The House of Tamer is passed down among the tribes with a mixture of fantastic stories and mythological events, but the royal records suggest that it has its roots in the Great Tribal Uprising, which saw the savage and violent clans of the Headlands mountain band together under the guidance of the Great Council of Elders to claim the old lands back from the Covenant. But not for long... The wars were fought mostly on the wild mountains and peaks, with very little danger to the Crown lands, as warring tribes shifted allegiances like the cold winds change direction. In the end, the Uprising became more of a civil war than an actual uprising.
From the chaos of the wars came the Clan of the White Bear, which lead a successful campaign of conquest, subjugating many minor tribes. Their proximity to the Crown lands disrupted the status quo and threatened the Realm. The noble houses decided to intervene hoping to secure their positions and tensions rose. In a fateful moment, Brorkmus the Tamer, the legendary chieftain make a decision: ambush the royal army. This tactic was so surprising coming from the mountain tribes that it results in the complete destruction of the royal forces, and with it, the fall of the Counts of Mountain Pass, seeing the tribes under Brorkmus' rule settling on the borderlands. Difficult negotiations followed, which saw the Clan of the White Bear allying with the royal houses, ultimately keeping the Scymira safe from the raiding wild warriors. With their Northern borders secured, the wild nomads marched back to tame the headlands. With the Great Council of Elders split by the long civil war, the clan's growing power and war glories provided the required influence to rebuild it, slowly bringing one elder after another together. Those you refused were ultimately defeated and the tribes settled with an uneasy peace under the rule of the new Council of Tribes. Kings were removed and war-chiefs were subjugated to the elders, who were chosen each new ascending sun from which each tribe to settle tribal disputes (peacefully or by duel), set the laws of the people and appoint the new leaders for the year.

Their culture being based on acts of bravery and warrior prowess, the start of the Bloody Year proved to be essential to maintain the fragile peace enforced by the Council of the Tribes. The long raging war in the Eastreach provided the opportunity of the tribes to keep their warrior caste busy not fighting each other. Tribal warriors were hired as mercenaries, promised riches for their services and armies organised and sent north. Besides the many riches brought back from the war, the royal house of Scymira rewarded many tribesmen with the title of nobility due to the fundamental role of played by the Drarn, war chief of the Undying Tree, who foresaw the disappearance of House Sol and exploited the resulting weakness of the rebellion, masterfully using the information to gain a crushing victory for the royal armies.

The trade port of Fishersbay was established and with it, Temple of Revelation saw some success into the Headlands due to their appealing faith of primal forces which resonated well with the nomadic tribes.

Even though the Headlands remain a dangerous and savage place to this day, other Houses had the opportunity to move into the Headlands with relative safety and extend the influence of the realm into this inhospitable land. New alliances were made, trade routes were explored and conflicts were inevitable. With the rise of the fishermen from Stormwrack as the powerful naval Kraken Society, the House of Tamer saw an opportunity to expand their trade to the west sea, but met with strong opposition by the strongly established monopoly of House Maa-Talia and the exclusive supply of etherite by House Fugue.
As the Kraken Society moved against House Maa-Talia to claim full control of the Stormwrack islands, the House of Tamer tried to struggle some of the trade route from House Fugue's control. Complex politics between the various houses of the realm and rare interventions from the royal court prevented this conflict from blowing into a full war, giving it particular contours beyond the initially expected one side versus another. House of Tamer actually aided House Maa-Talia re-direct their trade routes and recover from their war losses against the Kraken Society, leading to the expansion of Maa-Talia's trade further inland. This in turn fired-back, as it allowed House Fugue's etherite to flow further than ever, as Maa-Talia gained the rights to trade it, leading to the current tension between the House of Tamer and House Fugue, as the tribesmen's addition to etherite becomes a noticeable problem throughout the Headlands.

