the things tentaclendages, since these seem to be its favoured weapons.
OOC:
Given its a single creature we’re fighting at this stage, should be a max of 2 possible AoOs - one for moving, one for doing an action that provokes, so I won’t worry about rolling any more. Hiding results because I now know how to do that and its so suspenseful :p

Then she turns back toward the hunter and fires her crossbow.

Elora looks very uncomfortable now that the hunter has her immobilized. "P-p-please don't eat me!" She says clearly afraid, unable to focus on anything except the terrifying visage of this monstrous hunter. She tries to wriggle and writhe out of it's grip, but the gross tentacles are firm in their strength.

Coreene drops from the creature's grasp, and attempts to keep her feet underneath her. Hitting the ground with a roll and getting to her feet, she turns to see Elora in the creature's grasp. Her eyes widen in fear, before turning to a resolute scowl as a familiar rumbling takes place, and a being of earth and stone appears next to the creature. Pulling her Scythe from the loop on her back, she charges in with her elemental ally, planning to put this abomination down.

78RPMLife sent a note to somebox
Yelnar rushes in, his tactical knowledge putting him in an excellent position to flank the hunter along with Coreene and her elemental ally. The hunter is remarkably agile, even holding on to Elora in its tentacles, and somehow... flows out of the way of Yelnar's bardiche. In the darkness, you could swear that it actually changes its shape to avoid the blow. However, that puts it immediately in the way of the elemental's fist, which plows into the hunter's torso. Your foe lets out a strangely mechanical-sounding squeal as the blow lands. Verrian's crossbow bolt and Swan's arrow both sail wide of their target.

78RPMLife sent a note to Moonbeam
Ember's animal-like howl of fury catches the hunter's attention, its head jerking around to face the girl lobbing magic missiles at it. Both missiles strike the hunter, but as they do, the mottled black pattern on its skin takes on a faint glow, and there seems to be no lasting effect. "You too? Oh, little lamb, I knew there was another... don't go far, love," it says in response.

The tentacle encircling Elora constricts, tightening around her chest. The other tentacle-arm retracts and swings at the elemental with disturbing speed.
OOC:
The hunter has taken its turn in round 2. Going to post for the resistance folks, and then the party will be up in any order.

Seeing the creature that impaled Erannik sends Eanala into a rage. She rips her rapier from its sheath and lets out a scream as she charges toward the hunter, slashing at it furiously.

Giran yells out, "No! I'm not running!", though who he's arguing with isn't immediately clear. The young man draws a short sword and dagger and runs in after Eanala. He's too far away to get within attacking range this round, however.

As Eanala rushes in, Livia cries, "Giran, no!" Cursing under her breath, she lays Erannik's body down as gently as she can without sacrificing speed. She fumbles for her weapon, a heavy mace, and moves forward alongside her nephew. She too remains too far away to engage the hunter.

Eanala's fervor lends her a frightening power, and her rapier slashes across the hunter's chest, opening a bloodless gash in its skin. It makes the same squeal it did as the elemental attacked.

Rolls

Eanala attack and damage - (1d20+6, 1d6+4)

1d20+6 : (19) + 6 = 25

1d6+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

Cursing as her bolt misses the hunter, Verrian realizes that something about this creature seems familiar. But the thought is pushed aside when the hunter both tightens its grip on Elora and pays attention to Ember.

She tosses the crossbow clear and draws her rapier, moving into position to flank the creature with Coreene's elemental. With her other hand, she pulls a dagger free from her belt and attacks.

Rolls

Rapier attack (Two Handed feat) - (1d20+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

Rapier damage (includes Sneak Attack) - (3d6+2)

(141) + 2 = 8

I'm better than this.... Ember hisses, flinging another pair of red missiles at the Hunter. There's no way they can miss. She must not be concentrating hard enough. And Elora's struggle is not going well.

Before she even sees the results of her spell, she stands with her arms out wide.

Hey! she screams. Let her go! I'm the one you want! The tastiest little Chickie in the entire group and you know it!

Rolls

Magic Missile Damage + song, 1d4+2 each - (2d4+4)

(34) + 4 = 11

Spell resistance - (1d20+3)

(10) + 3 = 13

Intimidate / Provoke - (1d20+8)

(17) + 8 = 25

Nov 7, 2019 6:34 pm
Anyone within melee range starts to feel a creeping chill emanating from the hunter. It gets stronger as Ember's magic missiles strike the hunter and fail to have any noticeable effect. Once again, they connect with the hunter, but are absorbed into the thing's skin, making the black patches glow with faint, ghostly light.

Machiabelly says:
Once the guards are surrounding the sick bed, Wil signals Previan.
Once he does whatever he is going to do, Wil yells.

Vesina, now. Try not to kill and do not hurt Brick.

Wil reaches into his boot to grab his dagger. First open chance he has to grab a rapier or second dagger, he will.
One of the guards reaches a hand out to take Previan's arm.

"DO NOT TOUCH ME!" Previan roars in response, red-flecked spittle flying from his lips. That gets the attention of the guards. The others nearby move in, ready to help their comrade with this suddenly unruly guest.

And then it happens.

You can hear it just before you see it, a sudden rush of sound followed by an explosion of fire centered on Previan's cot that expands out in a ball of flame that blows the nearby wall outward in a shower of splinters and sends a column of flames through the ceiling. Previan's end of the warehouse catches on fire, burning with a violently intense heat. Two of the guards that were approaching Previan stagger from the explosion wreathed in flames, and fall to the ground unmoving. The other four guards that were nearby are nowhere to be seen.

Some of the guards at Wil's end of the warehouse start to move forward woodenly, faces pale with shock at what's suddenly transpired. Brick reaches out and gives Wil a rough tap on the shoulder and nods toward the warehouse exit behind him.
Nov 7, 2019 7:07 pm
May all the Gods forgive us.

Wil signals everyone to move to the exit that Brick pointed out.

He keeps his voice low but urgent.

Everyone, let's go. Help the weaker ones if they need it. If you have magic, save it unless you are being attacked.

Wil helps the stragglers while keeping his dagger at hand.

"No no no!" Elora becomes frantic, writhing and wiggling in the hunter's tentacles. It's not escape however, instead to pull out her rapier, which she thrusts into the hunter's face.

Rolls

Rapier - (1d20+4, 1d6)

1d20+4 : (3) + 4 = 7

1d6 : (4) = 4

For the rest of the party

In the distance, maybe a half-mile away, you hear an explosion and see a massive column of flames burst into the sky from somewhere on the ground.
