Emberskyes says:
Tarquin can use the rope to put the spikes back in the wall, then we can look for the safest way down from the top and bottom. Unless one of you would prefer to go down first.[/color]"
"That sounds like a good plan," says Tarquin, as he accepts the pitons. He puts them in a belt pouch, and prepares to defend the rope after Mara.

OOC:
@GM, yea, I think that is the plan as it stands and what we plan to do.
That works for me as well, let us make haste to catch up to this elusive woman. We need to ensure that she doesn't slip through our fingers. Larkin will keep an eye on the progress as the others begin their descent downward. Once it is his turn, he will carefully make his way down the slope, using the ropes to full benefit.
Mar 9, 2020 3:03 pm
Mara finishes tying the rope about her waist, grabs ahold an arm length away and takes a deep breath. "Wish me luck, pray that the brightness will not come upon me just yet."

She holds her and out to Larkin, "Next shiny rock please."

With that she grabs the hilt of her sword, and closes her eyes. The jewel on the pommel of the blade crackles and sparks a moment as her hair begins to swirl in response to a breeze none of you can feel. She opens her eyes, takes a few steps back and then runs and jumps across the slippery part, instead of falling into the muck a small disk of dust materializes under her feet and she drifts over the precipice and out of sight.

Mara tries to drop close to the wall looking for how the thief got down as she descends and when she can see it looking for a safe place to land at the bottom.
OOC:
Still not a single dice roll over 10... Jez.

Larkin will oblige and cast light on the rock, and say "Good luck, yell if you get into trouble."

GM: The way down for Mara is a smooth glide. The air changes from cool to slightly chilly. Only one wall has the occasional anchor point, showing the progress the thief had made. As you drift down with the speed of feather fall, you notice the tilt of the ground and where the tiny stream flows. The area under the "bendy Zan" (*Heh heh) last piton hole is dry. Through your foresight you avoided the slick mud stones leading to the pit.

Tarquin, Climbs down quickly with Logrith lowering him. The occasional pause as Tarquin Stabs a piton into the hole used by the thief and Rolls his wrist to anchor the pitons permanently. Running the rope through climbing carabiners attached to the pitons, changes the 90 foot climb into several 10ft climbs. At the bottom Tarquin sets the safety line to prevent any accidental slipping...

Larkin uses the ropes, pitons, and Logrith's might to get down.

The three of you cross the tilted slick area to the corner. Tarquin peers carefully around the corner and doesn't See any traps thus far. However, at the end of the passage, there are WOODEN Stairs to a Wood Deck. Lanterns hang from vertical wood beams providing light.

Logrith rides White-Claw down. All of you return to your marching order/combat formation.

As all of you get closer to the wooden stairs You notice that mold, lichen, and very small stunted plants grow in small clumps down here. Tiny beetles, Sand flies, and teeny-tiny spiders live here. A glance down into a fissure reveals something that seems impossible in such dark depths; Trees. With closer study and a look into the occasional low fissures against the wall. The "trees" are petrified and could very well be as old as the world above.

The wood platform resembles Docks as it is supported on pillars. It is level and supported over uneven rocks, mounds, fissures, and MASSIVE natural quartz crystals. Crystal pillars rise up through sections here and there. A number of buildings linked by corridors, stairs, rope bridges, sit at different levels.
In the distance the sounds of massive wood cogs turning, the hint of Forge smoke, and the faint clink of chain. https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/HGPA_ukb9mT6ILoZgAP9U7yDwno=/768x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Cristales_cueva_de_Naica-5b02f60bc064710036fefd38.JPG

White Claw gets down on all fours and makes a low growl meaning Hop on! Logrith secures his weapons and grabs handfuls of fur, climbing up on the bear. The two easily make the descent and head towards the wooden stairs.

GM: Three doors, which way dost thou stomp?
Mar 9, 2020 7:39 pm
Tarquin moves quietly up the stairs. At the top of the platform, he searches for tracks, mainly the thief's tracks.

Rolls

Move stealthily - (1d20+12)

(10) + 12 = 22

Search for tracks (perception) - (1d20+13)

(1) + 13 = 14

OOC:
GM: Roll results and narration, there is some dirt or mud up here. (*GM to Self: I mean, yeah... its right next to a muddy path!)
Yes. There are tracks. most seem to head left. It is difficult to distinguish who is who. The thief may have gone left.
OOC:
GM: you do not see any traps... yet.

OOC:
I watched a Nat Geo or a Nova on those crystal caves, it’s so hot in there the cavers have to wear special suits and they can’t stay very long or the heat will kill them.
Mara looks about the cavern in amazement, she glances over at Logrith, "Is there a dwarven city near here? I mean someone is clearly living down here."

Making her way to the platform with the three doors, "Perhaps during the Earthfall this place fell down here and was lost."

REALIST says:
The Stairway.
Plus to the left... A tool shed. 16 Picks, 16 sledge hammers, 5 two-person Saws, 18 hammers, 8 hand-drills, 18 plane shavers, 20 sander blocks. A wood lathe to make pegs (wood "nails"), or hafts for tools. A stack of 6 Saw horses. 20 Shovels, A stack of 8 buckets, A stack of carpenter tool boxes with four pair HEAVY Leather work gloves and back supporting Lifting belts to each tool box.

oh, yeah... and a door...

OOC:
Yes, I saw it too. Also, those caves had a completely different atmosphere that was (*I think) mostly sulfur dioxide and carbolic acid as a gas. Please also see my post in the OOC thread.
OOC:
GM: No known dwarves in this region. Dwarves are fairly scarce in the nation of Quadira. Dwarves do not like the desert as much as they do Mountains and Mountain forrests. Very astute. Yes, someone is living here...

I don't think so, Logrith replies, but I have to agree with you. Someone is clearly living and working here.

Looking at the doors he asks, Which door? but the bear beats him to it and starts sniffing around the middle door.

New-ish and Very used. As if they'd been used to build this wooden maze.

(GM: one second, I will put that part of the map up too! Curses, I had forgotten the Bear's "Scent" sense. GM: however: while the Scent ability is no longer "Vague" it is still "imprecise" and thus... could be mistaken.)