It was in this new order, where Northerner Houses ventured into the Headlands and the tribesmen trades their good through sea and land due to the relative safety imposed by the Council of the Tribes, that the House of Tamer really had their golden chance. Legend has it that, guided by the spirits of the land themselves, the rulers of the Covenant found evidence that their ancestors came from the Headland tribes. The third born son was as the savage people, recognisably touched by an animal spirit.Being an establish House, the Tamers were given lands at the hearth of the Crown lands as caretakers of the prince. Even though this was mostly to hide the child from the court, it provided the chance to enter the royal politics. However, the unconfirmed scandal of the support provided by the Clan of the Wild Cat to the House Revelos in their strange rituals, quickly resulted in various plots and schemes targeting that branch of the House of Tamer who, to keep the prince safe, found allies in the isolated House of Sharva by marriage. The Astrals was the perfect place to keep the secret away from the court intrigues...

[ +- ] Origin of House Fugue
A long time ago, a noble family from the Headlands was threatened by disease. They sent their oldest son, Kyle Fugue, to the Gaplands in order to protect him from the disease. While the noble family succumbed to the disease, Kyle discovered, and partook, in etherite, to the point of self destruction. Kyle's son, Erik Fugue, seeing his father's addiction, saw the potential for etherite in the market, and quietly used what wealth he could scrounge up to acquire as much etherite rich land as possible. Setting up the mines, Erik Fugue began the etherite business, and House Fugue was born.
[ +- ] Etherite
House Fugue's main industry is the mining of etherite, a mysterious substance that is usually used as a drug. As such, they tend to expand wherever veins of etherite lead, and their settlements tend to have mining as their core economic focus. Some time ago, House Fugue discovered that etherite could be used to control the weather, given a lengthy bathing ritual in a giant bath in the shape of the appropriate rune. The mining of etherite is dangerous, due to its unpredictable properties, and thus, miners sometimes rebel. If the rebellion is particularly fierce, mercenaries such as Kraken Society may be called in to aid in the conflict.
[ +- ] Toppling a Rival and an Alliance with Maa-Talia
Recently, a rival NPC house was suspected to be planning a raid on House Fugue's etherite mines. House Fugue struck a deal with House Maa-talia, in which House Maa-talia would help overthrow the rival house, in exchange for knowledge on how to harness etherite's magical properties. The rival house was destroyed, but there are still remnants of their family left.
[ +- ] Relationship with House Tamer
House of Tamer has a strained relationship with House Fugue. An increasing number of their people are addicted to etherite, and House Fugue's monopoly on the substance has stymied House of Tamer's efforts at controlling trade routes.

[ +- ] The Rise of House Sol
Not so long ago, a particularly powerful band of brigand established their presence in the Eastreach, they beat the local forces repeatedly and even overcame the lord's castle. The populace was scared and it seemed like nothing could stop the bandits. That is until one faithful morning where the city woke up to see the flag of the Sol family above the castle. This unexpected victory by such an unknown House was the talk of both the Court and the people of Eastreach for a while. The people of Eastreach view House Sol as heroes and a royal decree was made to give them the position of Protectors of Eastreach and they replaced the former House controlling the region.
[ +- ] Forgotten past
Some of the older Houses remember House Sol from long ago. They were the descendant of a great General from way before Bloody year, and had been one of the reason of the long-standing independence of the collection of Eastreach kingdoms in the past. For some reason, they were nowhere to be seen when the Bloody War happened and have been believed to be destroyed like the others independent families.
[ +- ] Meritocracy
One of the reason of House popularity with the masses is their reputation of allowing equal opportunity regardless of status and gender. Commoners and even women are said to be able to rise the ranks if they have the skills and discipline. The current head of House Sol, Vista Sol, a charismatic woman in her early 30s, as become the figurehead of this philosophy. According to the stories, she was forced to live as a servant of a more important house and now she rules over the whole region.

The greatest treasure of House Sol is without a doubt the Scrolls of Sol, a compilation of written wisdom from their ancestors. Few outside of the family are allowed to read the Scrolls and every copies a preciously guarded.
[ +- ] Unknown ambitions
House Sol position as a power in the Eastreach is still new and their effort up to now have been mostly turned toward developing their territory and establishing cordial diplomatic relationship with other Houses. Nobody know if they will be satisfied with their position or if they'll grow into greater ambition but, for now, many eyes are looking at them.

