003 - Delve 1 - Beyond the Door

Lieria curses their bad luck and ducks as far down as possible, too concerned with their immediate well being to bother and try to study these creatures. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a few green seeds about the size of acorns, squeezing them tightly in her hand. The seeds have turned from green to a bright red. "I have prepared some emergency medicine!"

As the creatures release their second volley of arrows, Nym musters his courage and leans over the side of the boat to better see their attackers. They’re difficult to make out at this distance- just shadowy shapes darting among the rocks and rubble up ahead- but he selects one as a target and tosses an eldritch blast at it.

Calvas draws his wand and points it at the creature that Nym didn't attack. He summons the same brownish cloud that he used on the frogman earlier and flings it at a point beside the creature, hoping that he will hit the ducked away monster too.

Seeing the rest of the group prepping and attacking he makes a battle time decision and slows the boat to stop attempting to give the group time to think.

The first arrow narrowly missed Ishmee's face. The jagged barb of the arrow tip sliced through her ear, cutting it nearly in half. Her blood sprayed all over Alissia and Nym who were sitting behind her.

"Don't stop here in range of their bows!" Ishmee yelled. "Back it up or go forward!"

She threw down her oar and grabbed up her bow. Just as she readied an arrow of her own, another of the black arrows flew out of the darkness and sank deep into her thigh.

Ishmee screamed and loosed her arrow. The shot went wide and skidded off the stones and into the water.

Alissia tried to be helpful, raising her crossbow randomly at where the creatures had been, shooting before quickly putting her hands back on the boat so she didn't fall off

"Back us up," Ishmee said. "They might come back and start shooting again."

She sank down into the bottom of the boat and put her leg up onto the bench. The arrow had punched through her mail skirt and into her thigh. The arrow tip was sticking out the other side of her leg. Blood was running down the side of her face from the split in her ear.

"I'm going to need a nap after this," she said. She reached down and snapped the arrow head off the arrow. Then she tied her belt around her leg before yanking the arrow shaft out.

"What were those creatures? Different." She scans the perimeter for any sign of those crimson eyes. Satisfied she turns back to the others, reminding her of Ishmee's current condition.

"Ishmee are you- oh." Lieria watches Ishmee pull out the arrow with grotesque fascination. She holds out her goodberries. "I...think you should have one, or more even."

Nym keeps his eyes on the place where the creatures vanished, readying another eldritch blast in case they return. "Shouldn’t we go deal with the one that Calvas put to sleep?" He glances at Calvas. "How long until it wakes up?"

Vinny begins to push the boat forward towards the stairs that led up to the ledge, assuming that was the next best step. He's unusually quite as unbeknownst to the group he is chastising himself for stopping the boat, giving the enemy an easy target and getting one of his friends shot.

Alissia holds up her crossbow in case she sees anything to shoot at "Um...guys, do you think they are gone or do you think they'll stay there?"

"It was an ambush," Ishmee said as she stuffed berries into her mouth. "Those were sentries. They are probably calling up reinforcements now.

The magical berries immediately staunched the flow of blood from Ishmee’s face and leg. "Thanks," she said to Lieria. Then to the others, "We’re sitting ducks here. If they start shooting again, we’ve got nowhere to go and very little way to fight back."

Ouch... that...hurts Calvas says in a nearly fascinated tone.
He can now only make minor illusions and other harmless actions with his wand so he draws his crossbow and loads it with a bolt
He aims it in the direction from where the last arrow came and is ready to shoot

Nym is prepared for the creatures’ return and the moment they reappear, he releases an eldritch blast at whichever one is closest to him.

"I can't hit them from here." Lieria sounds a bit worried, crouching low to try and keep from being an easy target. She grabs an oar and asks for guidance. "Which way guys?"

Ishmee what do you suggest? Calvas calls in response to Lieria's question
He shoots at the same enemy that Nym dhot at but his shot goes wide