Blue skin, originating from the "Argyrian Strain" disease, is prestigious because it indicated their relatives ventured out into the world and were survivors.
Pursuit of adventure, prestige, status and wealth from fair trade are important values.

Her mother died during her birth, but with the help of her Grandmother and their small trading business they she survived. Gifted with many qualities, including an ability to learn fast, a strong and athletic physique, and a charisma to befriend and deal with anyone, she took over and expanded the business into a large trading empire. Once her empire was established and running smoothly she went on a personal adventure into the northern wilds. When she returned she was pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter, who grew-up under the tutelage of her great-grandmother and Talia together and eventually undertook a similar journey. When Talia's grand-daughter was born, Talia retired and gave leadership of the house to her daughter. This tradition continued for a surprising number of generations. Although, it could not continue forever, it rooted the custom of a matriarchal lineage within the house, which is still adhered to today. Over the centuries, House Maa-Talia became so wealthy that they expanded their control into the Crown Lands of Scymira where they quickly grew in status and political influence throughout the kingdom to match the prestige of their wealthy trading empire.
Maa-Talia becomes Noble House:
After building their status for years, the upcoming heir of Maa-Talia seduced the King to bring back a child and heir to House Maa-Talia. Knowing Maa-Talia now has royal blood in their line, the King raises Maa-Talia to a noble house.

Lose Claim to the Throne:
Maa-Talia tries to claim the throne because of their lineage to a previous king, but when magic is used to reveal the true history of their bloodline, it's revealed that the line of Maa-Talia does not have royal blood. Maa-Talia's status at this point to too high to remove them as a noble house, but they do not ascend to the throne and lose status among the kingdom. Their royal legion is taken away from them.
The Rise of Kraken Society:
At this point in history, Maa-Talia's trade empire runs around the entire coast of Scymira with a monopoly on seafaring and trade when the Kraken Society discover Thunder weapons and take control of the sea. Maa-Talia are able to learn and develop strategies to counter the Thunder weapons but not before losing their eastern outposts and much of their fleet.
The Plague from House Bodaway
While brokering a deal involving the transport of livestock from House Bodaway to House Sharva, Maa-Talia catches a black plague, presumably from Bodaway. Upon arrival, Sharva refuses the shipment and closes its broaders leaving Maa-Talia with the bill. Attempting to return the livestock Bodaway refuses, creating a new tension between previous allies.
The Re-establishment of an Eastern Trading Post
With the help of House Tamer's military power, House Maa-Talia establishes an eastern trade route through the Kraken blockade into the Headlands. Allowing for Tamer to open trade with the west again.

Forged a trade route across land to the Blight to form a trade deal with Revelos, but Argyrian disease lead to the abandonment of the route and souring of relations with Revelos. House Maa-Talia believed the disease originated from Revelos. The disease turns the victims blue and cause organ failure, and survivors may still carry the pigment of dull blue skin, even passing it on to new generations. In Maa-Talia, although initially a sign of danger, the blue skin became a sign of prestige because it indicated their relatives ventured out into the world and returned as survivors.

A powerful NPC mining house in beginning to infringe on House Fugue's Etherite monopoly. In return, Fugue teaches Maa-Talia the secret behind Etherite. It can be used to predict and even control the weather giving House Maa-Talia the abiltiy to optimize their trade routes across the continent.

Maa-Talia: They have formed a trade hub with Revelos. They are also infected by the the Blue Strain/Argyrian Plague, so some suspect they brought the plague over.

Architecture is very simple European medieval styled with hints of oriental. Forts and stone walls are a common sight within the region. The northern Wall is the most sieged, and so construction efforts and military is most dense there. The capital city is located near the river's branch, where the castle of the Royal family sits. Nearby, a huge temple in worship of the Great One is exists amongst other smaller ones.

House Sharva is an ancient and very proud noble house originating in the most inhospitable parts of the Astrals. They are a generally reclusive house with bursts of expansion and strengthening always followed by long periods of stagnation and isolation. Currently, they are getting more involved in the proceedings in the realm and recent dealings have made them an important political player but already, there are internal forces inside the House attempting to steer it away from the Crown Lands and back to focusing solely on their own homelands again.
[ +- ] Founding: Ascent
There are no clear records of House Sharva's founding. The legend of how the house came into being is that an ancient king traveled into the Astrals and fell in love with an extraordinarily beautiful peasant girl, the eponymous Sharva. He gave her lands, riches and titles, raising her into nobility so he could marry her. In mockery of the king's wishes, she rejected him but kept all his gifts, her family now a powerful entity in the realm.

House Sharva's arrogance and pride resulted in stagnation as they refused to trade or participate in affairs outside their homelands. Over a couple of generations, the house lost a lot of its influence and some of the favor they earned in the past was forgotten.

After an era of stagnation, the new head of the House decided to extend his influence again. By helping another noble house strike down a peasant uprising in their lands, House Sharva gained recognition once more and began to return to its former glory.

A military strike against a lesser House in the Astrals resulted in a large expansion of territory and influence for House Sharva. This is when they conquered what is now their second home city

Disagreements between different branches of the family lead to instability and again, House Sharva turned inside, ignoring the outside and again slowly losing a lot of the power and influence it had earned outside of its homeland in the Astrals. This time, this period lasted even longer and by the end of it, many doubted that the house would ever return to its full power.

Seeing the waning power of the ancient House, another House decided to make its move and attack them. They underestimated the impressive defensive capabilities of the noble family's cities however and after their siege was broken, House Sharva took the fighting to their enemies, defeating them and using the spoils of war to return back to relevancy once again.

Due to its isolationist tendencies, House Sharva does not have many close allies. However, very recently, they managed to secure a very profitable alliance. A political marriage sealed the pact between Houses Tamer and Sharva and secured not only a fresh new influx of trade goods and an increase in political power but also provided House Sharva with a foothold in the Crown Lands for the first time in history. While expanding so far away from the family's homelands has proven to be a divisive choice, it has definitely put the reclusive House into the eye of many other families that until then dismissed the House and its influence in the political landscape beyond the Astrals.

House Bodaway is a very nomadic House, built around the movements of their herds of horses and cattle. Their winter pastures are located by the sea on the westernmost portions of their lands and they move/follow the herds to the sring and summer pastures further inland in the Gaplands. They have established several watchtowers along the route but their only real fortification is Bodaway Keep which sits on a low rise with high walls and can accommodate every member of the house and most of their prized breeding stock.

Council members are listed by age followed by the Stewart and the Deputy. Elder Akecheta is by far the oldest of the council members but is still the most imposing physically of any of the members. He is a bear of a man which makes people underestimate how quick witted he is. Elder Miakoda is the only women to sit on the council and she prefers to manipulate the other members of the council from behind the scenes instead of open confrontation in council meetings. Elder Teetonka is the boisterous buffoon, he is the least liked member of the council due to his inability to stop talking. The youngest member of the council is perhaps the wisest of the members, Elder Howahkan is fairly average in most aspects but he has a way with animals that every other member of the house envies.

House Bodaway's fighting style is very similar to how they live their lives. The are almost always mounted, and lightly armored. They dislike pitched battles, preferring to harry their opponents to exhaustion. A horse bow is their preferred weapon but spears or tomahawks are also common. They also bring packs of dogs that they strap leather armor to in times of conflict to disrupt ground troops

The Kraken Society is lead by 8 High Lord of the Seas. Everybody doing their part has a chance to rise. Slaves can buy their freedom after a few years of servitude and become civilians. And civilians can become citizens after a few years of service in the navy/military. Thus making sure they always have mercenaries available.

The Kraken Society trades in everything, buying from one House and selling to others. They also offer their services as transport (for goods or people), mercenaries and can even sell or rent slaves.

Thanks to Maa-Talia, some of the secrets of the Thunder weapons have been leaked. But the manufacturing of those weapons is still a trade secret of the Kraken Society and they do not plan in trading or selling them.

Okay, so here we go. Keep in mind, that during each turn, you can choose to roll for an event, or gain 5 wealth. You can gain wealth twice before you MUST roll for an event. You need to narrate how the change effects your house.In addition, I'm going to list a few major events that happen in Scymira. You can post your responses to as many of them as you like. Your responses may illicit new responses from me or from other players. There's no limit to this for now; depending on how things go I might limit it to say three rounds or so. Once you've done everything you feel that you need or want to do, post 'ready' again in the ready thread. You can delete your post if a new post warrants a response on your part.
This is important: You want to respond to my events for your own sake. They will start off small, but if the NPC houses get their way, it won't be to your benefit. I may also throw out small stat adjustments for interesting RP.
EDIT: One last note. If you want to directly interact with an NPC house, it'll be just like any other RPG, give me your post, I'll give you a reaction. If there's a lot of dialogue, I may try to get with you in Discord to speed it up.
In the south, House Mytheas has reported seeing large creatures in their normal fishing grounds, and has lost two ships to them already since autumn.
On the western front, House Gasharde has recently been buying up as much of the ship repair market as they can, and it is becoming nearly impossible to avoid dealing with them. Is this a good thing, or bad?
House Ala has been showing interest in Osberg. There's talk of a possible alliance and maybe even a marriage union.
House Zubech has started either charging ships a passage toll, or harassing free shipping line, depending on which side of the argument you're on.

Troubadour and bard are heard around the lands, announcing the Festival of the Blaze, hosted by House Sol in the Eastreach during the week of the Inheritance. The festival commemorates the freedom from the bandits that had terrorized the region when they burned away in the castle they had stolen. People from all arounds the lands are invited to come the the festival, they are to leave a symbol of the past they want to leave behind and a prayer for the future, into the massive prepared bonfire that will be set ablaze as the highlight of the Festival. House Sol spare no expense to ensure the success of the festivities.
Using the first installment of the new Festival as an excuse, House Sol send ambassadors to many Houses to invite them to a special banquet during the festival. Notably Houses Irave, Namelle, Osmaa, Kraken Society, Revelos, Tamer receives those personal invitations (and some more who shown disinterests toward the Royal banquet).

House Revelos was able to rally its Paladin Order to fight back the neighbouring Orcs. They are successful in defeating an Orc camp, which earns them more land to safely expand into.

Osberg has the same role as Revelos of being a defense line, but that which stands if Revelos were to fall from the Orc Hordes or other similar threats. Due to this, slight resentment is felt towards them, and a desire to make it a competition to defeat the most enemies is common.

House Revelos is getting less outgoing than it was in the past. However, out of respect for maintaining good relations, they would send a representative for them. Duke Gramman Revelos goes to the festival for a breath of new air, and attempts to socialise for business and "entertainment" away from his wife.

When news break about some large creatures being spotted that are apparently able to destroy ships, House Sharva is not interested in investigating this any further. They do not travel by ship so this news does not appear to affect them. Let someone else deal with it.

The rumors about a potential alliance or marriage between Houses Ala and Osberg raise more suspicion in House Sharva. While both Houses' lands are very far away from Sharva's homelands, High Lord Oslan of House Sharva sends a small delegation to House Osberg to find out what the reasons behind this union might be and to offer their assistance if needed. Goal of this delegation is to find out why Ala is pushing for this alliance, what Osberg would get out of it and whether it is in Sharva's interest to try and oppose it or to help it along.
High Lord Oslan Sharva publicly states that House Sharva will not attend the royal banquet but his nephew, Lord of the Planes Delios Sharva, the head of House Sharva's lands in the Crownlands, decides to defy this decision and travels to Bromgarten with his wife, Ris, formerly of the Wild Cat Tribe of House Tamer, anyway to attempt to attend the banquet and solidify his position in the Crownlands and as the more open arm of House Sharva. He also hopes to meet representatives of House Zubech there. While the shipping tolls do not affect Sharva directly, he is interested in finding out why Zubech is suddenly starting to charge a toll.At the same time, a small conflict broke out at the border between the lands of Sharva and Sellelanar with both attempting to tax the same village. Sharva sent a small group of soldiers there to defend their claim if necessary but it never came to an actual fight as the mayor of the village sided with Sharva and Sellelanar gave up on this minor claim rather than risk a war over it.
The mayor was honored for his wise decision and granted a small reward from Sharva to reward his loyalty.

I'll just take the 5 wealth, turning it into 40 wealth.The head of Fugue, Erik Fugue, decides to attend the royal banquet, along with his daughter, Maria Fugue. The overall attitude that the Fugue household takes is that going to the banquet is worth it. The risk and cost of going is low, while the potential benefit is high. Even if they are rejected, then it is of no loss to them.
Fugue is not very pleased at Gasharde's attempt at gaining a monopoly on the ship repair business. A bit ironic, considering the monopoly on the etherite trade, but as they say, thieves worry about other thieves. They'll attempt an alliance with nearby trade empire Maa-talia, who would share a mutual interest in prevent such a monopoly.
Fugue is currently watching the Ala-Osberg relations very closely, sending spies to gather information, and to verify the rumors. Individually, those houses are not much to worry about, but when combined, it could disturb the balance of power in Scymira. This would be particularly pertinent to Fugue, as they're the closest house to the area. If this were to be true, then Fugue would need to consider what actions to take.

Rumored Ala-Osberg Alliance - It is not uncommon for young Maa-Talians using their fine arts of seduction and courting at these important events, but they have been encouraged to seek out relationships with young Ala and Osberg courtiers in order to disrupt any possible marriages between Ala and Osberg in order to avoid the strengthen of their rumored alliance.
Gasharde - Maa-Talia is worried about a ship repair monopoly given that much of their trading empire relies on ships. Claudia herself approaches the representatives of Gasharde to purchase half their shipyards at a fair price. If negotiations do not go well, she emphasizes that her deal is the best option for Gasharde's future.
Zubech - Maa-Talia has been accepting the "tolls" imposed by Zubech without any complaint and passing those expenses onto the prices of goods traveling between the Headlands and the West. This has decreased trading volume, which is not ideal. They have explained the reason for these prices increases to House Tamer. They will also emphasize with the Royal family and the other high powered houses at the Royal Ascension that given that Zubech is charging for passage by sea, it is their responsibility to deal with safety in the sea, thus they should deal with the large beasts causing problems near Mytheas. In the meantime, Maa-Talia is avoiding those waters as best they can and have invested in better defense and power for their vessels (Defense and Power bump in stats).
Sol Festival - Claudia, regrets that she cannot attend the Festival of Blaze personally, but given their increasing family size (Population bump) is able to send a contingent of trusted family members to represent Maa-Talia at what appears to be an important event in Scymira. She appoints her older brother's daughter, Tonia, as the head of the party. They bring three significant items:
1) a symbol of the past: A wooden carving of a coin with a ship on the face and a saw and hammer crossed upon it, a symbol of Maa-Talia's reliance on shipbuilding and repairs from other houses.
2) a prayer: written on a sealed scroll to be cast into the blaze.
3) a gift to House Sol for throwing the festival: an amber sculpture of two suns above a relief of Scymira, the eastern rising sun, representing House Sol, and the western setting sun, representing House Maa-Talia. When the sunlight passes through the amber suns, the words "Prosper Together" alight on the relief.

House Bodaway’s members are in great spirits as they attend the Royal banquet as it was announced that Elder Akecheta son is to marry the eldest daughter of house Zubech. With this alliance Zubech will receive several pairs of Bodaway’s famed brood mares and the daughter will be accompanied to Bodaway Keep with a hefty dowry that includes a new method to fashion barding for horses. This new armor is surprisingly light and allows Bodaway’s cavalry a significant improvement in the field.
Stewart Dakota remains at the Keep managing the preparations for the drive up to the spring and summer pastures and upon receipt of the invitation to the Festival of Flame dispatches Deputy Chenoa and a troop of calvary to attend.
The dealings of House Mytheas and Gasharde have little impact on House Bodaway since they have almost no Navy to speak of.

Kraken Society: How many dice worth of ships are you sending to the ocean? This is important for two reasons: 1) How likely you are to see anything, and 2) what will happen if you have to fight it.
